The Boston Mob Pennsylvania Tour and Cross-Country Tour photograph albums contain pictures taken during travels in the Mid-Atlantic States, the northern Midwest, Colorado, and California in the early 1890s. The photographs show city scenes and buildings, natural scenery, and travelers.

The Boston Mob Pennsylvania Tour and Cross-Country Tour photograph albums contain 213 pictures taken during travels in the Mid-Atlantic States, the northern Midwest, Colorado, and California in the early 1890s. Each album is 29cm x 35cm with titles stamped in gold on the front covers. Most photographs are captioned.

The first volume, "Pennsylvania Tour 1891," contains 77 items, comprised of 15.5cm x 20cm prints pasted one to a page and 9cm x 12cm prints pasted three or four to a page. The first 7 pictures and the final picture were taken at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, including views of battlefield monuments and a military cemetery. The photographer also traveled to Luray, Virginia; Baltimore, Maryland; Washington, D.C.; and Richmond, Virginia. A few shots are group portraits of male and female tourists, who posed once in a railroad car by a banner reading "Boston Mob," and many others are images of city streets and natural scenery, including a series taken in and around a natural bridge and Cedar Creek in Virginia. While visiting Washington, D.C., the compiler photographed landmarks such as the Washington Monument, United States Treasury, White House, and State, War, and Navy Building. Ferries, horse-drawn trolleys (running on tracks), trains, bridges, and railroad depots are visible in many photographs. Of note is an aerial photograph of the White House and surrounding buildings taken from the top of the Washington Monument and a group of 5 items showing African American children playing on a street in Luray, Virginia.

The second volume, "Across the Continent 1892," contains 136 photographs (9cm x 12cm each), usually pasted four to a page. Most items are views of buildings and natural scenery in locations such as Niagara Falls; Sioux City, Iowa; Denver, Colorado; San Francisco, California; Los Angeles, California; Seattle, Washington; and Duluth, Minnesota, as well as other towns in Colorado and California. The pictures show donkeys, town and city buildings, a cattle ranch, and rock formations, particularly in the Garden of the Gods; the photographer visited Seattle during a snowy winter. A number of photographs show a smelter in Denver, Colorado. One group of California photographs features orange trees. Other items of note are a "Spirit Picture" of two overlapped city scenes and a shot of Grover Cleveland's inauguration on March 4, 1893.

This collection includes correspondence, track blueprints, various schedules, financial accounts, and other materials.

The collection originally was in small packets of related materials which accounts for overlapping chronological sequences. It is organized by format, location, and date into Correspondence, some with Track Blueprints, Movements of Trains, Track Schedules, and various Financial Account Books, 1846-1960.

The Montana photographs are comprised of card photographs, loose pages from a photograph album, snapshots, and various photographic prints. The pictures show groups of men and women, scenes inside and around a mine and mining camps, landscapes, city views, and street scenes.

The Montana photographs (120 items) are comprised of 38 loose photographic prints, 7 card photographs, and 13 loose pages from a photograph album (with 75 photographs). One of the card photographs shows an illustration of the Montana State Capitol, designed by John H. Kent; a posed photo shows George W. Shaw demonstrating a piece from a sewing machine (Philadelphia, 1876), and two mounted images show his booths promoting Shaw's pancake flour at the Montana State Fairs of 1900 and 1901. The unmounted prints, which include cyanotypes and Kodak snapshots, are pictures of mountainous landscapes, tent and log cabin camps, and men at work. Two group portraits are present, as are pictures of a mining camp in Arizona and the interior of a bedroom. The album pages contain informal portraits of members of the Daniels and Powers families, street scenes from Butte taken during a large conflagration, and several of a mining operation. Of note are images of mine workers inside the mine, mine-related buildings, underground railroad tracks, and an electric hoist. A large group photo shows men gathered around a table in a rough-shod office studying documents or maps. Automobiles are visible in some of the images. Many of the album photographs have captions written directly on them in pencil. Interior and exterior views of offices and homes.

The Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Trip photograph album includes pictures of railroad cars, tracks, and travelers taken in the 1890s, as well as pictures of trackside scenes in Tennessee and pictures of people enjoying recreational activities on a beach.

The Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Trip album contains 296 photographs taken along a railroad line in Tennessee and on an unidentified beach in the 1890s. Each item is a Kodak No. 2 circular print, mounted onto the pages in groups of 6; two are pasted on top of other pictures. The photographs are numbered 577-863. The volume has leather covers with the title "Photographs" stamped in gold on the front.

Most of the album's images are scenes from a railroad trip in Tennessee, beginning with views of the Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, Virginia, and including pictures of passengers, tracks, trackside scenery, depots, and small towns. The album also contains pictures of people walking along a beach, displaying captured fish, preparing to launch a rowboat, and shooting small birds. Additional groups of items show a large Victorian house, people disembarking from a boat, and bathers diving into a large partially covered swimming area.
