Biographical / Historical:

Samuel Alvin Bell was born on December 25, 1910 to Samuel H. Bell and Lulia Blanche (Crabtree) Bell. After graduating from Muskingum College, Bell enrolled in the Massachusetts of Technology (MIT) and eventually received a Master degree in chemical engineering.

After completing his education, Bell worked at Armco Steel (later AK Steel) as a research engineer. He spent the bulk of his career at the Armco Steel branch in Middletown, Ohio. His research efforts addressed taconite and iron ore as well as blast furnaces.

In 1999, Muskingum College presented Bell with its Alumni Distinguished Service Award.

Samuel Alvin Bell passed away on September 18, 2006.
