The records of Planned Parenthood of Mid-Michigan document the history of the organization and the family planning services it has provided to Michigan residents. The records are a good source of information on the history of birth control, abortion, sex education, and women’s health issues in the state from the 1930s to the turn of the twenty first century. In addition to the Planned Parenthood of Mid-Michigan files, the collection includes records documenting the Planned Parenthood Association of Southwestern Michigan and Planned Parenthood of Southeast Michigan, dating from the period before these two organizations merged with Planned Parenthood of Mid-Michigan. The Ann Arbor Chapter of the Polish American Congress was established in 1970 as an independent chapter of Michigan Division of the Polish American Congress. Its mission is to interact in the community through civic, social, cultural and educational initiatives to promote Polish ancestry and increase other cultures' understanding of Polish people. The Office of the President records group includes the records of University of Michigan Presidents Robben Fleming, 1968-1978 and 1988 (interim); Allan Smith, 1979 (interim); Harold T. Shapiro, 1980-1987; James J. Duderstadt, 1988-1996; Homer Neal, 1996-1997 (interim); Lee C. Bollinger, 1997-2001; B. Joseph White, 2002 (interim); Mary Sue Coleman (2002-2014); and Mark Schlissel (2014-present). The record group includes annual files from the Office of the President, which include topical files and schools and colleges files. Other series in the record group include supplemental files for each president, search files, committee appointment files, audio and visual materials, development files, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) files, and ephemera.

The records of the University of Michigan President contain the central files created and collected by the President and members of the President's staff. There is some content inherited from earlier presidents, but the record group effectively begins in 1967 with the administration of Robben W. Fleming and continues through successive administrations. Collected creative writing publications and recorded theatrical productions of adults and youth incarcerated in correctional facilities across the state of Michigan. Also included poetry and photographs of Michigan high school students.

Anthologies of poetry and short stories produced in Michigan correctional facilities represent the bulk of the manuscript portion of the collection. Among manuscript material also found scrapbooks and photo albums. The audiovisual portion of the collection contains recorded theatrical productions. The collection is organized into four series: Creative Writing, Performing Arts, Prison Creative Arts Project Material, and Audiovisual Material.

Project Community at the University of Michigan is one of the nation's oldest continuously-running community service-learning courses. Started by student activists in 1961, Project Community grew out of the Civil Rights movement to promote undergraduate students' service learning and social activism in education, criminal justice, public health, and social work. Ypsilanti, Michigan African American attorney who was active in community affairs, particularly in areas of civil rights and education. President of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Ypsilanti-Willow Run Branch, 1981-1982 and 1987 to 1998. Correspondence, papers associated with his involvement in NAACP activities, documents relating to judgeship candidacy in 1992, printed material culled from Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebrations, and papers documenting service to Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church.

The Raymond G. Mullins papers are mainly comprised of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People material; papers related to his Washtenaw judgeship candidacy in 1992; printed material from Martin Luther King Day celebrations; material related to his various organizational affiliations; and documents representing his years of service to Brown Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. The 6.5 linear feet collection covers the years 1953 to 2015. Record types include an audiocassette, awards, correspondence, clippings, event information, publications, organizational records, and photographs.

Conservationist from Petoskey, Michigan who wrote columns and served as an environmental reporter for several regional newspapers; records include published newspaper columns and articles, drafts, photographs and negatives, and documentation relating to his conservation work.

The Reginald Sharkey collection consists of three series: Conservation Career, Writing Career, and Visual Materials. The collection's strength lies in drafts of Sharkey's columns, photographs, and drawings related to wildlife and the environment in Northern Michigan in the 1970s and 1980s.
