The Martha Cook Building (MCB) opened in the fall of 1915 as the second all-women's dormitory on the University of Michigan campus. It was a gift of Mr. William Wilson Cook, a lawyer-philanthropist from New York City who was born and raised in Hillsdale, Michigan. The Martha Cook Building records are dated from circa 1913-2016 and include blueprints; chronological files; clippings; correspondence; financial records; minutes, particularly of both the MCB's Board of Governors and House Board; publications; reports; scrapbooks; subject files; and visual materials, such as negatives, photographs, and photograph albums.

Marty Bodnar papers, 1976-2012 (majority within 1976-1981)

University of Michigan basketball player from 1977-1981, and later Associate Athletic Director for Ticketing and Marketing. Collection includes 21 scrapbooks, primarily containing clippings from Bodnar's playing career. Collection also includes materials related to the implementation of personal seat licenses at Michigan Stadium, limited correspondence, and memorabilia.

This collection is arranged into three series. The largest series, Scrapbooks (1976-1981), consists of scrapbooks compiled by Marty Bodnar throughout his career as a Michigan basketball player. The scrapbooks primarily contain news clippings about his own achievements as a player, as well as press releases, photographs, and correspondence regarding Marty and Mark Bodnar's recruitment.

The Preferential Seating Plan series (2003) contains a large dossier compiled as Michigan was planning to implement the "Preferential Seating Plan" at Michigan Stadium, commonly known as Personal Seat Licenses and Priority Points. It includes details of the proposal and research completed while preparing the proposal. There are a number of exhibits, including an Executive Summary, information about the current budget, research on other athletic departments, and other information on the plan.

The Personal Papers series (1976-2012) includes limited correspondence throughout Bodnar's career as both a player and administrator. It also contains press releases, a copy of a speech the Bodnar brothers gave at the 1990 Basketball Bust, and photographs. A limited number of publications are part of this series, such as assorted game programs and media guides from Bodnar's playing career, and several issues of Go Blue!: Inside Wolverine Sports magazine. It also contains audio tapes from his personal collection.

Maxine L. Berman papers, 1968-2017 (scattered dates)

Materials surrounding the career of Jewish American politician, women's rights advocate, and the University of Michigan alumna (1968) Maxine L. Berman who served in the Michigan House of Representatives between 1982 and 1996. The collection contains biographical information, correspondence, legislative documents, collected publications, speeches, an audio recording of an interview, and other materials on subjects such as women's health and reproductive rights, education reform, civil rights, election law, and fiscal concerns.

This collection primarily focuses on Berman's political career during her tenure with the Michigan House of Representatives from 1982 to 1996. Biographical materials include an audio interview of Berman discussing her experience as a delegate to the 1976 Democratic National Convention, materials pertaining to her book The Only Boobs in the House Are Men: A Veteran Woman Legislator Lifts the Lid on Politics Macho Style, photographs, and numerous articles highlighting her career, as well as women in politics.

The collection also includes correspondence, publications, reports, speeches, and other materials primarily focusing on civil rights, education reform, election law, fiscal concerns, and women's health and reproductive rights. Of particular note are materials pertaining to the death penalty and assisted suicide; the performance, curriculum, and operation of charter schools; legislative redistricting; voter registration and campaign finance reform; financial mismanagement at the House Fiscal Agency; the Balanced Budget Amendment; and issues surrounding women's health and reproductive rights including the legalization of abortion and related issues surrounding informed and parental consent.

Other materials in the collection touch upon issues surrounding informed consent for breast cancer treatment options, the accreditation of mammography facilities in Michigan, flag burning, and family values, including materials focusing on the Michigan Department of Social Service's (DSS) attempt to reunite incest victims with their offenders.

The University of Michigan's first professional school; the Medical School record group includes historical and administrative records related to the school and its faculty and administrators, 1850-2010.

The records of the Medical School span over 160 years, beginning in 1850 and continuing through 2010. They include 389.7 linear feet of material, 10 oversize volumes, 9 oversize folders of miscellaneous documents, and 3.3 GB of digital material stored online. The records include dean's correspondence and subject files, executive committee minutes, faculty minutes, annual reports of departments, school accreditation and review files, a variety of special reports and studies, and extensive files on the Replacement Hospital Project (Taubman Center). The record group also contains photo prints depicting faculty, students and facilities, including a remarkable series of photographs taken by J. Jefferson Gibson circa 1893.

The Medical School records have been organized into five subgroups: Dean's Records, Subordinate Administrative Officers, Faculty Records, Audio-Visual Materials, and Miscellaneous records. Within each subgroup there are a number of series and these series may be further subdivided to reflect the date span of the records received in each accession.

The Medical School records have been received in several accessions and the physical arrangement of the records (the number order of the boxes) reflects the various installments in which they were received. The accessions sometimes reflected the tenure of a particular dean or other administrator, but frequently appear to have been somewhat arbitrary transfers of files. Records from individual subgroups, series and subseries often continue across multiple accessions--sometimes with consecutive date ranges, but often with overlapping date spans.

In this finding aid the records are described in their intellectual order -- subgroups and series are brought together irrespective of the particular accession in which they were received. As a result, in the detailed contents listing the box number order will not always be consecutive.

The records of the Men's Glee Club date from 1886 to 2012 and were received in several major accessions. The first accession, covering 1886-1985 and 1991, includes four linear feet of manuscript, printed, and photographic material as well as posters, scrapbooks, and sound recordings in a variety of formats. The first accession has been divided into five series: Chronological File, Philip A. Duey Material, Photographs, Sound Recordings, Scrapbooks, and Archived Website.

The 1995 accession of the records of the Men's Glee Club were comprised of two linear feet of correspondence, photographs, and topical files ranging from 1919 to 1994. Items of particular interest include a folder of historical writings, which provides anecdotes, reflections, and facts about the club prepared for an exhibit on club history. The Press Releases folder is also of note, as it reflects information given out by the club to newspapers and other media of the towns they visited. Both of these folders are found in the Topical series. The records of this accession are divided into 3 series: Correspondence, Topical, and Visual Materials.

The 2010 accession to the University of Michigan Men's Glee Club records is organized into one series. The Sound Recordings series, 1952-1987, (10 linear feet) is comprised of University of Michigan Men's Glee Club concert recordings, including its annual fall and spring concert series. Many of the boxes of tape reel also include a concert program and concert set list.

The 2012 accession consisted entirely of digital materials (scanned images, audio files, video files, and still images) that added content to the Chronological Files series and established a China Concert Tour series. The 2018 accession consisted of phonograph records, which have been added to the Sound Recordings series, and publications.

Papers of Michael and Janis Neubecker, co-founders and past Presidents of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays Downriver, Michigan (PFLAG Downriver). Michael Neubecker served as the PFLAG Great Lakes Regional Director and Vice-President/Regional Director Council Chair. Researchers will find records of PFLAG Downriver, materials of other PFLAG chapters and of the national PFLAG organization, and material related to Michael and Janice Neubecker PFLAG activities. Also subject files and photographs.

The Michael and Janice Neubecker papers contain material about Neubeckers' activism, records of organizations in which they participated. Also included correspondence and background material on various subjects related to the LGBT community rights. The Michigan Alumni Cheerleaders Association was founded in 1967 to provide former male cheerleaders an opportunity to cheer at Homecoming games. Records of the organization including newsletters, bylaws, articles, and photographs.
