Bidwell family scrapbooks, 1909-2015 (majority within 1936-1947)

Scrapbooks of the University of Michigan students Betty Lou Bidwell Morris (Literature, Science, and the Arts, Class of 1947), and her parents Howard King Bidwell (Engineering and Architecture, Class of 1924) and Ruth Loella Kinney Bidwell, (Literature, Science, and the Arts, Class of 1924). The scrapbooks contain photographs, dance cards, grade reports, identifications, membershipn cards, and registration cards, announcements, certificates, invitations, programs, newsletters, and letters. Also, Betty Lou's scrapbook of alumnae and reunion material having to do with the Betsy Barbour Buds. Materials relate to the Bidwells' student lives, family lives, and social activities, as well as World War II.

Scrapbooks of Howard King and Ruth Loella Kinney Bidwell, 1909-1940; and Betty Lou Bidwell Morris, 1936-2015. Scrapbooks primarily focus on the academic, family, and social lives of Howard and Ruth Bidwell and their daughter Betty. This includes photographs of their family life, close friends and associates, as well as social activities both on and off campus. Also included are dance, identification, grade report, membership, postal, and school registration cards; announcements of births, engagements, and weddings; honors certificates; invitations and programs for commencement activities, special events, and student organizations. The collection also includes several newspaper clippings from the Michigan Daily (primarily focusing on campus activities and World War II); student and alumnae publications; and other ephemera.

Harry Burns Hutchins papers, 1879-1930

Professor of law and president of the University of Michigan. Papers include correspondence, reports, and speeches relating to all aspects of his University activities; and visual materials.

The Harry B. Hutchins papers cover the years 1879 through 1929, and include records generated during his years as professor and dean of the law department, President of the University of Michigan, and in retirement. Boxes 1-18 are primarily comprised of correspondence. Reports of the departments, schools, and other units of the university are contained in box 19, folders 30-32, and box 20, folders 1-13. As president, Hutchins did not regularly submit annual reports to the Board of Regents. Additional materials include speeches, photographs, and biographical material.

University of Michigan College of Engineering graduate (Class of 1916); engineer and army officer in World War I. Photograph album containing photos and memorabilia relating to Abbott's student activities; letter to his mother dated August 1918, with impressions of Europe during the war.

This collection includes a letter to Abbott's mother, dated August 1918, containing his impressions of England and France written shortly after his arrival in Europe, as well as a photograph album, circa 1910-1915, relating to student life at the University of Michigan.

The album of photographs and memorabilia relates to student activities, especially athletics, the Michigan Union Opera, Phi Delta Chi, Phi Kappa Sigma, Triangles, and Vulcans.

Professor of mechanical engineering, University of Michigan. Correspondence, committee reports, annual reports, and other papers, relating to the College of Engineering and to Boston's activities in professional societies; also photographs.

The collection, largely unprocessed, has been maintained in the order received. There were three recognizable series: Professional Correspondence, dating from 1924 to 1956; Miscellaneous University Files; and Miscellaneous Correspondence (which covers roughly the same period as the Professional Correspondence but which Boston maintained separately). There is also one folder of photographs.

Graduate of the College of Engineering of the University of Michigan in the class of 1911, later Detroit businessman. Papers and photographs relating to student life and activities.

The collection consists of programs and newspaper clippings largely concerning student life at the University of Michigan. The photographs are portraits and snapshots of Taylor, family members and friends; photographs of the construction of Barton Dam in Ann Arbor, Michigan; photographs of University of Michigan student surveying projects; and photographs of University of Michigan students, groups, and activities. In addition, there is an arithmetic notebook, 1833, of H. Green, student at the Detroit Academy. This item was probably collected by Taylor or perhaps in the possession of a family member.

The Vulcans record group consists of minutes, financial records, and photographs relating to the activities of the Vulcan Honors Society. In addition to two boxes of manuscript material and photographs, the record group includes an oversized folder of composite and group photographs of Vulcans.
