The Cedar River series, ca. 1888 to 1982, contains various papers used in presentations; photographs, mostly of area lumber operations as well as some corresponding negatives; and two unpublished manuscripts, one of which, "Cedar River," is a thirty-seven chapter history of the Cedar River area.
Escanaba, 1869-1986
The Escanaba series, 1869 to 1986, is an alphabetically-arranged reference series. Topics covered include agriculture, airline service, the Bonifas Fine Art Center, Carnegie Library, economic conditions, railroads, St. Joseph's Parish, and sawmills. This series also contains notes taken from two early Escanaba newspapers, the Tribune from 1869 to 1876 and its successor, the Iron Post from 1877 to 1889.

Central Office Files, 1926-2016
The Central Office Files subgroup (72.9 linear feet and digital material(online)) contains two series, Core Administrative Records and Topical Files.
Topical Files, 1926-2013
The Topical Files series (42.8 linear feet) are mainly arranged alphabetically, with an exception for the "1989-2006" run, which maintains the original order of the files and contains material about: specific conferences and events sponsored by the center, the research it has conducted, its liaisons with and involvement in other groups working on similar portfolios, and its day-to-day activities. In the original collection, the topical files of each accession were formed around director Jean Campbell's topical files, with the additions of similar topical files from associate director Pat Wulp and office files that were the work of several staff members. These earlier runs of topical files--all of which covered essentially the same date range--have been combined into a single series, into which similar material from the newer accessions had been added.
Highlights of the series include records on several major CEW initiatives, including the Administrative Internship Program, Evening Program, the Women in Science Program, the center's Scholarship Awards, various programs for international women, its research activities, its many conferences and workshops, and its involvement in university-wide efforts to document and improve the climate for women and students of color, faculty and staff. Also included in the series are a large quantity of public relations material and a small body of photographs that were filed as a group. The locations of other photographs, that have been left with their related topical documents, are indicated by the note '(includes photo)' in the folder listing.
The researcher should note that (in addition to the overlaps between the Topical Files and other series, mentioned in the collection-wide scope and content note) there are a number of overlapping subjects within the Topical series. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
- 'Black Women In Transition' and 'Perspectives on Black Women'
- 'Centennial 1970' and 'Women on Campus'
- 'Employment', 'Job', and 'Michigan Civil Service Commission'
Additionally, there are two related clusters of files dealing with statistics and quantitative data on the climate for women and individuals of color at the University of Michigan in general and on CEW participants in particular that deserve special note:
- [The climate for women and minorities]: 'Affirmative Action', 'Central Coordinating Committee for Women and Minority Services', 'Statistics on UM Enrollment of Women', files starting with 'Women and Minority...', and files starting with 'Tables...'.
- [CEW participants and other non-traditional students]: CEW research program, 'Grants-Ford Foundation', 'Non-traditional/Older Students Study', 'Participant Data', 'Report on UM Women', and 'Research Program'
Finally, researchers looking for records of CEW's programs and events should either look under individual program names, in the 'Programs by Academic Year' files, and in the 'Publicity' files, or in the Programming files of the Core Administrative Records series. Researchers interested in particular leadership programs—such as the Advanced Leadership Series (ALS), Advanced Leadership Program (ALP), Michigan Women's Leadership Project (MWLP), and New Millennium Leader Series (NMLS)—are also encouraged to consult the "1926-2013" sub-series.
An additional set of Topical Files covering the years 1989-2009 was received in 2008-2009, followed by a set covering the years 1989-2006 (received in 2014) and 1926-2013 (received in 2013-2014 and 2016-2018).

Central Files, 1904-circa 1979
Central Files (1904-ca. 1979) have been further divided into three subseries, Board of Directors, Committees, and Union Presidents. The Board of Directors material is most notable for a complete set of Board minutes (1904-1979). Committee records are most interesting for the records of the Finance Committee, which includes records of the committee's predecessor, the Board of Governors. Included are minutes (1920-1963), annual audits (1914-1960) and monthly financial statements (1919-1960). Union Presidents material consists of correspondence from two early union presidents, Edward G. Kemp (correspondence dates 1905; 1911-1913) and Seldon S. Dickinson (correspondence dates 1913-1914).
