The Jonas Salk series contains approximately a linear foot worth of material that relates to the full scientific career of Jonas Salk and his research on vaccination, both for polio and the attempt at creating a vaccine for HIV/AIDS. There are FOIA documents from Salk’s role in creation of the polio vaccine, as well as journal articles and news clipping documenting creation of the vaccine. Also included are transcripts from various interviews with Salk, including an interview between Salk and Cohen. Finally, the series contains documents concerning Salk’s role in researching and developing an HIV/AIDS vaccine, including the biomedical company that he helped start, as well as articles about his death.
