An unidentified individual compiled this scrapbook of clipped postal markings in the latter half of the 19th century, with known dates ranging from 1860-1891. The bulk of the markings are stamped, but several are handwritten. The stamps are organized by place of post office mark, first by states and a section for "Foreign Post-Marks" at the end. The bulk of the markings are from post offices in the Northeastern United States, but a number of Southern and Midwestern offices are also represented. Places from beyond the United States that are represented include various Canadian provinces, Cuba, France, Austria, Russia, Germany, Chile, Brazil, Great Britain, and more.

The inside front cover has a label for "H. P. Ives, Manufacturer of Every Description of Blank Books . . . and Dealer in Miscellaneous and School Books, Paper Hangings and Stationery," from Salem, Massachusetts. Several pages also include undated pencil tallies of baseball scores for a league whose clubs were named Detroit, Salem, Erie, and Troy.
