Papers of a soldier with the 339th Infantry in the Allied intervention in Russia, 1918-1920, the "Polar Bear Expedition."

Includes Wade's correspondence mainly to his family, during his service at Fort Sheridan, Illinois Battle Creek, Michigan Camp Mills, New York and Russia (primarily Bakaritsa and Archangel). Wade's papers also include his detailed response to a questionnaire from a student studying the North Russian Expedition and a roster of the Supply Company. Also, photographs and a photograph album. The Dan Sicko Papers comprise the written work and research undertaken by Sicko on the topic of Detroit techno music and its significance for the broader techno genre. The collection's four series contain materials pertaining to Sicko's book Techno Rebels: The Renegades of Electronic Funk, articles written over the course of Sicko's career as a freelance music journalist, popular and scholarly articles written by others, industry-specific and general interest periodicals, and sound recordings of interviews with Detroit-based techno artists, producers, and distributors.

The Dan Sicko Papers comprise over two decades of Sicko's writings and research materials pertaining to the history of Detroit techno music and its role in the electronic music industry. The collection is divided into four series: Writings, Research Materials, Periodicals, and Sound Recordings.

The Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies Announcements, Bulletins and Handbooks series consists of publications directly related to graduate school policies and procedures and includes information on degree program requirements and curriculum.

Academic degree program requirements are defined in what is called the university "bulletin" or general catalog. For example, program requirements outline how many credits and what subjects a student needs to complete in order to receive a degree in an academic program within a specific school or college. At the University of Michigan, the degree program requirements are positioned as a contract between the university and the student with regard to the definition and program requirements.

Included in this series are the Announcement (or Bulletin), Graduate Student Handbook and Information for Graduate Students. Some publications (or their successors) may no longer be available in print but are available on the school s website.

Note that other publications produced by the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies, such as Rackham Reports, are separately cataloged.

The Michigan Today records (4 linear feet and digital files) date from 1968 to 2007 and will be received on an ongoing basis. These records constitute a full run of the publication, as well as additional materials documenting the photographic research process. There are four series in the collection: Michigan Today: Print Edition, Michigan Today: Online Edition, Photographs, and Michigan Today: NewsE.

The Michigan Today: Online Edition series consists of the digital files used to publish the magazine to the web. It contains selected issues from the early online version of Michigan Today (published from March 1993 to July 2007) and all issues of the current online version of Michigan Today. Beginning in 2001, unique content was created for the online version of Michigan Today. An "Alumnae/Alumni News" section was published exclusively in the online version of the magazine and a "Books" section was published with additional content in the online version of the publication. Also, the current online version of Michigan Today published from September 2007 is included in this series. This represents the primary version of Michigan Today still being published.

The Smith-Parker-Hicks-Winegar Family Papers document the history of several branches of the family who settled in Southern Michigan in the mid-1830s. The collection's seven series contain genealogical records, biographical materials, financial and business records, family correspondence, travel papers, military papers, as well as collected news clippings and scrapbooks about the Detroit Tigers.

The Smith-Parker-Hicks-Winegar Family Papers comprises the papers of various family members collected and maintained by Dr. George and Mrs. Lois Winegar. The collection is divided into seven series: Genealogical Papers and Miscellaneous Family Records, the Robert R. Smith papers, the Blanche Smith Parker papers, the Lois V. Parker Hicks papers, the W. J. Bryan Hicks papers, the George and Lois Winegar papers, and the Detroit Tigers Scrapbooks and Collected Material. The collection is organized around individual family members except for the first series, which contains genealogical and personal papers of multiple people from various family branches.

Two lawsuits filed in 1997 (Gratz, et al. v. Bollinger; and Grutter, et al. v. Bollinger) made the University of Michigan a focal point in the national debate over the value and legality of affirmative action in higher education. The lawsuits brought by non-minority applicants challenged the legality of the university's admissions process. Documentation includes briefs, judicial orders and opinions, expert reports, trial transcripts and exhibits, and amicus briefs from companies and organizations supporting the university's position in both the Gratz and Grutter case. Also included are snapshot of the university's admissions lawsuits website and clippings and media files.

The records are organized in four series, Grutter v. Bollinger, et al., Gratz v. Bollinger, et al., Admissions Lawsuits Website and News Media. The first three series contain briefs, judicial orders and opinions, experts' reports, amicus briefs from companies and organizations supporting the university's position in the lawsuits, and a limited number of press releases and documents printed from the website maintained by the university's News and Information Services regarding the lawsuits. The News Media series, however, is entirely comprised of news articles, editorials and press releases from newspapers across the country. Note that the record group currently contains only public documents. It does not contain internal General Counsel documents or correspondence regarding the lawsuits.
