The collection consists of photographs showing tornado damage to land and property along the Huron River near Delhi in Scio Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan.

Biographical / Historical:

Eli A. Gallup was born in 1891 in Macedon, NY. He earned his A.B. (1915) and M.S. in forestry (1916), both from the University of Michigan. Gallup served as Ann Arbor's parks superintendent from 1919 to circa 1964. Gallup passed away on June 25, 1964.

In 1917, Gallup was renting a room in Delhi, Michigan--now part of Scio Township, in Washtenaw County, Michigan--when a tornado struck and severely damaged part of the town.
