James Edward Davis is a teacher who has worked within the Dearborn Public School District, Michigan since he graduated from the University of Michigan. He has been active politically, especially in regards to teacher's rights, and within Michigan churches. The collection contains series of personal biographical papers, family papers, as well as his collected materials from local churches and schools.

Materials include Davis family history, his father's reminiscences of life in Clinton, Michigan, and relating to the United Church of Christ of Clinton, and some personal and biographical papers; pamphlets and flyers relating to student political activities at the University of Michigan; collected materials about local Michigan churches, many of them in Dexter, Mich.; collected materials about Dearborn Public Schools system and schools in Michigan.

The papers consists mostly of monographs and professional journal reprints on archaeological topics, mostly related to Michigan and/or Michigan native Americans, and also include Fitting's papers, photographic materials, articles and correspondence.

The majority of the collection is reprints of monographs and professional journal reprints on archaeological topics. Also included are some of Dr. Fitting’s correspondence, manuscripts, audio visual materials, and his articles. The collection documents a wide variety of archaeological and Native American topics for the state of Michigan, North America, the Hopewell Site, as well as a few articles on archaeology in China and Africa, and other related archaeological matters.

The collection is organized into the following sections. First, bibliographies, manuscripts and miscellaneous for which the author is unknown. Second, personal and professional correspondence of Dr. Fitting, organized alphabetically by surname of correspondent with a few chronologically organized folders at the end. Third, manuscripts, articles, reprints, and photocopies of the aforementioned materials, arranged alphabetically by author’s surname, giving both title of the article and date of publication. Authors for whom there are five articles or more in the collection beside Dr. Fitting include: George A. Agogino; Fred Dustin; James B. Griffin; Arthur J. Jelinek; Cynthia Irwin-Williams; Kenneth E. Kidd; Donald W. Lathrap; Ronald J. Mason; George S. May; William J. Mayer-Oakes; Patrick J. Munson; John V. Murra; George I. Quimby; George I. Quimby, Jr; and William A. Ritchie. Boxes 8-9 were later additions to the collection and include negatives, slides, photographs, and microfilm of excavations with which Fitting was involved and more of his personal papers.

A list of the manuscripts, articles, and reprints for boxes #3-7, arranged alphabetically by title, is available at the beginning of Box 3 to assist researchers.

Copies of many of his books and periodicals may be found in the Clarke Historical Library or Park Library.

The Harbour collection concerns his work as an analyst of the automobile industry. In addition to copies of The Harbour Report, the collection includes newspaper and magazine articles written by Harbour or containing references to him, and files pertaining to his participation at automobile related conferences. Also of interest are various promotional and related materials surrounding the publication of his book Factory Man.

Detroit, Michigan, newspaper publisher. Papers of Scripps and of the James E. Scripps Trust established to ensure that control of Scripps's Evening News Association would remain with his immediate family. Series in the collection include: biographical material, notably unpublished biography and personal diaries, 1858-1868 and 1872-1881; business records of various Scripps newspapers and publishing companies; George H. Scripps probate records; and James E. Scripps trust records. Also, European journals by Scripps' wive, Harriet Josephine Scripps.

This collection contains both the personal papers of James E. Scripps and the records of the thirty-year trust he created shortly before his death in 1906. This collection is divided into four series: Biographical Materials, Business Records, George H. Scripps Probate Records, and James E. Scripps Trust Records. The bulk of this collection concerns the running of the Evening News Association. The records of the Evening News Association, the James E. Scripps Corporation, and the James E. Scripps Trust, with related litigation materials, attest to the complexity of this Detroit newspaper operation. Two European journals in the Biographical Materials series belong to Scripps' wife, Harriet Josephine Scripps. The journals contain information about the Scripps family, including relations with James Scripps' sister, Ellen Browning Scripps, who was a journalist and a philanthropist, and the founding donor of the Scripps College.

The Stephenson collection is comprised of a single series of mayoralty files, arranged alphabetically, and dated 1973-1975. The collection consists of correspondence, speeches, reports, and other materials concerning his mayoralty activities, the operation of city departments, finances, union negotiations, zoning and ordinance issues, and community debate over such matters as revenue sharing, rent control, and the lowering of the penalty for possession of marijuana.

This collection is comprised of three letters by James E. Taylor, an artist famous for his work in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, to Colonel George Meade, son of General George Meade. The letters respect the sale and trade of photographs of deceased Civil War officers. The letters are accompanied by a list of photographs owned by Taylor depicting officers who died in the Civil War.

This collection is comprised of three letters by James E. Taylor, an artist famous for his work in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper , to Colonel George Meade, son of General George Meade. The letters respect the sale and trade of photographs of deceased Civil War officers. The letters are accompanied by a list of photographs owned by Taylor, of officers who died in the Civil War. The dates of these letters likely fall between 1880 (internal evidence) and 1897 (the year of Colonel Meade's death).

James F. Coakley was an assistant professor in the Department of Speech at the University of Michigan from 1966 to1971. Focusing mainly in theatre and literary interpretation, he was responsible for directing and managing many of the plays that were put on by the University Players during his time at the University of Michigan. Notable productions include The Homecoming, Lysistrata, Much Ado About Nothing, and Arthur Miller's After the Fall. Includes photographs from a 1967 production of After the Fall where Arthur Miller was present. Also scrapbooks, photos, and slides from other productions by the University of Michigan's University Players during 1966-1971.

The collection provides some documentation of plays Coakley staged with the University Players, notably Arthur Millers After the Fall, and lecture notes for courses he taught. The collection is organized into three series: "After the Fall", Photographic Slides, Speech 230 "The Arts of the Theatre" and Scrapbooks.

The James F. Johnson railroad photograph album contains approximately 115 photographs including technical images related to railroad machinery and the oil industry in Florida and Pennsylvania during the late 1920s.

The James F. Johnson railroad photograph album contains approximately 115 photographs including technical images related to railroad machinery and the oil industry in Florida and Pennsylvania during the late 1920s. The album (14 x 21 cm) is string-bound with black leather covers. Images of particular interest include photographs of trains on what appears to be the Florida East Coast Railway, identified friends and coworkers of album creator James F. Johnson (a railroad test observer in Florida and Pennsylvania during the 1920s), engine components, trials of various engines, and interiors of rail cars and instruction laboratories. Also included are images of drilling for oil and oil storage tanks in both Florida and Pennsylvania, general scenic views of Franklin (Pennsylvania), Saint Augustine (Florida), and the Florida Keys, as well as an image of a Shriners' convention in Miami. An envelope containing 7 additional photos is also laid in.
