New World State Wide V’s Realty Michigan real estate publications, 1973-2011

New World State Wide V’s Realty’s collection of Michigan real estate data and sales books for Albion County (1997-2003), Hillsdale County (1995-1999), Jackson County (1994-2009), Lenawee County (1993-2007, and 2010), Monroe (1988, 1993-1994, and 1996-2009), Washtenaw County (1973-2011), and Wayne County (1976-1982, 1985, and 1988-2004).

The New World State Wide V's Realty property listings and sales book collection contains materials for Albion, Hillsdale, Lenawee, Monroe, parts of Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne Counties of the state of Michigan. Materials are arranged in alphabetical order by county and in chronological order within each county.

Materials for the Washtenaw County contain a number of types of publications --comparable sales books, data books, and Real Estate Pace summary reports. Depending on the time period, materials were published separately or jointly by Ypsilanti Board of Realtors and Ann Arbor Board of Realtors, or by the Ann Arbor Area Board of Realtors. Due to this complexity, Washtenaw County materials are arranged in strict chronological order, with each box containing all available materials produced by different boards for the same areas and years.

Publications for Wayne County arranged by area or Realty Board and in chronological order within each area.

Collection also includes Women's Council of Realtors Roster (1978) and 1 folder containing materials of the KWS Realty (Ann Arbor and Southfield) with descriptions of several commercial properties in Ann Arbor (1991).

N. Harris McClamroch papers, 1967-2017

Professor of aerospace engineering and a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at the University of Michigan. McClamroch served as the chair of the Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs (SACUA) during the 1980s and the chair of the Department of Aerospace Engineering during the 1990s. Consists of correspondence and reports regarding projects and complications handled by the SACUA. Also included are a memoir, a history of the Department of Aerospace Engineering, and other biographical records.

The N. Harris McClamroch papers contain material from his career at the University of Michigan beginning in 1967 and extends beyond his retirement in 2010. The bulk of the collection consists of administrative documents related to McClamroch's involvement in university matters, and professional organizations. Correspondence sent to and from McClamroch detail the decisions and challenges that were faced by the Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs during the 1990s. One folder includes correspondence from a search committee during the evaluation of McClamroch for his advancement to Chair of the Department of Aerospace Engineering. A portion of the collection consists of biographical material, such as a memoir and curricula vitae. Yearly activity reports document research and projects that McClamroch worked on each year.

Nomads records, 1965-2011

Detroit, Mich. based travel group which toured destinations throughout the world. Records include tour files arranged by destination. These files consist of description of the proposed tour, itineraries of events, and list of tour members. The collection also has organization newsletter Nomad Notes and The Nomad; and photographs from the social activities of the group.

The papers and photographs of the Nomads were initially processed by the organization in the summer of 1989. The collection was gathered from the office records of the Club as well as from the private collections of various members, especially those of Joseph and Anne Marie Benich. Additional items were processed in the spring of 1990 and 1991.

Office of Academic Human Resources (University of Michigan) promotion casebooks, 1961-2023

The University of Michigan's Office of Academic Human Resources (AHR) provides human resource services for various university faculty and graduate student employees. Its staff are responsible for union contract issues and processes for academic employees as well as managing the tenure and promotion process for the Provost's office. The collection consists of hard copy and digital promotion casebooks for University of Michigan faculty and research staff at the Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Flint campuses. Also included are promotion guidelines and checklists.

The Office of Academic Human Resources Promotion Casebooks record group primarily consists of files on various tenure-track faculty members recommended by the leaders of colleges, schools, divisions, and institutes to the Board of Regents for promotion and/or tenure. Each individual's file typically includes the notification of the Regents' decision in the case, the promotion recommendation from the dean (or appropriate unit leader), a curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation, and related documentation. The records are arranged chronologically by academic year and then alphabetically by academic unit. Larger schools and colleges associated with the University of Michigan Ann Arbor's campus, such as the College of Engineering; College of Literature, Science and the Arts; and the Medical School, are often further subdivided by department or division. Files for the UM-Dearborn and UM-Flint campuses are usually located at the end of each year and are also subdivided as appropriate. Particularly for the later years, as the files become more voluminous, additional documentation may be present, such as examples of research or teaching evaluations. In some cases, there is some blurring of the academic year or a promotion file was held back. For those reasons, those seeking a particular file may be compelled to look in one or more years—and particularly consult the appropriate out of season casebooks—to locate the sought-after file. In addition to these casebooks, the record group also includes promotion and tenure guidelines and checklists for particular academic years.

Records include administrative files; materials relating to various programs and activities; and topical files. The topical files include extensive information on the yearly Hispanic Heritage Celebrations.

The records of the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs consist of files on the administration of MESA, student, university, and community organizations, various programming, events, and activities, and topics such as student information relating to the Hispanic representative. The Hispanic Heritage Celebration is well documented in these records, as well as student organization grant applications, and the Growing Allies retreat.

Materials include correspondence, flyers, brochures, and other promotional materials, grant applications, meeting agendas, memos, minutes, PowerPoints and other presentation materials, photographs, and video.

Also includes publications from the Center for Human Growth and Development, Center for the Study of Complex Systems, the Detroit Observatory, Institute for Research on Women and Gender, Jerome B. Wiesner Symposium, Planning Committee on the Merger, and the Substance Abuse Center.

The Office of Research Publications (3.4 linear feet and 145.7 MB ) include annual reports, brochures, budgets, bulletins, ephemera, manuals, newsletters, policy statements, and reports. These publications are divided into two series: Unit Publications and Sub-Unit Publications. The bulk of the publications document the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Center for Human Growth and Development, the Detroit Observatory, and the University of Michigan Substance Abuse Center (UMSAC) which became the University of Michigan Substance Abuse Research Center (UMSARC). Other sub-units under the jurisdiction of the Office of Vice President for Research include the Michigan Memorial Phoenix Project, University of Michigan Division of Research Development and Administration, University of Michigan Institute of Gerontology, and University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. Officially established in 1959, the Office of Research supports and administers large interdisciplinary projects called research centers and administers research institutes. The record group includes individual vice president's files, central office files, staff files, financial records, administrative files, committee and task force documents and reports, special event files, and project and institute files.

The records of the vice-president for research date from 1911 to 2013 and measure 323.5 linear feet, 1 oversize box and 157 MB of digital materials. The records document the activities of the office overseeing grant funded research at the University of Michigan and offer some insight into the range of research undertaken at the university. Records include administrative files of vice-presidents, including correspondence, memoranda, and budgetary material relating to research projects and grants of university units and departments; and photographs.

The organization of the records, particularly the early accessions, reflects the tenure of the successive vice presidents for research. Later accessions included files of associate vice-presidents and senior staff officers as well topically organized files that spanned the tenure of several vice presidents. Publications produced by the University of Michigan registrar's office including course descriptions and time schedules, statistics and reports on enrollment, and a variety of brochures, manuals and handbooks.

The Publications subgroup of the Office of the Registrar consists primarily of statistical summaries and reports in addition to several brochures, newsletters, and instructional manuals (the latter of which were intended to help faculty and staff understand and provide assistance with the registration process). Categories of statistics include degrees conferred, student retention rates, measures of the student body's diversity, student grades, and enrollment figures by various categories including minority group, graduates by campus, degree level, field of specialization, and credit hours and undergraduate grade point averages. Diversity statistics include a number of reports from the 1970s and 1980s produced by the Office of Affirmative Action with assistance from the Office of the Registrar. Enrollment statistics include the Report of the Registrar of the University and the Term Enrollment and Credit Hour Report. Other significant records include reports on fees and fee regulations.

The Time Schedule, which has been published several different names, documents the courses offered by the University of Michigan each academic year. Print versions of the Time Schedule have also been cataloged under call number 0393 Bimu B5 2. These publications include the Time Schedule (1928-1995), the Schedule of Courses (1995-2002) and the Schedule of Classes (2003-2004). In the Winter Term of 2004, the Office of the Registrar launched a digital-only version of the Schedule of Classes that is available in the Bentley Library digital repository and accessible via links in the online version of this finding aid.

The subgroup also contains technical documentation of the Computer Registration Involving Student Participation (CRISP) system from the 1970s as well as development guidelines and end user documentation of the Academic Record online computerized database from the 1990s.
