Environmental group formed in 1978 by landowners in Clare County, Michigan in resistance to government plan to use pesticide to control gypsy moth population. The organization has since broadened its focus to include other environmental issues such as solid waste management, wetlands protection, the use of herbicides, concerns about toxic waste, and problems of pollution in Michigan. Series in this record group include organizational files, Eco Conferences, subject files, and related organizations. Organizational files includes minutes, newsletters, reports, correspondence, grant proposals, and other materials relating to the work of the organization. The Eco Conferences series documents annual conference bringing together speakers to lead talks and workshops. This series includes annual planning files and audiocassettes and videocassettes of the conferences. Subject files contains correspondence, reports, background information, and other information on environmental issues. Related organizations consists of files on other Michigan and local environmental groups.

The Citizens for Alternatives to Chemical Contamination record group provides an in-depth look at the life of a very active and influential Michigan environmental organization, for a period of nearly two decades -- from 1978 to 1997. While describing in particular the activities of one individual organization, the collection also lends itself to research about environmental issues and Michigan environmental organizations in general. The collection is arranged into four record series: Organizational Files, Eco Conferences, Subject Files, and Related Organizations.

Two year custody battle over "Baby Girl Clausen" between Jan and Robby DeBoer of Ann Arbor, Michigan and her biological parents Cara Clausen and Daniel Schmidt of Blairstown, Iowa; and the national child advocacy group Hear My Voice. The collection consists of correspondence, news clippings, press releases, photographs, audio cassette tapes, digital materials, video tapes, and legal papers such as petitions, briefs, judicial orders, and amicus briefs.

Entrepreneur and disability rights activist from Birmingham, Michigan. The collection document's Van Arnem's life and career through news clippings, columns that Heidi Van Arnem wrote for the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News, business materials, files relating to her advocacy and fundraising efforts, and visual materials.

The collection is arranged into four series, Personal and Entrepreneurial, Fundraising and Advocacy, News Clippings, and Visual Materials.

Ann Arbor, Michigan, women's center founded in 1977 to help women cope with adjusting to life after widowhood or divorce. Soundings' main focus has been on job readiness, but it has offered workshops, programs, and individual and group counseling sessions on such topics as reentry into the workforce, assertiveness training, personal finance, and physical and emotional health and well-being. Records include background and history materials, administration, board of directors, grants and fundraising activities, finances, and audiovisual materials. Also includes the records of the Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a separate agency.

The collection is divided into seven series: Background, Administrative, Domestic Violence Project, Board of Directors, Grants and Fundraising, Financial, and Audiovisual. Types of materials and information include audio tapes and videotapes (primarily featuring interviews with Soundings staff and members), albums, photographs, slides, clippings, newsletters, annual reports, program files, client letters, workshop files, board meeting minutes, financial summaries, funding information and grant proposals, background and miscellaneous information, and files from the Domestic Violence Project, Inc. (a related agency).

University of Michigan office operating since 1971 that deals with human sexuality and gender identity support and advocacy for students, faculty, and staff. Records consist of administrative and topical files of the Spectrum Center and its predecessor offices and relate to the operation of the office; outreach programs; advocacy efforts; background on university housing issues; same sex benefits; as well as local, state, and national issues pertaining to LGBTQ rights. Documentation also includes posters; photos of rights marches, gay pride events, and celebration events; audio-visual material; and oral histories.

The records of the Spectrum Center document the activities of the center from 1976 to 2012, 2019-2021 (bulk 1987-2012). Materials in this record group consist of correspondence (including electronic mail printouts and memoranda), clippings, educational training manuals, minutes, reports, topical files, photographic materials, audio and visual materials, and oral histories.

Established in 1976 by the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and the Arts, the Gayle Morris Sweetland Center for Writing (originally the English Composition Board) administers the writing program of the College and provides writing courses and assistance for students of the University from freshman year through graduate school. Collection contains administrative files covering all aspects of the Center's history as well as printed material and publications.

Non-profit organization providing energy efficiency information and services to homes and businesses in Michigan. Name changed in 2009 to Michigan Energy Options. Collection includes administrative and financial files; records of grants, programs, and services; documentation of the Energy Demonstration House; records of the organization’s work with regional task forces and issue advocacy; seminar and curriculum development materials; printed brochures and newsletters; press releases and clippings; and photographs and slides of staff and volunteers, the Energy Demonstration House, and exhibits and events.

The Urban Options records provide an in-depth look at the work of this non-profit energy efficiency organization from its founding in 1978 until 2002. The collection documents how Urban Options was managed as it grew and integrated new services; how programs were developed and implemented; how the organization delivered its message of energy efficiency and sustainability through publications and media outreach, and how it sought institutional and individual support for its work. The records are arranged into eight series.

Life insurance executive, leader of a citizens tax limitation movement in Michigan, officer of Taxpayers United for Tax Limitation. Subject files relating to the tax limitation movement in Michigan, especially the work of Taxpayers United for Tax Limitation and Taxpayers United Federation; includes photographs, video cassettes, and news clippings.

The Richard H. Headlee Papers document the activities of the principal leader of the "tax revolt" in Michigan in the 1970s and 1980s. The papers include material on the major organizations Headlee founded or was affiliated with, the voter initiative which resulted in passage of Proposal E (the "Headlee Amendment") restricting growth in property taxes, and Headlee's campaign for governor in 1988.

The papers were received in two major accessions. The first, received in 1988, has been arranged in three series: Taxpayers United for Tax Limitation, Taxpayers United Federation, and Topical Files. The second accession, received in 1994, has been divided into six series: Correspondence, Headlee for Governor (1988), Headlee Initiative, Taxpayers United for the Michigan Constitution, Visual Materials, and Clippings.

Videotaped recordings of University of Michigan Football (1975-2010) and Men's Basketball (1990-2010) coaches' television show, providing weekly recaps and previews of games during the season. Thirty minute programs featuring the head coach, include game highlights and commentary and usually one or more guests.

The Michigan Replay collection consists of videotape recordings of broadcasts of weekly (in season) coach's show for University of Michigan football and men's basketball. The football Michigan Replay Show went on the air in 1975 with twelve to sixteen programs per year. Larry Adderlyler was the host from 1975 to 1979 when Jim Brandstatter took over. In 2008 the title was changed to Inside Michigan Football. The basketball coach's show was first broadcast in 1990 under the title Michigan Basketball Preview and became Michigan Replay in 1999/2000.

The format of the half-hour show was a host and the head coach in a studio setting reviewing the previous weeks games and previewing the upcoming games. Typically there would be one or more guests and often a short topical story. The shows were recorded on 3/4-inch videotape through 1993 and then on BetaSp tape. There are 1-inch tapes for some programs. Tapes for some programs are missing. The football Michigan Replay shows 1975-1992 (those recorded on 3/4-inch tape) have bee digitized.

County Executive of Oakland County Michigan since 1992, former prosecuting attorney in Oakland County; collection includes typed copies of Patterson's speeches, roasts, and editorials; newspaper clippings on topics important to Patterson; press releases; and promotional and other videotapes.

The L. Brooks Patterson collection includes typed copies of Patterson's speeches, roasts, and editorials; newspaper clippings on topics important to Patterson; press releases; and promotional and other videotapes. The collection is organized into the following series: Speeches, Roasts, Press, Miscellaneous, and Other Media.

Statewide provider of comprehensive end-of-life care. The record group mainly documents the management of Ann Arbor-based Individualized Home Nursing Care. Administrative records include audits, correspondence, meeting minutes and tax returns. There are also visual materials such as VHS videotapes and photographs.

The records of Hospice of Michigan provide insight into the creation, management, and daily work associated with Individualized Home Nursing Care. The collection is broken into two main series: Administration and Visual Materials.

Teach-in organized by University of Michigan students. Held from November 2-4, 1975, this three-day teach-in investigated the role of technology in corporate and government "control." Specific topics included: assassinations, corporate manipulation, subversion of the forces of dissent, police repression, surveillance and dataveillance, and mind control. DVD and streaming files from original EIAJ 1/2" open-reel videotapes of speakers at all sessions.

The collection consists of nineteen original recordings on 1/2-inch EIAJ reel-to-reel videotapes of the teach-in and one folder with teach-in schedules and outlines as well as handwritten notes taken during the sessions (writer unknown). In 2009 preservation and use copies of the tapes were made including a Beta SP preservation master, a DVD copy and a streaming file. The original tapes were in relatively good condition, though there are occasional problems with audio and video levels in the recordings and occasional tracking and dropout problems during dubbing. The derivatives were created on a one-to-one basis with the original.

The Renewal Ministries collection consists of videotapes (various formats) of organizational outreach programs, retreats, and rallies. The bulk of the collection is made up of videotapes of the long-running television program hosted by Ralph Martin entitled "The Choices we Face." There are other tapes of rallies held in Lithuania, Poland, and Jerusalem. Other materials predate the establishment of the organization. These include conferences held at Notre Dame and in Kansas City in the 1970s. The collection also includes some publications written by Martin, many of these in European languages.

This collection includes material regarding the activities of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., Chapter 9 (Detroit, Mich.). Some members of this group have also been involved in the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) State of Michigan Council, as well as the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund and Vietnam Monument Commission so materials from these groups have also been included in this collection.

The collection includes files relating to Clonlara School and to the Clonlara Home Based Education Program, as well as to Montgomery’s work with various organizations, including the National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools and the National Homeschool Association.

Records of Taxpayers United Federation (and the two organizations from which it was formed, Taxpayers Federation of Michigan, and Taxpayers United for Tax Limitation), both organizations concerned with state tax limitation ballot proposals. Board of Director's and president's files, correspondence, clippings, photographs, videotapes, newsletters and other organizational records; contain material concerning ballot drives in 1976, 1978, and 1980.

The Taxpayers United Federation Records are comprised of three series: Taxpayers Federation of Michigan; Taxpayers United for Tax Limitation; and Taxpayers United Federation. Each series is arranged first chronologically by year, then alphabetically by topic. While correspondence in each series is in chronological order by month, the researcher is advised that, whenever possible, correspondence has been left with appropriate topical files.

The Michigan Sea Grant Program is a joint project between the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) addressing issues concerning the livelihood of the Michigan Great Lakes area. Includes technical reports, annual reports, newsletters, brochures and other printed material produced by the program.

The Michigan Sea Grant Program Publications consist of 5.5 linear feet which includes annual reports, brochures, extension bulletins, directories, ephemera including flyers, fact sheets, posters, programs, histories, manuals, newsletters, proceedings of conferences sponsored by Michigan Sea Grant, and reports. These publications are divided into two series: Unit Publications and Topical Publications. The bulk of the publications are technical reports that were published between 1972-1998.
