Scope and Content:: The William P. Wells papers consist of a communication to University of Michigan Board of Regents requesting leave of absence; doctor's report on his health; and four volumes of notes for his law lectures.
Biographical / Historical:: William P. Wells was a practicing lawyer in Detroit when he joined the Law Department faculty. He succeeded Charles I. Walker as Kent Professor of Law. Wells taught until 1885 and then returned to the faculty for the years 1887-1891.
