William DeHart Hubbard Scholarship Endowment Dinner video invitation, 2019

Online

Co-hosted by the Phi chapter and the University of Michigan, the second annual William DeHart Hubbard Scholarship Endowment Dinner was held to raise money for the William DeHart Hubbard Scholarship Endowment Fund (also known as the William DeHart Hubbard Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund). The dinner and fund honor William DeHart Hubbard, who was a Phi chapter member, University of Michigan alumnus, and the first African American individual Olympic gold medalist.

The video contains images and briefly describes Hubbard as well as five University of Michigan alumni who chartered the university's Phi chapter: Dewey Roscoe Jones, Lawson Edward Thomas, Howard Dobson Shaw, Floyd Howard Skinner, and John Richard Cottin.

She and her husband came to New York five years ago, presumably as free people, but a man named William Fanay claimed them as his slaves. He "has taken her pays from her that he may prove his Property which she firmly believes he cannot."
