Regional organization for accrediting colleges universities and secondary schools, includes administrative records and accreditation reports for high schools in Kent, Houghton, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties in Michigan.

The largest part of the record group consists of accreditation reports containing information on schools in the Kent, Houghton, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties in Michigan. Also included in the record group are a number of bound volumes containing information from the proceedings of the North Central Association's annual meeting, as well as a variety of papers and articles relating to the educational issues of the day.

The Pittsfield Township (Washtenaw County, Mich.) records contain school district records for districts 1 through 8 and 8 fractional from 1860-1930, with occasional records dating back to 1830. The collection also contains a wide range of types of township records dealing with assessments, elections, finance, and legal activities, dating from 1832 to 1980. Township Board proceedings (1834-1965, with some gaps) and road records (1835-1887) are also available in digitized versions.

The collection consists of the following series: Pittsfield School Districts records, Miscellaneous Township Responsibilities, Township Administration, Treasurer's records, Assessment Rolls, Tax Rolls, Rolls of Lands Upon Which Taxes Were Unpaid, and Other Assessments.

Thomas L. Hankinson Papers, 1899-1935

Naturalist, professor of zoology and physiology at Eastern Illinois State Normal College and Michigan State Normal College, and researcher for state conservation departments in Michigan and Ohio. Correspondence, reports, and field and laboratory notes concerning his studies of the fish of Michigan, Illinois and New York; also photographs.

Hankinson's papers are contained in five boxes. Types of materials in the collection include correspondence; topical files on fish studies from Michigan, Illinois, and New York; materials on the Michigan Audubon Society; and field notes (loose leaf, bound volumes, and card files). The time period of these materials ranges from 1899 to 1935.

The archives at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan has additional papers of Professor Hankinson.

The Florer papers have been arranged into the following series: Correspondence; Personal; University of Michigan; Education and the Teaching of German; and Articles and research materials. Some of Florer's correspondents include James B. Angell, Wilber M. Brucker, Fred W. Green, Harry B. Hutchins, and Harry F. Kelly. Some of the other files of interest concern his interests in Louis Kossuth, Gustav Frenssen, Hermann Kiefer, and the Schilling family of Scio township, Washtenaw County, Michigan. There are also materials on early German settlers of Michigan, and the firing of members of the German Department of the University of Michigan during World War I.
