Records of the administrative office responsible for developing and coordinating affirmative action programs for women, minorities and disabled faculty, staff, and students. Documentation includes topical files, minutes, reports, photographs and audio and video tapes. This record group also includes records of the Commission for Minority Affairs and the Commission for Women.

The records of the Affirmative Action Office span 1969 - 1993 and document the activities of the office and its predecessors, and provide information about affirmative action programs at the university and the status of minority, women, the disabled and other groups on campus. The records have come to the library in a number of accessions.

The Affirmative Action Office record group is organized into five subgroups: Affirmative Action Office, 1969 - 1993; Commission for Minority Affairs, 1971 - 1980; Commission for Women, 1970 - 1985; Council for Minority Concerns, 1979 - 1983; and Advisory Committee on Affirmative Action Programs, 1977 - 1986. The Affirmative Action Office subgroup includes records created or acquired by the Office. The other subgroups represent various university units that were merged into or whose function were taken over by the Affirmative Action Office.

The University of Michigan Herbarium, started in 1837, is home to over 1.7 million species and is one of the world's leading botanical collections. The U-M Herbarium records collection includes correspondence, photographs, and research materials documenting early Herbarium history, U-M's ethno botanical research practices, and the international professional discourse surrounding botanical research.

The collection represents the Herbarium's actions as a collector of the historical correspondence and photographs of botanical researchers. The records contained within this collection primarily document the research methods and professional conversations of American botanists. Through the correspondence and papers of Michigan and U-M botanists, this collection also documents the development of the Herbarium, its activities, and its status as a collector of botanical specimens and historical records. Researchers should note that there are photographs and plant specimens scattered throughout the correspondence series, and whereas the plant specimens are noted in the box listing, the photographs are not. The collection's four series include Harley Harris Bartlett Papers, Herbarium Historical Correspondence, Herbarium Historical Photographs, and Archived Website.

Campus health service for University of Michigan faculty, staff and students. Records include annual reports; collected historical papers; reports of survey findings and questionnaire results on health service related issues; planning documents; and clippings; and photographs.

The records of the University Health Service (UHS) date from 1912 to 1998, but primarily document the period 1970-1998. The records reflect the programming and educational activities of the UHS, its changes in both physical and organizational structure and its evolution from a tiny student-service provider of emergency care to a multi-department health care facility serving students and university employees in a number of emergency and preventative, and health maintenance capacities.

The UHS collection is divided into nine series: Historical, Memoranda, Programming, Proposals, Publications, Reports, Surveys, Topical, and Visual Materials.

University Council (University of Michigan) records, 1931-1949, 1970-1989

The University of Michigan's University Council was first conceived in 1931 as a representative government that would establish academic and university policies and serve in tangent with the University Senate and the Board of Regents. A second University Council was established in 1970 under bylaw 7.02 to create rules of conduct for the university. Both entities were eventually absorbed or disbanded. The primary holdings of these records include council's correspondence, committee reports, topical files, and meeting minutes with accompanying materials..

The University Council records include eight series: Standing Committees, Committees (reports), Correspondence and Other Papers, Correspondence with Board of Regents, Topical Files, Minutes (bound volumes), Accompanying Documents (bound volumes), and University Council, 1970-1989. The records primarily document the original University Council in operation from 1931 to 1948. Records from this period present a broad overview of campus issues and policies. The materials offer insight into how the university adapted to changes brought about during World War II.

The University College record group is comprised of materials documenting the project at its peak from 1926 to 1930, with some relevant printed matter dating back to 1922. The records offer a fairly complete administrative history of the University College development, with a minor emphasis on criticism and feedback. Materials are divided into two series: Committee Files and Correspondence, Statements and Miscellaneous Files. Of the two, the Committee Files is more valuable in providing a comprehensive view of the University College project.

The records of the University Architect's Office consist of twenty (20) linear feet and three oversize volumes. The records document the numerous construction and renovation projects undertaken by the university on the Ann Arbor campus as well as on the Dearborn and Flint campuses. Office responsible for planning and managing the university's official and ceremonial events, including commencements, faculty and student honors convocations, and development events such as University Seminars and President's Weekends; also manages operation of the President's House and Inglis House. Records of the Undergraduate Library include two linear feet of documents, a few photos and one oversize scrapbook, collectively dating from 1957 to 1982. The documents divide themselves into two categories, annual reports and staff minutes. Reports include those of the Undergraduate Library as a whole (1957/58 to 1981/82) arranged chronologically, and those of the various sub-units within the Library, arranged alphabetically by unit name. Staff meeting minutes are complete from 1957 to 1981.

One scrapbook deals largely with the library's opening in academic year 1957/58; the second volume is dedicated to the retirement of Rose-Grace Faucher, Library director 1963-1981.

Records, 1912-1975, of the Student Government Council and predecessor student government agencies at the University of Michigan. Contains minutes, clippings and topical files concerning, in part, black studies and black student organizations. Also papers of Laing Study Committee, a university group concerned with the study and evaluation of student government.

The records encompass a broad range of documents from successive student government agencies including the Student Council, Student Legislature and Student Senate. Included are minutes, petitions, election materials and results, financial records, and correspondence. The most extensive records are those dating from 1960 on. Topical files from that period include reports on university housing, classified research, campus security, minority affairs, and the University Cellar. Included also are the minutes of the Liang Study Committee (1953/1954) and reports from the Office of Student Affairs on housing and student conduct (1966-1969).

The University of Michigan Student Activities and Leadership Office (SAL) is a resource designed to help students make the most of their co-curricular experience; developing effective student organizations and student leaders through training and education. This record group includes materials documenting oversight of many student leadership and service programs including the Michigan LeaderShape Program, the annual Student Recognition Awards, and the student organization the University Activities Center (UAC).

The University of Michigan Student Activities and Leadership (SAL) record group contains materials generating from affiliate organizations and offices dating from as early as 1959, but the bulk of the materials were generated in the mid 1990s and focus on the work the office has done as SAL. The record group consists of four series: Administrative Files, Program Files, Photographs, and Publications.

Oral histories of University of Michigan Business School faculty members, conducted by Enid Galler 1976, 1990-1992, 1999, and 2005 discussing their background, education, careers, and the business school and university.

The Ross School of Business (University of Michigan) oral history interviews are comprised of typed transcripts and sound recordings, primarily audiocassette tapes of seventeen interviews with retired faculty members recorded during an oral history project undertaken by the School's Alumni and Development Office. The interviews were conducted by Enid H. Galler between 1990 and 1992, 1999, 2005, and one earlier interview identified as being from 1976. The typed transcripts include subject indexes. There are discrepancies between the dates on the transcripts and the dates on the tapes - different dates also appear on the cover sheets of the transcripts and the transcripts themselves. The transcripts and sound recordings are arranged alphabetically by the subject's last name. For consistency, the transcript dates are taken from the cover sheets, and the sound recording dates are taken from the dates on the audio item, except in one case where an item is undated. The date for this interview is taken from the date on the transcript.

Interviews typically include information on the subject's background, education, and family, and commentary on his or her career and overall involvement with the university. The interviews also contain a great deal of information on the administration of, and issues within the School, as well as on the operation of the university as a whole.

The mission of the South Africa Initiatives Office at the University of Michigan is to understand and assist South Africa's continued transformation into a democratic and equitable society through scholarship, outreach initiatives and collaboration. The record group of the South Africa Initiatives Office includes manuscript and printed records related to the University of Michigan's effort to foster cultural exchange with South African universities in the years immediately following the end of apartheid. Administrative records of the SAIO directors and staff, grant program applications, promotional materials, and materials gathered from South African universities are included. In addition, there is some material related to the career of Kenneth Lutterman, Assistant Dean for Research, School of Social Work, who had research interests in South Africa.

The Mellon Program, 1997-1999 series, the Moody Exchange Program, 1998-2000 series, and SAIO Research Grants, 1997-2007 series relate to the core function of SAIO: administering and distributing grants to support research of Michigan faculty and students in South Africa, and to bring South African scholars to Ann Arbor to further their research. Within all three of these fund granting series, files are arranged alphabetically. Files have been weeded to remove any confidential student information such as transcripts, recommendations or social security numbers. What remains are the research proposals, and reports, program evaluations, and lists of recipients.

Solar Car Team (University of Michigan) publications, 1987-2001

The Solar Car Team is an interdisciplinary student organization at the University of Michigan whose objectives are to design, finance, build and race a solar-powered vehicle from scratch. Publications Includes articles, brochures, directories, newsletters such as the Solar Car Express and the Southern Sun, press releases, programs, prospectuses and regulations regarding the various University of Michigan Solar Car Projects as well as the GM Sunrayce and the Sponsor World Solar Challenge. Also includes two histories describing the 1990 races.

Solar Car Publications (1 linear foot) are divided into six series. The first focuses on the 1990 Sunrayce and World Solar Challenge– Sunrunner. It contains official race regulations, newsletters, programs, brochures, magazines, and photocopies of articles on GM Sunrayce USA and the World Solar Challenge. This series also includes prospectuses which give early details on the budget for and design of the Sunrunner and press releases from News and Information Services, General Motors Corporation and the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.

It also includes two published histories. In Sunracing, Richard and Melissa King write about both the American and Australian races. Because of Michigan's great success in both races the Sunrunner features prominently in this history. It includes a narrative of the races and color photographs of many, but not all the entrants. The second history, Racing With the Sun: The 1990 World Solar Challenge by Chester R. Kyle focuses on the technical aspects of the cars and the race. There are black and white photographs of all the cars entered in the World Solar Challenge with their specifications. There are also rules and regulations for both the GM Sunrayce and World Solar Challenge

The second series focuses on the 1993 Sunrayce and World Solar Challenge– Maize & Blue. It includes brochures, a directory of team members, a fact sheet on the GM Sunrayce, the newsletter Solar Express covering the years 1991-1993, and press releases for both the GM Sunrayce and the World Solar Challenge.

The third series contains material on the 1995 Sunrayce– Solar Vision including the newsletter Solar Express for the years 1993-1995 and press releases on the GM Sunrayce.

The fourth series includes documentation on the 1997 Sunrayce– Wolverine, such as the newsletter Solar Express for 1997 as well as programs and regulations from the race.

The fifth series covers 1999 Sunrayce– MaizeBlaze. It includes brochures and newsclippings from the race and 1998-1999 issues of Solar Express.

The sixth series focuses on the 2001 World Solar Challenge– M-Pulse with brochures and programs from the race as well as issues of the newsletter Southern Sun.

The Solar Car Team is an interdisciplinary student organization at the University of Michigan whose objectives are to design, finance, build and race a solar-powered vehicle from scratch. The collection documents the activities and experiences of several generations of the team, including team organization, design, fundraising, construction, testing and racing.

The records of the various U-M Solar Car projects have been received in multiple accessions and are generally described by accession. Accessions are typically organized around specific vehicles, but do contain material carried over from previous cars and races reflecting the fact that students learned from and built on the work of previous teams. For this reason, researchers are advised to review all accessions. The records contain a wide variety of documentation on the design, building, financing and racing of the solar cars and administrative and project management records.

A division of the Department of Surgery of the University of Michigan Hospital, established the nation's first residency training program in thoracic surgery in 1928; documents development of the program at Michigan and advances in surgical procedures, includes correspondence, operation notes, case studies, and photographs and negatives of patients and surgical procedures.

The records of the Section of Thoracic Surgery document the growth and development of thoracic surgery at the University of Michigan from its origins as a clinic to its emergence as a specialized section within the Department of Surgery. The records, covering the period from 1927 to 1960, are comprised of correspondence, operation notes, case studies, and photographs and negatives of patients and surgical procedures. Together, these materials richly illustrate the development of thoracic surgery techniques during the 1930s and 1940s.

Because patient names appear throughout the record group as well as in the photographs and negatives, patient privacy is a major concern and researchers must comply with the access restrictions described elsewhere in this finding aid.

The files document university operations, relations with the state legislature, business and financial matters, buildings and grounds, and such university events as the graduation commencement. The files also relate to the university's struggles during the Depression to maintain its facilities and to provide employment for deserving students as seen in its relations with the Federal Emergency Relief Administration and the National Youth Administration. There are also earlier collected files of treasurers George S. Baker and James H. Wade.

The records of the University of Michigan Secretary, although including earlier materials from the mid-nineteenth century, are in fact the files of secretary Shirley Wheeler Smith and of controller and assistant secretary John C. Christensen and date primarily from 1908 to 1944.

The secretary was the official who performed much of the detail work involved in the administration of the university. The files of the secretary and of those individuals who worked under him pertain to matters of operations, relations with the state legislature, business and financial dealings, building and grounds, and management of university-wide events (particularly commencements). Within these files, the researcher will also find documentation of the university's struggles during the depression to maintain its facilities and to provide financial aid through employment to deserving students. This information will be found in a topical files series under the headings Federal Emergency Relief Administration and National Youth Administration.

The miscellaneous folders in this record group that fall before the period when Smith was secretary consist of collected materials accumulated by the university's treasurer and pertain to financial dealings of the university (land transactions, bequests, etc.)

The Tecumseh Community Health Study is an ongoing prospective epidemiological study of a natural community's health and disease status. It focuses on the community of Tecumseh, Michigan, and began through the University of Michigan's School of Public Health with a 1957 canvass of all households. The study includes all newcomers to the community until 1970, after which only previous residents were followed. The Tecumseh Community Health Study records consist of materials outlining the project planning and management of the study, the initial community survey, materials from rounds one through three of data collection, and later community surveys and follow-up studies.

In 1990 the name was officially changed to Division of Kinesiology. In 2008 the Division of Kinesiology was renamed the School of Kinesiology. Records reflect the evolution of kinesiology from a department to independent division. Material includes committee records, curriculum material and topical files.

Spanning the years 1966-2010, the records of the School of Kinesiology (3.5 linear ft.) document the evolution of the division from a department within a school to a distinct degree-granting body. The records of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs date from 1947 to 1997 and total more than 675 linear feet. The records are a rich source of information on the University of Michigan from the 1960s to the present. They contain a wide variety of material documenting the concerns of the administration and, to a lesser extent, the faculty and students regarding academic programs, student and faculty activities, and the administrative operations of the University of Michigan.

The records, which include the provost's files as well as the files of associate and assistant vice presidents, are arranged in three subgroups: Central Files, Staff Files, and Supplemental Files. The Central Files subgroup consists of the records maintained by the provost's office and is discussed in greater detail below. The Staff Files subgroup includes the records of assistant and associate vice presidents and of the assistants to the provost. The Supplemental Files subgroup contains material on specific topics to which a number of academic affairs staff contributed their efforts, including retreats, unit reviews, and searches. Each of the subgroups is fully described in a separate finding aid.

It should be noted that some of the records in the record group predate the founding of the Office of Academic Affairs. Such records were generally brought by vice presidents or staff members from previous positions or inherited from persons who formerly performed their duties.

The Central Files subgroup consists of 605 linear feet dating from the creation of the Office of Academic Affairs in the academic year 1961/1962 to 2012/2013. The records consist primarily of correspondence, minutes and other committee files, reports, and budget materials, reflecting the broad range of responsibilities and functions of the provost. Whereas the records of the Staff Files subgroup tend to document the process of policy formation and decision-making functions, the Central Files records more often contain finished products, such as reports and policy statements. For the researcher interested in the provost's views on a particular topic or issue, or the Office of Academic Affairs involvement in the academic and financial life of various schools and colleges, the Central Files subgroup is the single best starting point.

The records of the Central Files subgroup are broken into series by academic year, and each series consists of one or more of the following subseries: Alphabetical Files, Schools and Colleges Files, and Chronological Files. From 1961/1962 through 1973/1974 the series each consist of one subseries of Alphabetical Files. The Alphabetical Files are arranged alphabetically and include topical files as well as files regarding university academic, research, and service units.

From 1974/1975 to 1983/1984 the series are split into two subseries, Alphabetical Files and Schools and Colleges Files. The Alphabetical Files remain similar in content to previous years with the exception that files relating to academic units, namely schools, colleges, and their departments, now comprise the subseries Schools and Colleges Files. Records concerning centers, special libraries, museums, institutes, and interdisciplinary programs are filed in the Alphabetical Files subseries. The Schools and Colleges Files are arranged alphabetically by academic unit and contain materials relating to the annual budget requests, promotion and tenure decisions, internal and external reviews, dean evaluations, and changes in academic programs.

For the years 1974/1975 to 1981/1982, with the exception of 1976/1977, there is an "Index to Correspondence" located at the end of the Alphabetical Files which lists in chronological order the letters written by the vice president, the name of the recipient, the subject of the letter, and the heading under which it is filed.

From 1984/1985 to 1993/1994, 1998/1999-2008/2009 and 2010/2011-2011/2012 the series consist of three subseries: Alphabetical Files, Schools and Colleges Files, and Chronological Files. The Alphabetical Files and the Schools and Colleges Files, while becoming more voluminous over the years, remain similar in nature. The Chronological Files consist of all outgoing correspondence from the vice president and are arranged by month. The Chronological Files are useful if the researcher knows the date the vice president might have corresponded on a particular topic but is unsure of the heading used for filing in the Alphabetical Files.

The Alphabetical Files, as mentioned above, are a strong source of information on a variety of topics relating to the administration of a large university, including the university's relationship with state and federal governments, issues confronting institutions of higher education at various points in time (student unrest and affirmative action, for example), collaborative efforts with other Big Ten and area colleges and universities, and the creation and revision of university policies. The minutes of the Academic Affairs Advisory Council (AAAC) are an especially good source of information on the activities of the Office of Academic Affairs. The AAAC, composed of the deans of the schools and colleges, directors of institutes, centers, and special libraries, and the staff of the Office of Academic Affairs, was established to hold monthly meetings to discuss educational policy, planning for growth, and special studies.

Because folder titles on a particular subject may vary from year to year, researchers are advised to be imaginative in searching for information in the topical files. It should also be noted that information on any given subject can probably be found in various places in the collection.

The 2010 and 2011 series feature the addition of the Archived Website subseries. These were created to preserve the office's public website over time. The subseries document the mission, activities, policies, and individuals involved in the operation of the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs as they are presented on its public website. Content includes important news and announcements, publications (such as reports and administrative documents), and information about committees, initiatives, and events. A race desegregation assistance center based at the University of Michigan, the Program for Educational Opportunity (PEO) was established by funding through the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The program was expanded to encompass race, gender, and national origin equity in public schools in the Great Lakes region. The PEO ceased operation in 2011. Administrative files, topical files, workshop and task force material, handbooks, and material pertaining to desegregation and equality in public schools in Ann Arbor, Detroit, and elsewhere in Michigan and the Great Lakes region. Materials include reports from school districts, histories of desegregation, and recordings of conferences/workshops (1970-1993) including speakers Charles D. Moody, Junious Williams, Edward H. While the program was never established as a formal department of religion, it was part of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, until it was suspended indefinitely in 1999 due to an insufficient number of faculty and a lack of upper-level course offerings. An interdisciplinary research program at the University of Michigan, Comparative Study of Social Transformations (CSST) studied theoretical categories and questions around social change within past and present societies. Records include a complete run of the working papers, a collection of flyers and presentation papers from CSST sponsored colloquiums and faculty seminars, posters, and two video cassettes. Included within the working papers are both the original grant proposal for the funding of the CSST and working paper #21, "Taking Stock: The First Year of CSST," February 1989.

Archives of folklore collected by students in the course "Survey of American Folklore" offered by the University of Michigan Program in American Culture and first taught by Bruce Conforth in 2005. Collected folklore reports compiled by students in American Folklore course based on oral interviews with informants. (Interviews are included on a variety of physical formats--cassettes, microcassettes, CDs, VHS tapes). Reports include essays, transcripts on topics ranging from popular folklore to campus legends and traditions.

The American Culture Folklore and Oral History Archives consists of folklore collection reports prepared by undergraduate students in the American Folklore course offered by the University of Michigan Program in American Culture. Prior to the transfer to the Bentley Historical Library, the folklore reports were organized according to general topics by students in the course and placed in archival folders and boxes under the direction of the professor. That order has been retained. Very often the media and objects included in the report have remained. The collection is meant to directly serve students who may take the Survey of American Folklore class in the future, and indirectly to those who, years from now, may re-discover and research aspects of American folklore that were pertinent during present day.

There is considerable overlap in subject matter between the categories of collecting topics. In the collection, folders for the first set of reports in a series are ordered according to their pre-assigned number (which can be found in the Administrative Files series) and not according to the last name of the student or title. For the second set, however, where no such number exists, the reports are ordered by surname of the student. In this finding aid, only the student's name and title of the report is listed. Further in the series names will appear to be in alphabetical order when the pre-assigned numbers were not continued.

Program for Inter-Institutional Collaboration in Area Studies (University of Michigan) records, 1985-1995

Joint program between the University of Michigan, Associated Colleges of the Midwest and the Great Lakes Colleges Association to support student and faculty study and research in non-western area studies through grants, fellowships, conferences and programs. Records consist of grant proposals, minutes of the steering committee, correspondence, evaluations, and applications for research grants and summer language fellowships.

This record group is divided into four major series: Administrative, Applications, Correspondence and Grants.

Administrative contains material concerning the running of the program. It contains the minutes of the steering committee as well as some smaller committees. Reports on PICAS activities, most written by the executive director, and evaluations of PICAS written by grant and fellowship recipients are included. The steering committee minutes in particular offer significant detail on PICAS activities and programs.

Applications include mostly the proposals for conferences to be sponsored by PICAS and for faculty long term research grants. Some proposals and applications for other research grants and the summer language fellowship are also included. These files also have summary information on the number of fellowships awarded and evaluation of the fellowships and summer language programs.

Correspondence contains material chiefly written and received by William Kincaid, executive director of PICAS. It contains incoming and outgoing correspondence from the faculty, students and administrators of the participating colleges. The bulk of the material concerns the summer language fellowships and the long-term faculty research grants.

Grants is organized by the dates of the grants awarded to PICAS. It contains the grant applications and correspondence with the donors. It also contains information on possible sources to renew the grant beyond 1995.

The first classes in art at the University of Michigan were offered in 1906 by the Department of Architecture. In 1926, a program in decorative arts was housed in the College of Engineering and Architecture. Art evolved as a discipline, moving through the colleges of engineering and architecture to become the School of Art, an autonomous institution, in 1974. It became the School of Art & Design in 1996. The records focus on the evaluation and review of the program in the 1970s and early 1980s during the budget crisis faced by the university. The records also contain minutes of the Executive Committee and the Faculty Committee, from the mid-1970s to 1999.

The School of Art & Design records are composed of six series: Topical Files, 1970-1987; Committees; Correspondence; Topical Files, 1980-2000; Visual Materials; and Website. There is a separate collection of printed material. The majority of the records document the years from 1975 to 1999, a crucial period in the school's history as it was formally established as a school in its own right and later experienced serious budget reductions.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Michigan is a volunteer group that is part of the U-M Turner Geriatrics Center. Established in 1987 as the Learning in Retirement program and renamed in 2006 after receiving a grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation. The uses of this collection are rather limited. Probably only researchers of the University of Michigan's history will find it of any value. Even then, the quality of the material here is low, consisting as it does primarily of newspaper clippings which are readily obtainable elsewhere. Although the Oratorical Association made use of many notable figures of the day, neither the Correspondence nor the Name-file yield unique information about these people. Possibly the only thing this collection reflects is the changing public taste in entertainment.

The volumes of Official Publications contain announcements, bulletins, reports and other printed material issued by various units and officers of the University, which were designated official publications. Each titled volume corresponds to roughly one school year, as detailed in the attached list, and may span more than one physical bound volume. The individual publications were numbered sequentially, in order of publication, and are bound in numerical order. Each publication also has a distinctive title, in addition to a volume and number. Prior to about 1921 the annual bound set consisted almost exclusively of the Bulletins of various schools and colleges. After that date the bound set began to include additional publications such the President's Report, financial reports, and incidental publications such as the guide to Freshmen and reports on sponsored conferences and programs.

The Personnel Office records comprise 31 linear feet and span the 1940s through the early 1990s. These records document the activities of the office prior to its 1994 consolidation with the Affirmative Action Office. The office is now part of the Office of University Human Resources, with many of its original responsibilities performed by its sub-unit, Academic Human Resources.

The records have been filed as received from the unit in periodic accessions. As such, there is considerable overlap in topics and dates of coverage within the various records series. Regent's proceedings and University human resource records provide authoritative evidence of when particular people filled specific roles, or when those roles were created.

The Publications subgroup of the Office of the Registrar consists primarily of statistical summaries and reports in addition to several brochures, newsletters, and instructional manuals (the latter of which were intended to help faculty and staff understand and provide assistance with the registration process). Categories of statistics include degrees conferred, student retention rates, measures of the student body's diversity, student grades, and enrollment figures by various categories including minority group, graduates by campus, degree level, field of specialization, and credit hours and undergraduate grade point averages. Diversity statistics include a number of reports from the 1970s and 1980s produced by the Office of Affirmative Action with assistance from the Office of the Registrar. Enrollment statistics include the Report of the Registrar of the University and the Term Enrollment and Credit Hour Report. Other significant records include reports on fees and fee regulations.

The Time Schedule, which has been published several different names, documents the courses offered by the University of Michigan each academic year. Print versions of the Time Schedule have also been cataloged under call number 0393 Bimu B5 2. These publications include the Time Schedule (1928-1995), the Schedule of Courses (1995-2002) and the Schedule of Classes (2003-2004). In the Winter Term of 2004, the Office of the Registrar launched a digital-only version of the Schedule of Classes that is available in the Bentley Library digital repository and accessible via links in the online version of this finding aid.
