One letter written by Harry [Crockett?] to his mother, Mrs. L. F. Crockett, from Portland, Maine, on October 8, 1903, is laid into the volume. Written on John W. Perkins Company, Wholesale Druggists, illustrated stationery, the letter comments on family matters, business, and deaths of acquaintances, including one gentleman who was killed by an electric car.
William Yardley of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was born December 20, 1791, to Thomas and Susanna Yardley. His first wife Rachel James died shortly after their marriage in 1826. He subsequently married Sarah S. Hart (1803-1859) in 1833, with whom he had three children: Susan Josephine (1834-1880), Lydia Hart (1836-1880), and John Seymour (1838-1844). He died in 1861 and, as a member of the Society of Friends, was buried in the Makefield Friends Burial Grounds.
