Topical Files

Topical Files (7.8 linear ft; 1937-1976) are arranged alphabetically, and contain correspondence, memoranda, reports and meeting minutes. The series is diverse, and reflects Waggoner's many professional interests. He was active in a variety of professional associations, and the Topical Files include records regarding the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry (GAP), the Michigan Society of Neurology and Psychiatry (MSNP), and the Reproductive Biology Research Institute; the latter is more commonly known as the Masters and Johnson Institute. Waggoner also kept topical files about psychiatric units at the University of Michigan. There are extensive files on the Children's Psychiatric Hospital, the Mental Health Research Institute, the Neuropsychiatric Institute, and the Department of Psychiatry. There is some overlap between the contents of the Topical Files and Correspondence series, so researchers should check both series for material on any given topic or organization.
