Biographical / Historical:

Wardell Alphonso Polk was born in Detroit on May 22, 1918 to Sidney and Addie (Reid) Polk. Polk served as a Lieutenant Bombardier/Navigator, 477th Medium Bomber Group, 477th Medium Composite Group of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. Polk was among several Tuskegee Airmen veterans who helped establish the Detroit chapter and later the national organization of Tuskegee Airmen. Wardell A. Polk passed away in Detroit on September 17, 2002.
