The papers of Lewis George Vander Velde date from 1855 to 1975 and comprise 7 and 3/4 linear feet of material. The collection is valuable for its documentation of the life of an historian and teacher. Vander Velde papers show a constant attention to, and interest in, Michigan local history. The photographic materials deal mainly with the youth of Mrs. Lambert and her brother Frederick G. Novy, Jr. in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Included are two albums relating to Mrs. Lambert's childhood and youth at Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan, and at camp in New Hampshire. There is also a scrapbook of clippings and other memorabilia from the period when she was a student at the University of Michigan, 1910-1913.

The genealogical material consist of fourteen volumes, arranged alphabetically, and containing death and marriage notices from Michigan newspapers up to approximately 1865.

The Martha Cook Building (MCB) opened in the fall of 1915 as the second all-women's dormitory on the University of Michigan campus. It was a gift of Mr. William Wilson Cook, a lawyer-philanthropist from New York City who was born and raised in Hillsdale, Michigan. The Martha Cook Building records are dated from circa 1913-2016 and include blueprints; chronological files; clippings; correspondence; financial records; minutes, particularly of both the MCB's Board of Governors and House Board; publications; reports; scrapbooks; subject files; and visual materials, such as negatives, photographs, and photograph albums.

Other notable topics include the construction, furnishing and remodeling of the Martha Cook Building; various scholarships; and activities, such as various anniversary events and the Messiah Dinner.

University of Michigan student organization formed to build and manage a student union, sponsors a variety of social and service programs and activities, includes records of building and financial committees and various activity/organization files including the University Mimes and the Union Opera (later renamed MUSKET) and scrapbooks and photographs of Union activities.

The records of the Michigan Union measure 21 linear feet and 13 oversize volumes. The records date from 1890 to 1983, although there are some collected photographs dating as early as 1884. The collection has been divided into six series: Central Files, Activity/Organization Files, General Files, Photographs, Songs, and Board of Representatives.

University of Michigan graduate (Class of 1923). Served as a lawyer for the U.S. State Department, the Department of Public Housing, the War Production Board, and Special Assistant to the Attorney General of the U.S. Steinberg's student scrapbook contains photographs, event programs, dance cards, clippings, and ephemera. The scrapbook documents his experiences at the University of Michigan. Also included in the collection, a brief biography dated 1964 and a photocopy of an undated article by Steinberg.

Morton Steinberg' scrapbook documents Steinberg's activities on the University of Michigan campus. The scrapbook contains theatrical performances and athletic events programs (including an Ohio State-Michigan football game program); photographs, including several Kappa Nu, Mu chapter group photographs; dance cards; a list of Steinberg's college friends with home addresses; newspaper clippings; identification cards; receipts and ticket stubs, and other ephemera. The scrapbook also includes materials related to Devera Steinberg's activities on the University of Michigan varsity debate team: her varsity debate team photo, a debate program, and a newspaper clipping.

A separate folder contains Steinberg's brief biography dated December 1964 and a photocopy of his article "Only a Free Press Can Enable Democracy to Function" (source not identified)

There were three recognizable series: Professional Correspondence, dating from 1924 to 1956; Miscellaneous University Files; and Miscellaneous Correspondence (which covers roughly the same period as the Professional Correspondence but which Boston maintained separately). There is also one folder of photographs.
