The Other Writing and Research series illustrates Reuben's intense interest in controversial cases and individuals and is divided into two subseries: Writing, Notes and Drafts and Clippings and Research. The Writing, Notes, and Drafts subseries is an alphabetically arranged file of Reuben's writing and notes and some correspondence dealing with a variety of subjects. Much, but not all, of the material concerns espionage and spy cases. Other material includes documents related to various political figures, and a large grouping of material related to jockey Willie Shoemaker. Titles of folders in the series are sometimes very general ("Spies Who Never Were", "Imposters," etc.) but reflect Reuben's own labeling system. The Clippings and Research subseries differs from the Writing, Notes, and Drafts subseries in that it contains only secondary material, not material created by Reuben himself. Newspaper clippings make up the vast majority of the subseries, but a small amount of photocopies or other secondary material can also be found.
