The African American and African Diaspora Collection is comprised largely of individual letters, documents, and other manuscript items relating to slavery, abolition movements, and aspects of African American life, largely dating between 1781 and 1865.

The African American and African Diaspora Collection is comprised largely of individual letters, documents, and other manuscript items relating to slavery, abolition movements, and aspects of African American life, largely dating between 1781 and 1865. Topics addressed in the letters and documents include the experiences and work of enslaved persons in the North and South; the buying and selling of enslaved men, women, and children; participation in the French and Indian War, American Revolution, and Civil War of African descended persons; abolitionists and abolition societies; the American Colonization Society; the lives of formerly enslaved persons; African American education; and many other subjects. The Carl E. Guthe collection contains the papers and photographs of a noted professor of anthropology and director of the Museum of Anthropology and University Museum of the University of Michigan, primarily concerning expedition to the Philippines, 1923-1925.

The collection, which was received in two accessions, contains papers and photographs documenting Guthe's work at the University of Michigan, including the 1922 expedition to the Philippines and other expeditions and materials relating to his teaching and administrative activities. The collection is organized into eight series: Philippine Expedition Papers, University Files, Philippine Expediting Photographs, Journals, Writings, Clippings, Other, and Correspondence. The 1944 accession includes the series Philippine Expedition Papers, University Files, Philippine Expedition Photographs, and Correspondence. The 2006 addition includes the series Journals, Correspondence, Writings, Clippings, Other, and Photographs. .

Center for the Education of Women publications include miscellaneous bibliographies, brochures, calendars, flyers, journals, and proceedings. Also includes newsletters such as Cornerstone and Newsletter: Center for Continuing Education of Women; reports documenting the history of CEW such as Center for the Education of Women: 30 Year Anniversary Report, 1964-1994 and publications describing CEW library holdings and materials from the Women in Science Program.

The Publications subgroup is divided into two series: UNIT PUBLICATIONS and SUB-UNIT PUBLICATIONS.

Homeopathic Hospital at the University of Michigan, publications include Includes annual reports, bulletins, lectures such as the "Introductory Lecture of Professor E. C. Franklin Before the Homoeopathic College of the University of Michigan," a newsletter entitled the "Bulletin," reports, reprints, and schedules. The Homoeopathic Medical School Publications contains one series, Unit Publications. The series includes announcements from 1875 through 1922, two issues of Ann Arbor Alumnus: A Quarterly Journal, and the journal University Homeopathic Observer for 1907 through 1914. Also included are several reprints, reports and lectures from the school which mainly concern the defense of homeopathic medicine in the face of its numerous detractors.

This 30-page notebook by William Case Clark of South Kingston, Rhode Island, contains very brief notes on the 1776 British attack on Newport, Rhode Island, a copy of the numbers of soldiers of different ranks killed in the Battle of Bunker Hill, financial accounts for the purchase of foodstuffs in the 1780s, and a weather journal spanning January to May 1775. Clark also copied extracts from the poems "The Ballad of Chevy Chase" and "A New Song Called the Gaspee."
