Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan is a student organization that raises funding for rehabilitation programs at children's hospitals of southeast Michigan. The collection includes yearbooks, scrapbooks, videos, and event guides.

The records of Dance Marathon have been divided into three series: Event Material, Audiovisual Material, and Scrapbooks. These records document the organization's activities from 1998 to 2010.

The Event Material series consists of a dance captain's manual, news articles, promotional materials, sponsor packets, visitor's guides, and yearbooks. These files give a sense of Dance Marathon's mission and how its events were organized.

The Audiovisual Material series includes digital materials and a VHS tape documenting its activities.

The Scrapbook series contains scrapbooks filled with photos of the events, student volunteers, and children with whom the organization has worked.

Press Secretary and Director of Communications for the City of Detroit and Mayor Kenneth Cockrel, Jr. following the resignation of Kwame Kilpatrick. Includes records of finances, official communications and news stories, and Cockrel's work on various initiatives such as support for the auto industry, Cobo Center expansion, Angel's Night, and Detroit's bond ratings.

Twelve letters (1862-1865) written to his sister while he was serving in Company I, 3rd Michigan Cavalry. The chief items of interest are a secondhand account of the battle of Corinth; the skirmish at Holly Springs; the "Gallant charge on the log heaps"; guerrilla warfare; characterization of General Sherman; criticism of officers and chaplains; and a description of the camp at Brownsville, Ark.

His papers reflect the major issues and trends in social psychology, from its early development through its edification as a discipline. The development of Katz's thinking and work is illuminated through his extensive correspondence with contemporaries, articles and other publications, and research materials.

The collection is an oral history interview--documented via a 34-page transcript and as well as a recording on two CDs--with University of Michigan Professor Richard Crawford. The interview deals exclusively with the 1965 University of Michigan Jazz Band tour of Central and South America.

Daniel R. Sivil was active in the gay and lesbian civil rights and advocacy movement of the 1980s. b He was a founding member of the Michigan Organization for Human Rights and president of the Association of Suburban People, a gay-lesbian organization devoted to social and political activity. Files relating to organizational and advocacy efforts; correspondence with Henry Messer and other activists; and photographs.

The papers of Daniel Ross Sivil provide insight into the gay and lesbian civil rights and advocacy movement of the early 1980s on both a personal and professional level. Sivil's writings and correspondence with peers demonstrates the joys and difficulties of presiding over a grassroots gay and lesbian organization (including fundraising, attracting members, and competing with similar organizations) and lobbying for gay rights in general. The papers have been divided into three series; Activities, Correspondence, and Photographs.

This collection consists of material related to Daniel Satterthwaite, a University of Michigan graduate from the class of 1859. His diary, dated between 1855 and 1856, contains his personal thoughts on student life, religious activities, farming, and events current to the time. Excerpts from the diary were printed in volume 35 of The Michigan Alumnus, a publication run by the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan. The collection also includes his 1859 bachelor's degree diploma from the University of Michigan, as well as a caricature of the class of 1859 that was sketched by Stephen H. Webb.

The Daniel L. DeGrow collection documents his activities as Republican member of the Michigan legislature from 1981 to 2002. The collection includes hardbound volumes of press releases issued by DeGrow and colleagues, columns written by DeGrow for various publications, and press clips from publications across the state.
