The Arthur J. Tuttle Papers are arranged in 13 series: case files, opinions and jury instructions, topical office files, conciliation commissioners, criminal files, correspondence, letterbooks, scrapbooks, University of Michigan, financial matters, miscellaneous biographical materials, Tuttle family materials, and visual materials.

The collection is comprised mainly of eighteen scrapbooks containing newspaper clippings with some photographs documenting both the political career of Heineman and the politics of Detroit, in general in the period of the first decade of the twentieth century. There is also a photograph album of the Heineman home, and memorial clippings following his death.

Michigan Republican state senator, 1909-1912. Correspondence and other materials relating to Republican Party politics.

The Newton papers consists of correspondence and other materials relating to Republican Party politics, including elections of 1906, 1910, 1912 and 1918. There is also material relating to the early development of the Jackson Automobile Company. Correspondents include: Patrick H. Kelley, William A. Smith, Charles E. Townsend, Fred M. Warner and William W. Wedemeyer. The collection also includes a small folder of photographs.

The Frank Ward Fletcher collection includes letters from his father George N. Fletcher concerning business and personal affairs. There are also letters received from faculty and university administrators from the period when he was a member of the Board of Regents. Miscellaneous items include a letterpress book, 1885-1899, of business letters and files of bills and receipts. Of interest are materials relating to state Republican politics, especially the elections of 1896 and 1898. The one file of photographs includes portraits of family members as well as snapshots of Fletcher and others on a boating excursion.

Republican governor of Michigan, 1905-1910. Account books, and legal and business papers of P. Dean Warner, Oakland County, Michigan, farmer and cheese manufacturer; and political scrapbooks and other papers of his adopted son, Fred M. Warner, largely concerning election campaigns; and photographs.

The Fred M. Warner papers include papers of P. Dean Warner and Fred M. Warner. Included are letters, legal documents, business papers, a volume recording customers of Warner's cheese business, and scrapbooks. Except for a few folders relating to aid given to California following the 1906 earthquake, there are few documents relating to Warner's terms as governor.

This collection is comprised of business accounts, letterbooks, and correspondence relating to Republican politics, particularly election campaigns of 1912 and 1936, and enforcement of the Prohibition Amendment; and other papers concerning the career of Frank Knox and the coming of World War II. Correspondents include: Frank Knox (correspondence throughout), and Earl C. Michener, Mar. 23, 1936, Oct. 4 and Nov. 15, 1941; and photographs.

The photographs also include a black and white group photo of the members of the Washtenaw County Bar Association and of the Washtenaw County Courthouse staff.

Member of the Michigan House of Representatives from Midland, Michigan, 1909-1915; U.S. Congressman, 1917-1921. Correspondence, 1910-1913, relating to activities in the Michigan House, especially his successful effort to become speaker; speeches, 1920-1958 (scattered dates); file relating to his work as legal counsel for the Dow Chemical Company; file concerning his interest in golf; and photographs.

The Currie papers cover the period between 1910 and 1960 and consist primarily of correspondence relating to his years in the Michigan Legislature, including letters of encouragement and support to and from peers and constituents. The majority of this correspondence focuses on support for and speculation concerning Gilbert Currie's bid for the job of speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives.

The collection has been arranged into a single series of Personal papers. Included are correspondence; two volumes of speeches and other writings concerning prohibition, woman suffrage, and other political and patriotic subjects; scrapbook, family materials, and miscellanea. Within the correspondence, there are collected letters of Michigan Senator Charles E. Townsend, 1913-1914, and a letter from Benjamin R. Tillman concerning smoking in the U.S. Senate. Other correspondents include J. G. Cannon, Secretary of State William J. Bryan, Booker T. Washington, James B. Angell, Frank Knox, Harry B. Hutchins, Charles E. Townsend, and Earl C. Michener.
