The Organizational Records, 1929-1963, include a Ledger, 1942-1961, and Meeting Minutes, 1941-1961 (.5 cubic ft. in 1 box); Miscellaneous reference materials, 1933-1963 (approximately .5 cubic ft. in 1 box); Sorority Files, which are reports on each sorority listing officers, members, and their annual events, as well as some supporting documentation, (1 cubic ft. in 2 boxes); and Sorority Grade Point Materials, which show the grade points of each sorority sister and the average of each sorority, 1961-1964 (approximately .5 cubic ft. in 1 box). Also included is one folder each on the fraternity Delta Sigma Phi, 1948-1956, and Dr. D. Louise Sharp.

The collection includes the copper time capsule and the published materials that composed its contents, which were sealed inside the 1969 Central Michigan University Park Library building cornerstone until they were extracted during the 1999-2001 building renovation.

The collection includes the copper time capsule and the published materials that composed its contents, which were sealed inside the 1969 Central Michigan University Park Library building cornerstone until they were extracted during the 1999-2001 building renovation. These publications mainly document the history of the Park, Mr. Charles V. Park, for whom the library building is named, sources of the library’s collection development activities, CMU courses, CMU President William B. Boyd, student protests against the Vietnam War, both on campus and nationally, international relations, and President Richard M. Nixon. Except for the newspapers, which are quite acidic, the collection is in very good condition. Materials are organized by size and format, alphabetically and chronologically. Published items in the collection are under copyright.

Researchers may be interested in other Clarke collections documenting the CMU Libraries, President William Boyd, Mr. Park, and student protests against the Vietnam War.

The collection documents the reconstruction and new addition of the CMU Park Library building and temporary redesign of Finch Fieldhouse. There is also one set of blue-line drawings of the old Park building.

Architectural materials collection, 1966, 1997-2001, 2005. The collection includes blue-line prints, Dec. 1966, by Roger Allen and Associates of Grand Rapids (Mich.) for the original Park Library. Architectural drawings for the renovation and addition to the Park Library include: a milestone schedule, concept drawings, site layout plans, an artist's renderings of interior and exterior views of the new building, a presentation drawing, composite floor plans for four floors, and a vendor sample board of office furniture for staff, 1997-2001, by Greiner and Associates of Grand Rapids. Some of the drawings are mounted on foamcor board. The collection documents various stages of the planning process for the new building, as well as the furniture, shelving, signage, and electricity plans for it, and the landscaping and planting around it. Lighting fixture drawings were created by H.M. Brandston and Partners, Inc., 1999. Custom furniture designs by Blanton and Moore, LLC are for maple study carrels, 2001, and exhibit cases, 2005. Also included is a three-dimensional model of the new building with a wooden base and clear plastic cover. The model measures 28x35x8 inches and includes the building, people, cars, trees, sidewalks, and Preston Street. The model is composed of carboard and plastic in red, white, blue, green, brown, and black. The collection is organized by format, size, and chronologically.

Researchers may also be interested in additional architectural materials documenting the addition which are found in the CMU. Park Library New library collection, 1996-2008, which is also housed in the Clarke Historical Library. This collection includes final drawings, which came to the archivist after re/construction was completed. The collection also documents the open house events and other events held in the new building. Collections documenting the history and functions of the library are also housed in the Clarke.

The records dated from 1958 through 1970 are mostly those of Eaton, who either created or collected them while he was the Head of the Library Department at CMU. Pre-1958 records were either created or collected by Charles V. Park.

Most of these materials came from Dean of Libraries Tom Moore’s office files while he was dean, but others were created and collected during the time John Weatherford was Director of Park, 1970-1988, with a few folders predating this. The collection is ongoing. It is organized by series, alphabetically by topic, and chronologically.

Organizational records, 1984-2016, include: DAC (Dean’s Advisory Council) and SFC (See, feel, care) Meeting Minutes, agendas, and attachments; Five-Year Plans, Annual and other Reports; Bylaws Revisions by the Faculty and by the Dean; Long-term plans; Goals; Libraries Review and Evaluation; Dean’s Evaluation, June 29, 2011; Dean’s Retirement information, June 2016; Publicity, Art, 2006-2009; Library Master Plan, 2015; and a LibQual Survey, 2011. These materials came from Dean of Libraries, Tom Moore’s office, after he retired in 2016. All boxes are .5 cubic foot boxes except #1, #3 and #7, which are .25 cubic foot boxes. The LibQual Survey was very important and highly positive about the services the library and library staff provided to the university community and surrounding communities.

The collection is ongoing. It is organized by series, alphabetically by topic, and in original order, which is reverse chronological.

This collection includes one oversized folder each of State of Michigan Executive Declarations for Gentle Friday at Central Michigan University (CMU), 1988, 2005; posters of events and performers sponsored by the CMU Program Board, 1978-1979, 1985, 2018, 20uu [2000-2018]; and a plaque of the Program Board Campus of the Year Award with newspaper article and photograph, 2001.

This oversized materials collection is in three oversized folders. Folder 1 is State of Michigan Executive Declarations for Gentle Friday at Central Michigan University (CMU), 1988, 2005. Folder 2 is posters of events and performers sponsored by the Program Board at CMU, 1978-1979, 1985, 2018, 20uu [2000-2024]. The posters are of actors, performers, musicians, musical groups, comedians, a magician, a LGBTQ+ Vlogger, and motivational speakers. The posters are all in color, mostly photographic, vary by size from 11 x 17 inches to 20 x 24 inches, some are signed, and some are mounted onto foamcor board. Folder 3 is a plaque of the Program Board Campus of the Year Award with newspaper article and photograph, 2001.The collection is in very good physical condition.

Scrapbooks, constitutions, bylaws, programs, photographs, booklets and a few meeting minutes of the Central Michigan University. Residence Halls Assembly.

The collection documents some of the history of the CMU. RHA in constitutions, bylaws, programs, photographs, scrapbooks, booklets, webpages [added by the Archivist], and a few meeting minutes. The majority of the collection consists of the scrapbooks, all eighteen of which are oversized volumes of varying completion. Some of the covers and scrapbooks are particularly beautiful, creative, and well identified, including 1995-1996 (Cover of cotton flannel with cars design); 1996-1997 (Cover of bright tie-dyed material with PEACE); 1999-2000 (Cover words in pink, green, and silver sparkle paint on black scrapbook cover); 2006 (Cover of red satin cover with black RHA, 2006, and trim); and 2006-2007 (Cover of beautiful tie-dyed material with white rope and purple ribbon trim, RHA).

There are a number of organizations represented in the collection to which CMU. RHA belongs to and interacts with, including:

GLAUCURH [Great Lakes Association of College and University Residence Halls] is a student-run organization which works to promote and improve student life at college and university campus in the region including Michigan, Ontario, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. It focuses on providing quality programming and activities for on-campus residents to improve their college experience. It was founded in 1968. The organization works with the NCCs [National Communications Coordinator]s who each represent their school. There are conferences, regional and national awards and regional directors and national officers of the organization;

MORHA [Michigan Organization of Residence Hall Association] which is the related state organization;

and, NACURH [National Association of College and University Residence Halls] which is the related national organization, which has a program of the month competition in which CMU routinely competes.
