The Albert J. Engel papers consist of case files, miscellaneous administrative files, and subject files relating to his judicial and other professional responsibilities as a judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan (1971-1974) and as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit (1974-2002). Case files for each court make up the bulk of the collection. The files represent a selection based largely upon the importance of the issue or issues represented within the case, the significance of the case in the judgment of Judge Engel, and whether Judge Engel wrote the opinion, dissent, or concurrence. Important to understanding the cases are individual memoranda written by Judge Engel (and included in box 15) of his assessment of the cases that he heard.

In 2006, the library received Judge Engel's memoirs of his life and career together with photocopies of the letters that he wrote home during the Second World War, 1944-1945.

Nixon includes his journal, dated October 1943-November 1944, describing his part in the invasion of Leyte, Philippines, summary of his military service, as well as documents from his time on the Standard Landing Craft Unit #24. Papers of Don L. Nixon also include a family tree, photographs, naval appointment certificates, and clippings.

The collection has been organized into two series. The Scrapbooks series contains 4 binders of correspondence, clippings and photographs. The Memorial Book series contains a memorial scrapbook created by Falk's family after his death to honor his life and memory. The collection includes both a print version of the book, as well as digital copies of each page of the book.

The Hull Family Papers consists of nine series: Family Materials, George L. Hull and Isabelle M. Hull, Lawrence C. Hull and Eliza Darling Hull, Isabelle MacFarlane Hull, Dr. Leroy Hull and Frances Ball Hull, George M. Hull, Jean Hull Ruhman, Audio-Visual Materials, and Scrapbooks. The collection contains letters, diaries, photos, clippings, and ephemera. The strength of the collection lies in its documentation of life in nineteenth-century southern Michigan, the World War I correspondence of Dr. Leroy Hull, the World War II correspondence of George M. Hull, and the 1950s travel correspondence and photographs of Jean Hull Ruhman.

The Mary Pennington Collection spans multiple generations of the Pennington family. They resided in Pewamo, Michigan until 1920 when they moved to East Lansing, Michigan. Most of the collection concerns John H. Pennington’s immediate family, and particularly, his daughter, Mary Pennington. The collection is divided into six series: Family Memorabilia, Correspondence, Educational Materials, “I Am” Materials, Visual Materials, and Estate Papers of John Pennington.
