Includes three seasons of Out of the Blue: The Michigan Difference, a program that originally aired on the Big Ten Network; also includes archived websites.

The Michigan Public Media records document the unit's operations and provide varied examples of its creative output. The materials will be useful to researchers interested in news and information about the University of Michigan as well as for those exploring how a major research institution communicates its mission and activities to the general public. The record group is comprised of the Out of the Blue series and the Archived Website series.

Press Secretary and Director of Communications for the City of Detroit and Mayor Kenneth Cockrel, Jr. following the resignation of Kwame Kilpatrick. Includes records of finances, official communications and news stories, and Cockrel's work on various initiatives such as support for the auto industry, Cobo Center expansion, Angel's Night, and Detroit's bond ratings.

Digital records were created and/or maintained by Cherrin during his tenure as Press Secretary and Communications Director for Detroit. The Daniel Cherrin papers document the City of Detroit's and Mayor Ken Cockrel's efforts to move beyond the resignation of Kwame Kilpatrick and promote civic and fiscal responsibility while navigating the larger financial crisis of 2008.

The NSFNET 20th anniversary celebration, held November 29-30, 2007, recognized the impact and achievements of the NSFNET program. The conference featured keynote speeches and panel discussions from participants who worked directly on NSFNET, and also from those whose work it benefited. The collection contains print and digital media documenting the event: program of event proceedings, video recordings of panel discussions, video recordings of oral history project interviews, 35 mm color slides.

The NSFNET 20th Anniversary collection documents the event, "NSFNET: The Partnership that Changed the World. Celebrating 20 Years of Internet Innovation and Progress," held November 29-30th, 2007, in Arlington, Virginia. Consisting of website printouts, event program, archived websites, DVD-R discs, DVCAM tapes, and 35 mm color slides, the collection provides historic information regarding the foundation and progress of NSFNET over the past twenty years. The collection consists of two series: Event Information and Oral History Project.

German-born psychologist famous for applying Gestalt perceptual theories to the visual arts, architecture and film. University of Michigan visitng professor in the Department of the History of Art from 1974-1984 and the 2001 recipient of a Collegiate Professorship in his name from the College of Literature, Arts and Sciences. Digital files containing two videos of his memorial celebration in the University of Michigan Botanical Gardens in September 2007.

The Arnheim: Remembering Rudi collection contains two digital files from a DVD of the memorial service celebrating University of Michigan professor Rudolf Arnheim. The service was held on September 30, 2007 in the University of Michigan Botanical Gardens.

The first video displays an edited version of the memorial celebration and a slideshow of photographs that were included in the service. The second video features an unedited version of the ceremony.

The videos were created and produced by R. Thomas Bray of the University of Michigan Libraries. Speakers include Arnheim's daughter Margaret Nettinga and her husband Cor Nettinga, as well as Arnheim's formers students, colleagues and friends Bartlett, Peg Boyers, Stusan Grace Galassi, Roberta Price, Jonathan Tyman, and others.

Originally founded in 1970 as the Safety Department, the Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) is the university's public safety and law enforcement unit. The collection consists of digital Clery Act reports from 2006-2020 (with gaps).

This collection contains digital copies of the University of Michigan's Campus Safety Handbook, Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report, and Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. These documents—also known as Clery Act reports—were published between 2006-2020 (with gaps). They include crime statistics in the previous three years, safety tips, and information about various health and safety agencies, laws, policies, programs, regulations, resources, and services. Beginning in 2010, these reports also included fire safety information and statistics.

Bankole Thompson is a Michigan award-winning journalist and author who served as the senior editor of the Michigan Chronicle newspaper in Detroit from 2006 to 2015. He is known for his coverage of the 2008 presidential election and his one-on-one interviews with Barack Obama. The collection includes a selection of Thompson's writings and speeches, two books, biographical information, and episodes of Thompson's radio show.

The Bankole Thompson papers (0.25 linear feet and 18.42 GB) include writings and speeches, books, biographical information, episodes of his radio show, and information about the court case Edwards v The Detroit News and Thompson. The materials have been organized into one series, the Bankole Thompson papers.

Sara Armstrong So is a soldier with the Michigan Army National Guard. Papers include service summary and records, awards and commendations, written works, and visual materials (video and photographs files) relating to her military career and deployment in Afghanistan.

Materials in this collection comprise Sara Armstrong So's military service record with the Michigan Army National Guard. The collection will be of particular value for individuals interested in military activity in Afghanistan, women in the military, or daily-life images, videos and reflections from soldiers in Afghanistan (2012-2013).

501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization formed in February 2005 to open dialogue and increase citizen participation in the debate surrounding Proposal 2, the ballot initiative that ended affirmative action programs in Michigan and was passed in November 2006; records include correspondence, press coverage, organizational files, and materials relating to public events.

The Toward A Fair Michigan records reflect that organization's efforts to promote dialogue on the controversial ballot initiative Proposal 2 (the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative) and encourage public participation in the political process. In addition to illustrating essential steps in the formation and management of 501©(3) nonprofit groups, the records will be especially valuable to those interested in the public debate surrounding Proposal 2 and the issue of affirmative action in the United States in the early 21st century. The collection is comprised of three series: Administrative Files, Program Director's Files, and Organizational Activities.

Task Force created by President Mary Sue Coleman in 2006 to help frame the University of Michigan's response to Proposal 2, a state ballot initiative that banned the use of affirmative action and preferential treatment in hiring and admissions decisions. Includes administrative records of the Task Force and its subcommittees in digital format as well as related online resources created by the university. Prominent records include the final report of the Task Force, interim reports of subcommittees, email correspondence, and archived Websites that promoted Task Force findings and diversity in general at the university.

The Diversity Blueprints Task Force records will be of value to researchers interested in the University of Michigan's efforts to maintain and enhance the diversity of its campus in response to the limits imposed by the 2006 Michigan ballot initiative, Proposal 2, on the use of affirmative action for admissions decisions. The record group is entirely digital and is comprised of research materials related to other states, statistics and analyses of diversity efforts at the University of Michigan, email correspondence, and reports and recommendations made by the task force and its subcommittees. The record group is comprised of two series: Administrative Files and Archived Websites.

The One United Michigan records (2005-2006) consist of materials related to a statewide campaign to preserve affirmative action and diversity programs and the fight against Proposal 2, which banned these programs. Records include press kits, conference materials, published material against Proposal 2, the digital capture of One United Michigan's web site, signs, and audio-visual materials including digital materials of informational interviews with people about the importance of maintaining affirmative actions programs.
