Materials surrounding the philanthropic career of prominent metropolitan Detroit attorney, Jewish community leader, and University of Michigan alumnus (LSA, 1964) Lawrence S. Jackier. The collection primarily contains annual reports, correspondence, meeting materials, programs, publications, and other materials from Jackier's presidency with the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and his tenure with the Technion Institute's International Board of Governors. The collection also contains materials pertaining to Jackier's accolades, and his affiliation with other organizations addressing the concerns of the Detroit Jewish community and the state of Israel.

The papers of Lawrence S. Jackier primarily focus on his philanthropic efforts through the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and his leadership at the Technion Institute (Israel's first university). This includes annual reports, meeting and speech materials, magazine and newspaper articles, event programs such as his 2004 honorary doctorate conferment at the Institute and other materials.

Of a particular note are correspondence and acknowledgements from notable members within and outside of the Jewish community congratulating Jackier on his election to the JFMD presidency, his receipt of the Fred M. Butzel and Golden Torah awards, and his honorary doctorate. These notable individuals include University of Michigan Preseident Mary Sue Coleman, United States Senator Carl M. Levin, congressman Joe Knollenberg, and President Shimon Peres of Israel, among others.

Includes addresses, annual reports, bibliographies, brochures, bulletins, catalogs, directories, histories, journals, lectures and magazines. Some titles include The Law School, 1940 - 1973; Legal Education at Michigan, 1859 - 1959; A Short History and Some of the Graduate of the Department; and the Michigan Journal of International Law.

This collection is divided into four subseries: Unit Publications, Sub-Unit Publications, Topical Publications, and Student Publications. Some publications may no longer be available in print but are available in digital format through the Law School's archived or current website or in Deep Blue, the University's institutional repository. Records of the Law School document the evolution of legal education at the University of Michigan as well as tenures of various deans and faculty. Documentation includes historical and class files; student organizations and activities; planning and construction of Law School buildings; information on William W. Cook and his bequest; topical files; deans' correspondence; reports and minutes. Also included are materials related to the Thomas M Cooley and William W. Cook lecture series and portraits of faculty and students, photographs of activities of the Judge Advocate General's School held at the Law School during World War II, the construction of the Law Quadrangle and Law Library addition, and student activities.

The Law School Records begin in 1852 and span the years through the end of the twentieth century. The records document the history of legal education at the University of Michigan, the administration of the Law School, and the lives of some of the scholars who have studied and taught there.

The physical arrangement of the records reflects the various accessions of material that have been received from the Law School over the years. This finding aid is structured to reflect the intellectual organization of the records - continuing series and like materials have been brought together regardless of when the records were transferred to the library. Records of the League of Women Voters Grosse Pointe, Mich. chapter includes administrative, annual meetings and issues materials, and publications.

The administrative records of the League of Women Voters Grosse Pointe encompass material of the chapter's Board and include dated from the early 1950s to 2009. Also found here are versions and editions of by-laws, as well as awards and citations received by the chapter between the 1950s and 2009. Material of the chapter's annual meeting, called by the chapter "Local annual meeting," include meeting minutes between 1953 and 2009. Membership material, dated between 1950 and 2009, includes rosters and member directories. Chapter's many activities are reflected in the newsletter The Grosse Pointe Voter, or The Voter, and in a collection of material dedicated to specific issues. The collection includes issues of The Voter dated between 1958 and 2009. Also included is the chapter's annually published listing of Grosse Pointe's public and government officials, dated from 1960 to 2009.

Records of the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Northwest Wayne County in Michigan and its predecessor organizations, the LWV of Livonia and the LWV of Northville-Plymouth-Canton-Novi. Collection includes organizational records, newsletters, correspondence, and other records documenting the activities of the three groups.

The records of the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Northwest County include organizational documents and publications, correspondence, membership rosters, local studies, and extensive meeting minutes drawn from all predecessor organizations but primarily from the LWV of Livonia. Although the documents encompass the years from 1957 to 2013, most are from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Researchers will find records of LWV operations, such as fundraising and board elections, as well as a wealth of information relating to urban challenges, social issues, and environmental concerns of the greater Detroit area in the late 20th century. A glimpse into broader state issues, such as Michigan's penitential system, also emerges in the documents. Extensive collections of LWV newsletters from the Livonia and Northville-Plymouth-Canton-Novi branches, as well as the subsequent merged organization, will also be of interest to those researching the political participation of women during and after the women's liberation movement.

Administrative and organizational records; files relating to elections and local and state issues.

The records of the League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area have been arranged into the following series: Organizational Records, 1942-1966 (mainly Mrs. Ivan Duff files); Health Care and Planning Issues, 1966-1973; Administrative, 1920-1990; Elections, 1946-1982; Issues, 1944-1981: and Topical files, 1969-1983. As the records came from different donors, there is some inevitable overlap between the various series.

Network of lesbian parents and their children in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, Mich. area. The collection includes organizational bylaws, Board meetings minutes, newsletters, and photographs. Some materials relate to the Coalition for Adoption Rights Equality, Inc. and the 2004 Conference on Rainbow Families.

The majority of the materials in this collection are organizational records from the Lesbian Moms' Network, including newsletters, bylaws, Board of Directors' minutes, and photos of demonstrations; it also contains records relating to Coalition for Adoption Rights Equality, Inc. (CARE). The collection also includes a folder of material relating to the Conference on Rainbow Families, held in October 2004 at the University of Michigan.

Letitia J. Byrd is an African-American local community leader and a counselor for Huron High School in the Ann Arbor Public School system. She is also very involved with other Ann Arbor community organizations. This collection includes photographs, professional correspondence, and documents recording her involvement with numerous local organizations and with the Ann Arbor School System.
