Photographs and sound recordings of Alston remarks at the dedication of the Robert Hayden Lounge in the University of Michigan Center for Afroamerican and African Studies in 1988. The Center was renamed the Department Afroamerican and African Studies in 2011. A 1988 discussion between Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Alston, William McAdoo, and member of the Bentley Historical Library staff about African American historical material housed at the Bentley. Interview conducted by William McAdoo (1990, includes transcript) relating to the Inventory of Negro Manuscripts project at the Bentley Historical Library.

The Michael O'Brien collection of taped interviews consists of 60 cassette tapes conducted over the period of 1987 to 1990. Most of the interviews were conducted over the phone.

Oral history project focused on elder public health and community health nurses. Project leader Stephanie Myers Schim completed a dissertation based on the interviews. Administrative files on the project, background material on interviews, audio cassette tapes, transcripts of some interviews, and articles on the project including the dissertation "Leadership Expression of Elder Community Health Nurse Leaders in Michigan."

The Michigan Leaders in Community Health Nursing oral history project material consists of three series: Documentation and Research, Publication and Dissertation, and Audio Materials. The records date from 1986 to 1997.

The Michigan Alliance of Cooperatives videotapes include recordings of programs, oral history interviews, and panel discussions on topics of concern to cooperatives. Most of the tapes are professional broadcast U-matic videocassettes and master broadcast U-matic videocassettes with a few VHS cassettes. Cooperative leaders represented on the tapes include Fred Thornthwaite, Cecil Robert Crews, Luther Buchele, Jack McClanahan, and Joseph L. Hansknecht among others.

University of Michigan faculty group interested in the history of the university. Sound recordings and videotapes of interviews with former University of Michigan faculty, regents, administrators, and other interested individuals about the history of the university.

The materials in the Historica Critica collection are arranged first according to the medium on which the interview is preserved: Reel-to-Reel Audiotapes, Cassette Audiotapes, and Videotapes. Within each medium, the materials are in alphabetical order according to the subject of the interview. Some of the reel-to-reel audiotapes have more than one interview subject; these are arranged alphabetically according to the primary subject. It appears that the interviewers transferred the materials on reel-to-reel audiotapes directly to cassettes in several cases. This facilitates the arrangement of the cassettes into alphabetical order according to subject. The dates listed in the finding aid are the dates of the interview. Summaries of the interviews, prepared by Virginia Harris, are found in Box 1.

The records of the Casa de Unidad Cultural Arts and Media Center cover the organization's efforts to promote, develop, and celebrate Hispanic and Latino arts and traditions in Southwest Detroit. The record group consists primarily of correspondence, board minutes, grant proposals and reports, newsletters, event and program budgets, event flyers, educational workshop reports and audio material.

The records of Casa de Unidad cover the period between 1980 and 2006. The collection consists primarily of correspondence, board minutes, grant proposals and reports, newsletters, event and program budgets, event flyers, educational workshop reports and audio material. The majority of the material is in English, though a small number of flyers, newsletters, and audio recordings are in Spanish. The collection contains the following series: Administrative Material, Educational/Artistic Activities, Unity in the Community Festival, and Audio Material.

Oral history project of the Michigan Historical Collection to document politics and government during the gubernatorial administration of G. Mennen Williams; transcripts of interviews, sound cassettes, and administrative records of the project.

This is a collection of oral history tapes and interviews relating to the history of the gubernatorial administration of G. Mennen Williams. Interviews have been arranged alphabetically and include Paul Adams, Michael Berry, Geraldine N. Bledsoe, Ernest R. Boehm, Raymond Clevenger, John D. Dingell, Tom Downs, Alfred B. Fitt, Hicks and Martha Griffiths, Adelaide Hart, Jane B. Hart, Erma Henderson, Stella Lecznar, Wade H. McCree, Louis Mezzano, Victor G. Reuther, Horace Sheffield, Otis Smith, Paul W. The Turner Geriatric Clinic was established in 1978 as an extension of the University of Michigan Hospital and is devoted to the medical and social care of the elderly. The collection ranges from 1979 to 2009 (bulk 1990-2008) and contains material on community and social work programs, including photographs, video and audio cassettes, information on programs sponsored by the Center, publications, and material from the U.S.-Japan Training Institute.

The collection consists of materials from the Turner Geriatric Clinic that begins when the Center was established in 1979 and ends with records from 2009, with the bulk covering 1990-2008. The collection contains eight series: Personal Files, Photographs, Programs, Publications, Publicity, Topical Files, U.S.-Japan Institute, and Audio-Visual Materials.

Transcripts and cassette tapes of oral interviews conducted by students in class on the Vietnam War.

The collection consists of transcripts and cassette tapes made by students in the class on the Vietnam War taught by University of Michigan professor Norman Owen. The interviewees were members of the military, Vietnamese refugees, draft resisters, and anti-war activists. There is also a smaller series of files relating to Vietnam War veterans affairs.

Three of the interviewees requested that they remain anonymous in any publication made from their words. These interviews require that the researcher sign a statement of confidentiality.

Transcripts of oral history project relating to the political and social protests of the 1950s and 1960s, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The collection consists of fifty transcripts of oral history interviews relating to political and social protests in Ann Arbor in the 1950s and 1960s. Topics of discussion in the interview include civil rights demonstrations, draft resistance and other opposition to the Vietnam War, feminism and the equal rights movement, alternative lifestyles, gay rights, the drug culture, student rights, and the influence of rock and roll music. Oral history project relating to women in the trade union movement; interviews and administrative records from the project.

The records of the "The Twentieth Century Trade Union Woman: Vehicle for Social Change" oral history project include transcripts of completed interviews, rough drafts and incomplete versions of other interview; administrative files of the project, and subject files. Also included are the cassette tapes of the interviews, microfiche or microfilm copies of the completed interviews which in 1979 which open to research, and a copy of the Rocking the Boat book. The Administrative Files: Interviewees series is arranged alphabetically by name of interviewee and includes correspondence, vita of the individual, notes of the interviewer, articles, and other miscellaneous background information. The Project subject files, also arranged alphabetically, includes general correspondence, records of advisory board meetings, grant proposals, and correspondence with individuals considered by not interviewed.

Oral history project undertaken by Professor John Tevebaugh of Grand Valley State Colleges in 1976. The focus of the interviews was the history of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Oral history project undertaken by Professor John Tevebaugh of Grand Valley State Colleges in 1976. The focus of the interviews was the history of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Interviewees included longtime residents of the city, church, business, and community leaders, as well as representatives of Grand Rapids ethnic groups. The interviews were subsequently used as the basis for a WUOM radio series entitled, "Fitzgerald's Prophecy." There are currently no transcripts for the interviews. There are, however, notes made from some of the interviews. These interview notes include individuals for whom there are no extant tapes.

The Kongas collection consists of the results of the project to document the lives of farm women living in Southern Michigan. The collection includes tapes of oral interviews, transcripts of the interviews, background materials, and miscellaneous photographs and slides.

Grant project of the Center for Chinese Studies of the University of Michigan to locate and collect materials of visitors to the Peoples Republic of China since the reopening of diplomatic contact in 1971. Printed and manuscript diaries and journals, recollections, reports, correspondence, and audio-tapes; oral interviews with members of the United States Table Tennis Association team; and administrative files.

This record group consists of the following series: Americans in China, 1971-1980; Oral interviews, transcripts, and other sound recordings; Administrative and Background files; and Visual materials.

The bulk of the record group is the Americans in China series, which is arranged alphabetically by the name of the individual or group visiting China. As part of the grant, the project head created a detailed subject guide to the contents of the files. This 313 page guide, entitled Americans in China 1971-1980; a guide to the University of Michigan National Archive on Sino-American Relations is available at the Bentley Historical Library and at several other college and university libraries. Organization of women faculty members established to exchange information about their status as faculty women and to investigate and resolve issues of special concern. records include history, awards files, correspondence, minutes, topical files, photographs, and video and sound recordings.

The records of the Academic Women's Caucus (AWC) provide an almost complete history of the AWC from its origins to the present, although the materials documenting the years 1972-1974 are not particularly strong. Many of the early records are from the co-chair Aline Soules. The records do provide valuable documentation of the general concerns of women faculty members at a major research university.

Oral history interviews with residents of Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and other Washtenaw County, Michigan, locales largely concerning their remembrances of their lives and activities during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

The sound recordings were received in different accessions depending mainly on the date of the interview. The first accession was largely made up of interviews conducted by the Ypsilanti Historical Society and related to the history of Ypsilanti and surrounding areas. The second accession is comprised of interviews with individuals relating to Ann Arbor business establishments. The later accessions were miscellaneous interviews on Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County history. Accompanying almost all of the interviews were summary sheets providing a condensation of the interview. The listing below notes the interviews which lack a summary.

The library has releases from about half of the interviewees. Interviews with releases are noted in the listing below.

Organization dedicated to furthering "the art of playing the Hammered Dulcimer" founded in 1963 by Elgia C. Hickok in Michigan. Records include correspondence, minutes, newsletters, programs, event flyers, and oral histories, sound recordings of interviews and meetings, and photographs.

The Original Dulcimer Players Club records document the group's organization and activities from its founding in 1963. The records are arranged into six series: Administrative materials, Publications and events, Articles and newspaper clippings, Miscellaneous, Visual materials, and Audio materials.
