The series contains materials created and collected by the Band members during the Tour and includes correspondence, invitations, programs, news articles and reviews, pins, band tour photos and memorabilia, recordings of concerts and events, and recorded recollections. Also included materials related to the 1981, 1984, and 2011 reunions (see The 50th Anniversary Reunion and Return to Russia Tour series for more materials). The series is arranged into alphabetically organized sub-series, each representing material donated by an individual Band member. The Recollections and Recordings sub-series contains material that was donated by different donors.

2002 Campaign, 2001-2002

The 2002 Campaign series comprises all those materials that were clearly connected to the campaign. It includes administrative materials, such as budgets and planning documents; literature distributed by the YCFE and its opposition; and press coverage published throughout the duration of the campaign. It also details the efforts of organizing and training campaign volunteers and includes documentation of supporters in the business and religious community.

Publications produced by the A. Alfred Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning and its sub-units and architecture student organizations. Includes brochures and pamphlets, bulletins or college catalogs, directories, newsletters such as Portico, proposals, and reports. Sub-unit publications include items from the Architecture and Planning Research Laboratory, the Integrated Technology Instruction Center, and the Raoul Wallenberg Lecture. Contains publications about the Art and Architecture Building including printed floor plans, proposals, and reports. Also contains student publications such as Dimensions, Rough Draft, Synergy, and the Graduation Committee publications - commencement programs and their yearbook/directory.

The A. Alfred Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning Publications are divided into four series: Unit Publications; Sub-Unit Publications; Topical Publications; and Student Publications. The bulk of the publications document the college, its organization, course offerings, communications to faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and various research reports written by the college's faculty.

Publications are organized within five series: Unit Publications, Sub-Unit Publications, Topical Publications, Student Publications, and Website.

UNIT PUBLICATIONS is comprised of publications produced by the administration of the college. These publications are defined as being widely distributed and may be published at regular intervals. They are arranged by genre of the publication.

This series includes annual reports, articles, bibliographies, brochures, bulletins including college catalogs, directories, histories, holiday cards, lectures, manuals, newsletters, policies and procedures, posters, programs, proposals, prospectuses, and reports.

An important title in this series is the Bulletin. Academic degree program requirements are defined in what is called the university "bulletin" or general catalog. For example, program requirements outline how many credits and what subjects a student needs to complete in order to receive a degree in an academic program within a specific school or college.

SUB-UNIT PUBLICATIONS is comprised of publications from subordinate centers, departments, institutes, offices, and programs within the college. These publications are arranged alphabetically by the creating sub-unit.

TOPICAL PUBLICATIONS is comprised of publications that document specific events or activities such as fundraising or one-time conferences hosted by the college.

STUDENT PUBLICATIONS contains publications published by student groups within the college.

The A. Alfred Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning (TC; also referred to as Taubman College) was established in 1931 as the College of Architecture. However, courses in architecture have been offered at the University of Michigan since 1876, and a department of architecture, formed in 1913, preceded the creation of the college. Since its formation, TC has offered courses and programs in several areas, including landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, real estate, and, of course, architecture. The record group includes dean's administrative files and correspondence, other administrator files, meeting minutes, department and program files, materials from the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), lectures and other documentation on the Raoul Wallenberg lecture hosted by the college, and several photographs and negatives of the college and TC-related events.

The A. Alfred Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning (University of Michigan), records document the teaching of architecture and design at the University of Michigan beginning in 1878. The records include administrative files, correspondence committee minutes, reports, photographs and architectural drawings. The records have been received in a number of separate accessions which may include material that continues or complements record series from a previous accession or may overlap chronologically with previous accessions. This finding aid reflects the intellectual structure of the records by bringing like material together across accessions. As a consequence, in the container listing box numbers will not necessarily be in consecutive order.

A. Alfred Taubman papers, 1942-2014

A. Alfred Taubman was an entrepreneur, real estate developer and philanthropist. The Taubman collection consists of business and personal records documenting his development of retail and mixed-use real estate projects, his role as a leader in the real estate industry in Michigan and nationally, his transformation of Sotheby's, his investments and business interests, his contributions to the arts, to American educational institutions, and to the city of Detroit.

This collection documents the business and philanthropic activities of A. Alfred Taubman. While this collection is not a comprehensive archive of Taubman's business and personal activities, it offers a rich and abundant resource for researchers interested in the history of commercial real estate development and those interested in Taubman's varied business concerns and philanthropic work. The bulk of the materials date from the early 1960s to the mid-1990s and include both records created by Taubman and a number of staff members of The Taubman Company. The collection is organized into eight series:

Abdeen Jabara papers, 1956-2003 (majority within 1968-2003)

A New York attorney originally based in Detroit. Abdeen Jabara is concerned with issues of the civil rights of Arab Americans, the effects of the September 11th terrorist attack - nationally and globally - and the contentious relationship between Arab and Israeli organizations. The Jabara papers pertain to various litigation procedures and case files, including those in Michigan, with the federal government, and those involving various humanitarian projects. In particular, Jabara challenged the practice of law enforcement agencies to collect information and maintain surveillance of Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) communities and Arab Americans. He was involved in a number of high-profile cases, for example, the murder trial of Sirhan Sirhan and the extradition case of Ziyād Abū ʻAyn (sometimes spelled Ziad Abu Ein or Ziad Abu Ain). Materials are organized into litigation and case files, as well as topical files pertaining to Arab American activism, organizational involvement, participation in the Middle East delegation of the National Lawyers Guild, and other pertinent global and national events highlighting Arabic issues.

The collection has been divided into four series: Litigation/Court Cases, Political and Cultural Activities, Publications, and Topical Files. The materials primarily document the types of legal and political battles and causes that Jabara has tackled throughout his career. A limited amount of material in the collection is in Arabic and French, mostly correspondence, press clippings, and newsletters, and is noted where possible in the contents list.

Researchers should note that, because of the interconnected nature of Jabara's legal, political, and cultural work, topics and materials might be found in multiple series.

Academic Career, 1958-2015 (with gaps)

The Academic Career series (1.5 linear feet) is divided into two subseries, University of Michigan (1.2 linear feet) and Other Universities (0.3 linear feet). Material is dated from 1958-2015 (with gaps) and includes correspondence, clippings, minutes, notes, publications, reports, and teaching materials.

The series primarily documents Johnson's teaching efforts, particularly at the University of Michigan and Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Also included is some material related to his time as dean of the School of Natural Resources and involvement in different university accreditation processes.

Academic Freedom Lecture Fund (University of Michigan), Records, 2000-2002

In 1955, the University of Michigan suspended three professors (H. Chandler Davis, Mark Nickerson and Clement Markert) for their refusal to give testimony before a U.S. House Committee on Un-American Activities group. In 1990, the Academic Freedom Lecture Fund (AFLF) was established to honor those professors. Since 1991, AFLF has organized the annual University of Michigan Senate's Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lecture on Academic and Intellectual Freedom. Documentation begins with the 2000 symposium and includes programs, transcripts, and videotaped lectures. Also included is an upgraded videotape of the documentary Keeping in Mind.

The records of the Academic Freedom Lecture Fund (AFLF) begin in 2000, and mainly consist of videotapes of lectures from the University of Michigan Senate's annual Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lecture on Academic and Intellectual Freedom. There is no documentation of the fund itself.

The annual Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lectures on Academic and Intellectual Freedom are organized chronologically. In addition to the videotapes, documentation includes some transcripts of the lectures, and event programs. The printed program contains background on the lectures, including the resolution establishing the lecture and biographies of the three professors. The 2000 lecture folder also contains a memorial for Clement L. Markert which appeared in The Journal of Heredity.

Adam Kulakow's undergraduate documentary Keeping in Mind, focusing on the University of Michigan's handling of the Davis, Markert, Nickerson cases in the 1950s during the McCarthy era, contributed greatly to the development of the AFLF and the annual lectures. The video was shown publicly for the first time on April 9, 1989. An upgraded 2001 copy of this video is included in these records. For more information about the documentary, and the interviews conducted in support of the project, researchers may consult the Adam Kulakow Papers. The Kulakow collection consists of interview transcripts and videos, and notes which Kulakow generated while producing the documentary. It also includes a copy of the original documentary. Note: The 1989 conditions governing access to "Keeping in Mind" are presumed to remain in force. Please see the finding aid for the Adam Kulakow papers for access and use conditions.

In 2000, the University of Michigan Press published Unfettered Expression: Freedom in American Intellectual Life. The book, edited by Peggie J. Hollingsworth, contained essays originally given as lectures in the annual Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lecture on Academic and Intellectual Freedom series at the University of Michigan from 1991 to 1999.

Academics for Affirmative Action and Social Justice (University of Michigan) records, 1997-2000

Academics for Affirmative Action and Social Justice (AAASJ), a multi-racial coalition of University of Michigan students, faculty and staff, was established in response to the lawsuits filed in 1997 challenging the university's admissions practices. AAASJ supported affirmative action and protested inequality through education, debates and rallies. The record group contains correspondence, newsletters, and essays.

The records of Academics for Affirmative Action and Social Justice (AAASJ) cover the period 1997-2000, and contain administrative information about the organization such as correspondence, records of events, newsletters, and statements.

The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence (including printouts of email) between the founders of AAASJ, Nadia Kim and Tom Guglielmo, and members of the organization. Most of the correspondence contains details regarding meetings, events and news related to affirmative action. The record group also contains information regarding events sponsored by AAASJ like debates and rallies.

AAASJ published a newsletter titled Veritas, with information about affirmative action and the organization's position on the University of Michigan's admissions policies. The record group contains newsletters covering the period 1998-1999. A VHS videotape of the panel session It's All About Mike is also include in this collection. The session, which took place on January 27, 2000, was a debate about affirmative action between members of AAASJ and the Michigan Review.

Academic Women's Caucus (University of Michigan) records, 1970-2015 (majority within 1975-1998)

Organization of women faculty members established to exchange information about their status as faculty women and to investigate and resolve issues of special concern. records include history, awards files, correspondence, minutes, topical files, photographs, and video and sound recordings.

The records of the Academic Women's Caucus (AWC) provide an almost complete history of the AWC from its origins to the present, although the materials documenting the years 1972-1974 are not particularly strong. Many of the early records are from the co-chair Aline Soules. The records do provide valuable documentation of the general concerns of women faculty members at a major research university.

Activities, 1985-2017, undated

Includes meeting minutes from the United Jewish Community Endowment Fund (UJC) conference call on the subject of the Gertzman Allocations Committee; handwritten speech materials. Collected materials include spiritual quotes and writings on the history of Jewish naming conventions and Jewish communities in Poland, miscellaneous publications such as annual reports and programs pertaining to annual meetings, cultural, educational, and philanthropic events. Of particular note is a program from the 2011 Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden honoring Technion professor Dan Shechtman for his work in Chemistry.

Administration, 1921-2011

The Administration series is arranged alphabetically by topic. It includes the club's by-laws, records of committees and club officers, and minutes and reports. In addition, the series contains newsletters sent to the members and club yearbooks with information regarding the history of the club and the interest groups. Membership lists dating from 1921-1999 are also included in this series. A large portion of the series is folders and volumes of compiled minutes, membership rosters, newsletters, and other material. While these folders do contain some duplicate materials, they offer a comprehensive group of records by year.

Administration, 1934-2006

The Administration series details the interactions between the governing heads of MIFA (the Forensic Council and State Manager), their members, and their sponsoring institution. The series also documents special initiatives undertaken to assist in MIFA's administration. The series is divided into four subseries: Forensic Council, Mailings, Standing Committees, and Topical Files. The Forensic Council contains the agendas, minutes, reports, and supporting documents of the Council's meetings and is, by far, the most comprehensive and orderly subseries. The files are arranged chronologically in this subseries. The Standing Committees subseries is composed of records pertaining to meetings of the debate, individual events, drama/theatre, and discussion/student congress committees. There are also a few files of the Middle Level individual events committee. These files are typically arranged chronologically by school year and are not complete. Many of the items in these files will also be found in the Forensic Council subseries, but it might be easier to first check the committee files to locate information concerning one of the MIFA activities. The subseries Mailings, 1967-2004, is arranged chronologically and contains materials mailed to coaches and participating schools. While a portion of these records can also be found in the Forensic Council series, these documents have been retained in this arrangement as full examples of the volume of material received by member schools during their participation in MIFA activities. The last subseries in this portion of the collection is of Topical Files, which arranges information alphabetically by topic rather than chronologically.

Administration, 1971-2003

The Administration series was created in the course of processing and consists of materials related to the structural organization of the union, its affiliation with MFT/AFT, and its efforts to keep members informed. This series is comprised subseries reflecting different accession of GEO records. Records within each subseries are alphabetically by type of material. The series as a whole reflects GEO's pragmatism and commitment to fairly representing the interests of its members. The researcher should note that decision-making within the GEO hierarchy was mutable with the executive committee, stewards council, and steering committee having final say at different times. The 1975 strike tactics and strategy are well covered in the minutes of the executive committee and stewards council and in The Picket Line, the GEO daily newsletter of spring 1975.

Administrative, 1972-2000

The Administrative series, 1972-2000 (1.0 linear feet), comprises materials used to manage and operate the Inteflex program. Included is a large volume of chronological correspondence sent out by the Inteflex administrative office including letters to prospective, current, and former students, other units, and people outside of the university. These files show the history and yearly activities of the staff. The series also contains collected data, director correspondence, office procedure manuals, and faculty retreat records.

The Administrative series (2 linear feet and digital files (online)) is an alphabetically arranged sequence providing insight into the day-to-day operation and structure of the WISE program. Records describe the history and creation of the WISE program, and also include correspondence and documents relating to early funding arrangements. Also of note are position papers and listings of program activities and accomplishments that describe the program's early endeavors and justify its purpose and existence.

Administrative, 1982-2003

The Administrative series (3.5 linear feet) details the overall governing and planning structure of the ACJ including constitution and bylaws, executive board meeting minutes and agenda, financial reports and statements, incoming correspondence (1984-2003) and some outgoing correspondence (1988-1990). Meeting minutes and director's reports are especially useful for the background and planning of ACJ projects and to get an overall sense of the ACJ's goals.

Administrative, 1988-2003

The Administrative Series (1988-2003) is arranged alphabetically and includes files dealing with program issues. It contains correspondence and e-mails (print outs) to and from Director Gaylyn Studlar dealing with equipment, space, and technology issues. A small file on notable alumni is included as well as some information of faculty and executive committees. Two program reviews, the first in 1988 and the second in 1993, important to the growth of the program, are also filed here. The reviews contain information regarding the history, development, faculty, curriculum, and critiques of the program.

Administrative, 1994-2004

The Administrative series (1994-2004, 5 linear feet) includes materials relating to the operation and functioning of the Detroit Observatory since 1994. This series includes an extensive inventory of photographs and descriptive records of the over three-hundred Detroit Observatory holdings; these are scientific instruments, historical photographs, publications, logbooks, and other miscellaneous artifacts and materials. The administrative series also includes correspondence, budget and fundraising documentation, meeting minutes, and materials documenting the day-to-day operation of the Observatory. A substantial portion of this series concerns the planning and implementation of the extensive restoration of the Observatory. For administrative materials prior to 1994, researchers should consult other Bentley collections, including the University of Michigan Observatory record group. The Observatory record group contains administrative material on the Detroit Observatory, including inventories, budgets, personnel, and account books from approximately 1908 to 1948.

Administrative and Financial, 1978-2007

The Administrative and Financial series documents the management of the organization, and includes board of directors' minutes, planning materials, financial statements, annual reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence. The bulk of the correspondence in this series consists of letters sent by Executive Director LeRoy Harvey and a smaller number sent by his successor Patrick Hudson. There are some incoming letters as well, but the majority of incoming correspondence is filed by the program or activity to which it pertains.

The Administrative Files series documents the decisions of high level administrators and committees regarding the planning and management of the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries. A large portion of the series consists of material from the Board of Directors, including a complete run of minutes from the mid to late 1980s, as well as minutes from their retreats and special meetings. Also included are annual, financial, and strategic planning meeting reports.

An area of note within the series includes records of past presidents and organization officers. Material related to Chad Audi can be found in the Chad Audi series.

Material from COO Barbara Willis document the DRMMs work with external organizations and development efforts. The series includes one file of material noting the recognition recieved by Donald DeVos for his work with the organization during the 1990s.

The Administrative Files (18.5 linear feet) has a heavy emphasis on documenting the annual conventions, executive committee meetings, and the activities of organization presidents. Other administrative functions are documented as well. Note: while most of the years have their own folders or dividers, some have been left in binders with the year clearly visible and were not placed in folders.

Administrative Files, 1984-2007

The Administrative Files series, 1984-2007 (1.25 linear ft.), includes meeting minutes and notes from Latina/o Studies Advisory Committee and Faculty meetings, proposals and planning materials for the undergraduate concentration program, files from Latina/o Studies Program Directors, funding proposals, budget materials, departmental brochures, and program planning materials and proposals that document the evolution of the Program from its origins in 1984.

Administrative Files, 1987-2012

The Administrative Files series (3 linear feet and digital files (online)) is divided into two subseries: Executive Files and Office Files. The executive files subseries contain correspondence and other material created or directed to the office co-coordinator, Billie Edwards, or, after 1994, to the Director, Ronni Sanlo. Sanlo was the first person to hold the position of Director of the office.

The Office Files subseries includes general office correspondence dated circa 1991-2012, staff meeting minutes and agendas, material related to the President's New Century Fund Award for Diversity for work on the "From Invisibility to Inclusion" project, and a number of files related to the Task Force on Sexual Orientation. The task force materials range in date from 1987 to 1991. Note that the James W. Toy papers, boxes 8 and 9, also contains material related to the Task Force on Sexual Orientation.

The 2012 Accession added annual reports, budgets, meeting minutes, photographs, strategic plans, reports, forms, and administrative information from 1991-2012 to the Office Files subseries. Many of the materials are digital files from the Spectrum Center's shared drive. The accession highlights core issues and concerns for the center during this period and also contains information about the 40th Anniversary celebrations.

The Board materials include member profiles, meeting minutes, handbooks, and reports. The employee and volunteer material includes an employee reference guide, volunteer debriefing meetings material, and a The YES Foundation® Staff Orientation Guide.

The Administrative Records subgroup (1935-2013, 35.5 linear feet) begins with the Meetings series (1956-2012, 1.5 linear feet), which contain the agendas, minutes and correspondence of the Executive Committee Meetings, the Friends of the Michigan Historical Collection and Bentley Library, the Bentley Library's Administrative Committee, and Staff Meetings. The next set of series are organized by director (see the list above). The first subseries category is the Director's Office/Central Files, which are administrative records generated by the director and the associate director including correspondence, evaluation and planning, fundraising, physical facilities documents, and budget materials. The Staff files subseries, contains staff meetings, staff lists, staff interviews, manuals and farewell parties. The Conferences and Events subseries consists of agendas and speeches and planning material from Bentley-related conferences. Materials in this subseries from the tenure of Francis Blouin include digital materials from the Visual Culture and Archives Symposium held April 4-5, 2013 in honor of Blouin's 32 years of service to the library. The Special Projects subseries includes material regarding intensive activities undertaken by the BHL that often were in some way distinct from core functions. In many cases, a "special project" is one that received outside funding.

The Administrative Records series consist of board and committee meeting minutes and agendas as well as member lists, the chapter constitution, and some administrative correspondence, photographs, and reports and planning material. The Miscellaneous Items folder contains newspaper articles, event information, membership committee lists, speaker series information and other task force and correspondence documents.

Affirmations Lesbian/Gay Community Center Records, 1989-2004

Affirmations Lesbian/Gay Community Center was established in 1989 to serve as a resource to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in the greater Detroit area. The records consist of meeting minutes, correspondence, and written records pertaining to Affirmations’ fundraising, programming, membership and advocacy activities. Select events are also documented by photographs.

This collection reflects the operational and planning activities for Affirmations Lesbian/Gay Community Center. It is divided into nine series: Background, Governance, Administration, Grants and Fundraising, Programming, Membership and Volunteers, Advocacy, Publicity, and Photographs. The majority of the collection has been arranged alphabetically by topic and chronologically within files.

AIDS Partnership Michigan Records, 1983-2005

AIDS Partnership Michigan is a Detroit-based organization that provides education about HIV/AIDS and also provides services for those affected by HIV. The organization was formed in 1996 through a merger between Wellness Networks, Inc. (founded 1983) and AIDS Care Connection (founded 1989). The record group is comprised mainly of board meeting minutes of Wellness Networks, Inc., but also included are annual reports, financial reports and educational pamphlets of AIDS Partnership Michigan and Wellness Networks, Inc.

Alan B. Howes papers, 1940-2006

Alan B. Howes was professor of English at the University of Michigan from 1955 to 2001. The collection consists of press releases, clippings, publicity material, scrapbooks containing press coverage of the recording artists that he represented, including the Supremes, photographs, and his writings about Motown, Otis Redding, and Florence Ballard.

The Al Abrams collection contains scrapbooks, correspondence, press releases, photographs, and memoirs detailing Abrams' work as a publicist and press agent for Detroit's Motown and for Stax Records in Memphis. The collection is valuable for its documentation of Motown in the period of the early to mid-1960s when this Detroit company was beginning its great string of record successes. Abrams was a great collector of press and other materials about the artists who worked for Motown and Stax-Volt.

Case files, administrative files, and subject files relating to his judicial and other professional responsibilities; also memoirs of his career and letters written while serving in the military during World War II.

The Albert J. Engel papers consist of case files, miscellaneous administrative files, and subject files relating to his judicial and other professional responsibilities as a judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan (1971-1974) and as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit (1974-2002). Case files for each court make up the bulk of the collection. The files represent a selection based largely upon the importance of the issue or issues represented within the case, the significance of the case in the judgment of Judge Engel, and whether Judge Engel wrote the opinion, dissent, or concurrence. Important to understanding the cases are individual memoranda written by Judge Engel (and included in box 15) of his assessment of the cases that he heard.

In 2006, the library received Judge Engel's memoirs of his life and career together with photocopies of the letters that he wrote home during the Second World War, 1944-1945.

Albert Kahn was a Detroit-based architect, active from 1896 to 1942. He founded the firm, Albert Kahn Associated Architects & Engineers, which is today known as Albert Kahn Associates, Inc. He was best known for his industrial design work, including the Ford Motor Company's Highland Park and River Rouge plants; numerous commercial buildings in Detroit such as the Fisher Building, Detroit Athletic Club, and General Motors Building; and much of the University of Michigan's Central Campus, including Angell Hall, the Clements Library, and Hill Auditorium, as well as the Willow Run Bomber Plant near Ann Arbor, Michigan. After Kahn's death in 1942, his architectural firm, Albert Kahn Associates, Inc., has continued to be a worldwide leader in the design of factory buildings that enhance the manufacturing process. The Albert Kahn Associates records are composed of materials produced by Albert Kahn the architect, as well as materials produced by his firm, Albert Kahn Associates, Inc., and include correspondence, company files, photographs, published materials, and architectural drawings.

The Albert Kahn Associates records offer researchers the opportunity to study the correspondence, transcripts of speeches, photographs, and architectural drawings of the preeminent, American, industrial architect, Albert Kahn, and his firm, Albert Kahn Associates, Inc. On March 21, 2003 (the 134th anniversary of Albert Kahn's birthday), Albert Kahn Associates, Inc. (AKA) donated this collection to the Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan to ensure the conservation and accessibility of these records. Alfred M. Beeton was a professor at the University of Michigan specializing in limnology, the study of the biology, chemistry, and physics of freshwater lakes. The papers reflect Beeton's primary interest in the limnology and preservation of the St. Lawrence Great Lakes, with an emphasis on factors affecting water quality and eutrophication, i.e. the lack of oxygen--and concomitant death of fish--in lakes due to over-enrichment. The papers also highlight Beeton's ongoing interests in the opossum shrimp, Mysis Relicta, and his extensive work as a consultant and administrator on projects relating to these topics.

The papers of Alfred Beeton--while covering his entire career from his days as a graduate-student teaching fellow to his Directorship of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory--are most comprehensive in their documentation of Beeton's activities from 1966 to 1976, during his tenure at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The CLUG is a teaching tool designed around a team activity focused on the challenges of business strategy, city management, and community building that was developed in the 1960s.

The NOVADS is a simulation game that begins with a major economic, political, social, and environmental properties of Fairfax County, Virginia as they existed in 1970. Each team represents a local household responsible for decision making according to specific economic, social, political, and geographic interests.

The WALRUS is an adaption of CLUG and was developed and published by the Michigan Sea Grant Program in 1972. The game deals with water pollution and sewage issues in a small city surrounded by farm land at the base of a large bay or lake.

The PPOM was developed in 1971 to address the questions of policy affecting and concerning human populations that are spatially distributed within finite geographical boundaries. Players are asked to be decision makers at a local, state, and national level and learn how to decisions affect the game's population.

Young (1915-2010) was a member of Theta Zeta Lambda and a prominent African American physician in the area. The Alumni Association of the University of Michigan was established in 1897 following a consolidation of the Society of Alumni with the alumni societies of the professional schools. The Michigan Alumnus became the association's official organ. As the organization grew, local chapters were established and provided greater structure. The records include files pertaining to the Alumni Association's administrative office and various chapters and interests groups. This includes national and international U-M alumni and alumnae clubs, the Alumnae Council, the Society of Alumni, the University of Michigan Black Alumni (UMBA-formerly the African American Alumni Council (AAC)), and the Reunion of Black Graduates (RBG). The American Citizens for Justice, (or the Asian American Center for Justice), is a Detroit-based Asian American civil rights group founded in reaction to the fatal beating of Vincent Chin, a Chinese-American man. The ACJ later evolved into an organization advocating for the rights of Asian-Americans in general. Archives of folklore collected by students in the course "Survey of American Folklore" offered by the University of Michigan Program in American Culture and first taught by Bruce Conforth in 2005. Collected folklore reports compiled by students in American Folklore course based on oral interviews with informants. (Interviews are included on a variety of physical formats--cassettes, microcassettes, CDs, VHS tapes). Reports include essays, transcripts on topics ranging from popular folklore to campus legends and traditions.

The American Culture Folklore and Oral History Archives consists of folklore collection reports prepared by undergraduate students in the American Folklore course offered by the University of Michigan Program in American Culture. Prior to the transfer to the Bentley Historical Library, the folklore reports were organized according to general topics by students in the course and placed in archival folders and boxes under the direction of the professor. That order has been retained. Very often the media and objects included in the report have remained. The collection is meant to directly serve students who may take the Survey of American Folklore class in the future, and indirectly to those who, years from now, may re-discover and research aspects of American folklore that were pertinent during present day.

There is considerable overlap in subject matter between the categories of collecting topics. In the collection, folders for the first set of reports in a series are ordered according to their pre-assigned number (which can be found in the Administrative Files series) and not according to the last name of the student or title. For the second set, however, where no such number exists, the reports are ordered by surname of the student. In this finding aid, only the student's name and title of the report is listed. Further in the series names will appear to be in alphabetical order when the pre-assigned numbers were not continued.

The American Indian Services (AIS) is a non-profit organization which administers Federal programs for Native American families in Southeast Michigan, predominantly in metropolitan Detroit. The collection primarily consists of photographs and newspaper clippings documenting events and projects put on by the organization. Records also include executive meeting minutes and records of legal actions taken by the AIS.

The American Indian Services (AIS) records primarily consist of board meeting minutes, legal documents, newspaper clippings, and photographs. While the collection contains material covering 1972 to 2016, the bulk of it documents the organization from 1994 to 2013. An Administrative folder contains new Board Member orientation packet as well as management reports. Four folders within the collection contain minutes from the AIS Board of Directors quarterly meeting from 1994 to 2016. The minutes discuss the various projects taken on by the organization as well as discussion of political events.

There are multiple folders covering legal action taken by the AIS protecting rights of Native Americans. Each folder covers a different lawsuit or legal action the AIS took part in. Folders include background, correspondence, drafts of legal records, and other documentation. The dates of these events range from the 1990s to the 2000s and cover disputes of how local, state, and national governments handle American Indian affairs. These include issues ranging from health care coverage to protection of local historical locations.

The collection contains numerous newspaper clippings collected by the organization. The articles span the years 2000 to 2008 and come from newspapers such as The Detroit News, The News-Herald, The Detroit Free Press, as well as local and more topical news sources in the area. Articles cover Native American related stories in Southeast Michigan and document the work of American Indian Services Executive Director Fay Givens. Folders with photographs from the 1990s and 2000s are grouped by event. One folder contains brochures and flyers from the organization advertising American Indian Services events.
