University of Michigan Class of 1917 graduate, member of the Druids, the University of Michigan honorary society, and of the Alpha Phi Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta. Scrapbook containing photographs, dance cards, and event programs.

Scrapbook contains photographs of the Alpha Phi chapter house exterior and of its interiors, group portraits and photographs taken during social and sporting events, and chapter activities; also select chapter publications, dance cards, event programs, and other ephemera. The scrapbook also contains Smith's portrait and his U.S. Army Signal Corps enlistment papers.

The collection, largely unprocessed, has been maintained in the order received. There were three recognizable series: Professional Correspondence, dating from 1924 to 1956; Miscellaneous University Files; and Miscellaneous Correspondence (which covers roughly the same period as the Professional Correspondence but which Boston maintained separately). There is also one folder of photographs.

The photographic materials deal mainly with the youth of Mrs. Lambert and her brother Frederick G. Novy, Jr. in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Included are two albums relating to Mrs. Lambert's childhood and youth at Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan, and at camp in New Hampshire. There is also a scrapbook of clippings and other memorabilia from the period when she was a student at the University of Michigan, 1910-1913.

The genealogical material consist of fourteen volumes, arranged alphabetically, and containing death and marriage notices from Michigan newspapers up to approximately 1865.

Businessman with the S. S. Kresge Company (later K mart Corporation) and philanthropist. Business records, materials relating to philanthropic activities, notably documenting the work of the Kresge Foundation, and family materials; also organizational materials, speeches, and photographs and motion pictures.

The Stanley Kresge Papers, an important source for the researcher interested in the history of the S.S. Kresge Company/K mart Corporation; the work of the Kresge Foundation; and the Kresge family, have been divided into six series: Kresge Company/K mart Corporation; Kresge Foundation; Organizations; Personal; Speeches; and Visual Materials. The collection has now been microfilmed to allow inter-library access to the collection. These 21 microfilm rolls comprise the bulk of Kresge's collection. Excluded from the microfilming have been a few folders of restricted financial materials, two oversize ledgers, and, of course, the motion picture films. The following finding aid is a guide to the entire collection with appropriate indication of files and other materials not part of the microfilm edition.

Hawley Tapping collection includes material documenting his student days at the University of Michigan and University of Iowa, the Acacia fraternity and his work as consultant to f University in the Philippine Islands and service to the University of Michigan Alumni Association. Aigler was a University of Michigan Law School professor who was heavily involved in university athletics. The collection consists primarily of extensive correspondence and Board in Control of Athletics documentation, but also includes papers written in both his legal and university capacities.

The Aigler collection consists of six series covering his collegiate and professional life: Correspondence, Board in Control of Athletics, Writings, University of Michigan Teaching and Administration, Legal Files, and Biographical. Through correspondence and topical files, the collection documents Aigler's university life and his life-long interest in intercollegiate athletics. The collection has strong potential for research regarding early University of Michigan athletics, and general correspondence to and from Aigler. While there is some material related to Aigler's teaching career, this area is not particularly strong.
