Scrapbook of clippings about the Inlander, University of Michigan student publication.

Biographical / Historical:

The Inlander was first published by the seniors University of Michigan Class of 1891 in the fall of 1890. John Dewey and Fred Newton Scott were the initial faculty advisors. It began as a student-published literary monthly magazine but in 1905 it became a biweekly Sunday supplement to the Michigan Daily. In 1907, the publication was stopped due to the lack of funds. The publication was revived for two academic years, in 1916/1917-1918/1919, with the financial support from the Board in Control of Student Publications. In 1921, a new student literary magazine, Whimsies, was started by a group of students. In 1924, the name was changed to The Inlander. The final incarnation of The Inlander survived until 1930.
