This volume contains the minutes of the Bangor Literary Association (of Bangor, Maine) from 1882 to 1886. Originally founded as a debating society, the minutes include the question or topic of discussion along with the names of which members voted in the negative or affirmative. Example subjects of debate include the textbooks for Bangor public schools, the acceptability of deception, the United States proposed canal through Nicaragua, and others.

This volume contains the minutes of the Bangor Literary Association (of Bangor, Maine) from 1882 to 1886. James W. Donigan, secretary of the association, likely kept this record. Entries include the question or topic of discussion along with the names of which members voted in the negative or affirmative. Example subjects of debate included the textbooks for Bangor public schools, the acceptability of deception, the United States proposed canal through Nicaragua, and others.

The minutes were kept in a book with several earlier contributions, which may or may not relate to the literary association. They include writing on the pyramids of Egypt (pages 30-31), tabular data on U.S. Immigration, 1820-1845 (page 32), and voting results for U.S. Presidents and Vice-Presidents between 1788 and 1876 (pages 34-35).

The New York City Elections collection is made up of election returns and certified results for elections held in various city wards from 1809-1811. One additional document details Isaac De Peyster's duties as city chamberlain in the mid-18th century.

The New York City Elections collection contains 11 election returns from the Second Ward (5 items, 1810-1811), Third Ward (1 item, 1811), Fourth Ward (1 item, 1809), Sixth Ward (1 item, 1811), Seventh Ward (1 item, 1810), Eighth Ward (1 item, 1811), and Ninth Ward (1 item, 1809). Each return lists candidates' names and the number of votes each received, and most summarize the results and name victors. Three election inspectors signed each return.

This volume includes sections contributed by Louenza (or, Loenza) Clark Young and her husband Robert E. Young of Washington County, New York, between 1852 and 1877. Its primary components are Robert Young's journal from March to June 1852; selections from the "Washington Year Book" for 1853, including summary data from the 1850 census; lists of names of Washington County town officers; returns from the U.S. Presidential elections of 1844, 1848, and 1852, and gubernatorial elections of 1850 and 1852; and Louenza Young's teaching records. Louenza taught in district schools in Salem, East Salem, Cambridge, Jackson, Battenville, Shushan, and Hebron (Washington County, New York). Her records (107 pages) include student names and tallies related to spelling classes, "whispering rolls," and "All Right Registers," 1867-1877.
