University of Michigan radio station, founded 1948. Administrative records documenting the development of radio broadcasting at the University of Michigan; radio scripts, transcripts of talks given by faculty, publicity, scrapbooks, and photographs; and sound recordings of radio programs produced and broadcast by WUOM, as well as recordings of various University conferences, ceremonies, etc.

The records of radio station WUOM document the development of radio broadcasting at the University of Michigan from the 1920s through the 1960s. The bulk of the material dating from the founding of the campus radio station WUOM in 1948. The records include administrative files; scripts, publicity material, course guides and other program related material; and recordings of select broadcasts. the WUOM records are organized into three subgroups: Paper Records (including visual materials), Audio Materials (sound recordings) and Printed Material. The content description and arrangement idiosyncrasies of each are presented below. Though the dates of the current accession continue only into the early 1980s, with the bulk of materials concentrated in the 1940s-1960s, WUOM is a continuing unit of the university, and future accessions are anticipated.

Susan P. Wright was a faculty member of the Residential College, where she directed the Science, Technology, and Society Program from 1979 to 1997. Additionally, she was a research scientist at the Institute for Research on Women and Gender. These papers primarily document the debate over recombinant DNA at the University of Michigan in the 1970s and early 1980s.

The Susan Wright Papers document the recombinant DNA debate at the University of Michigan during the 1970s and early 1980s through material collected by Dr. Wright. In the early 1970s, scientists discovered a method to combine DNA from different organisms, creating DNA sequences not found in nature. This led to concern that, among other things, the organisms possessing this recombined DNA could escape from laboratories and cause pandemics. A debate over how much this new technology should be regulated by the government ensued. Wright was involved in this debate through her position as chair of the Residential College's Science, Technology, and Society Program. The papers are arranged into four series: Ann Arbor Newspaper Coverage, Correspondence, Minutes, and Articles, Governor's Task Force, and Topical.

Scrapbooks and copies of articles largely concerning African and Middle Eastern politics; and scattered correspondence and biographical material.

The Wright collection is an accumulation of articles and scrapbooks, compiled by Robin Wright's mother, Mrs. L. Hart Wright. The collection also contains a scattering of correspondence, photographs, and biographical information.

L. Hart Wright (1917-1983) was the University of Michigan's Paul G. Kauper Professor of Law and whose areas of expertise included taxation and tax law. Includes a binder of course materials used in teaching L. Hart Wright's seminar on tax problems and procedures.

Philo E. and Fannie E. Pettibone Wright family of Detroit, Michigan. Personal papers of Fannie Wright with her husband Philo, her brother Sherman Pettibone, her daughters Virginia, Maude, and Evelyn, her son Philo S., and other members of the family, concerning family affairs and the genealogy of the Wright and Pettibone families.

The collection has been arranged by name of family member. Included is personal correspondence of Fannie Wright with her husband Philo E., her brother Sherman Pettibone, daughters Virginia, Maude, and Evelyn, son Philo S., and other members of the family, concerning family affairs and the genealogy of the Wright and Pettibone families. There are also fifty-seven volumes of Fannie E. Wright's diaries, 1863-1925, recording family news, social events, and home activities in Detroit, Michigan. Also of interest are account books of the Sherman Pettibone farm of Tallmadge, Ohio, and account books of Philo S. Wright, 1893-1913. Photographs in the collection consist of individual and group portraits of family members; photographs of family homes; and photographs of boating on the Detroit River.

Escanaba, Michigan, newspaperman. Subject files (including collected materials) relating to his research interest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, notably in the area of Cedar River, Escanaba, and Menominee; include manuscript of writings, subject files, and photographs.

The papers of Jean Worth consists largely of collected material relating to his research interest in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The collection has been divided into the following series: Cedar River; Escanaba; Menominee; and Upper Peninsula -General.

Workshop organized by University of Michigan faculty that investigates the causes, circumstances, and consequences of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Records detail the activities of the Workshop, including administrative functions and papers, materials from the Workshops themselves, and Workshop projects. Also included are materials related to the scope and topic of the Workshops.

The Workshop for Armenian/Turkish Scholarship (WATS) consists of records and related material from the WATS archives. The records are divided into five series: Administrative, Workshops, WATS Projects, and Related Materials. The collection was organized by Nora Nercessian prior to being presented to the Bentley Historical Library. The arrangement and description done by Nercessian has largely been retained.

The Workmen's Circle/Arbeter Ring Michigan District is a Jewish fraternal organization. The records cover the period between 1934 and 2007 and consist primarily of minutes, newsletters, correspondence, newspaper clippings, press releases, yearbooks, event announcements, programs, photographs, publications and posters.

University of Michigan professor of zoology and museum curator, participated in or and led several research expeditions to the Philippines, member of the First and Second Philippine Commissions and involved in several Philippines business ventures; records includes notes, correspondence, publications and photographs relating to research expeditions, service on Philippines Commissions business activities, of special interest are notes of a trip taken to Mindoro and Palawan in July of 1910 and papers pertaining to the special Wood-Forbes Investigating Mission to the Philippines in 1921.

The Dean C. Worcester papers filed at the Bentley Historical Library consist of correspondence, subject files, newspaper clippings, publications, and photographs pertaining to his activities in the Philippines. Of interest are notes of a trip taken to Mindoro and Palawan in July of 1910 and papers pertaining to the special Wood-Forbes Investigating Mission to the Philippines in 1921. The collection includes correspondence with William Howard Taft and Leonard Wood.

The collection consists primarily of correspondence with public figures; newspaper clippings, photographs, and other materials from scrapbooks relating to the Hillcrest Wolverine Open golf tournament; photographs of Woody and his wife Ann with various public figures and attending different social occasions.
