The Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology was founded in 2001 when the Department of Biology split into two separate departments, the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. The collection spans from 1998-2009 with the bulk of the material being from 2001-2009. The collection contains correspondence, administrative information, documents from the transitional team, and publications.

Publications produced the University of Michigan Department of English Language and Literature, its sub-units and student organizations, including newsletters, anthologies, reports, histories, flyers and posters.

The Department of English Language and Literature Publications, (1.8 linear feet) include brochures, flyers, newsletters, and posters as well as student publications and faculty publications, dating from the years 1942 to 2017. There are four series: Unit Publications, Sub-Unit Publications, Student Publications and Topical Publications.

The University of Michigan Department of Family Medicine was founded as the Department of Family Practice in 1978. The department provides education to graduates in family medicine, operates family practice centers in Michigan as part of the residency program, and conducts research. Material includes accreditation and annual reports, correspondence, departmental reviews, residency training material, photographs, publications, topical files, and web archives.

The Department of Family Medicine records document the founding and history of the department and its various practices, particularly the Chelsea Family Practice Center. Materials in this collection consist of accreditation and annual reports, correspondence, departmental reviews, residency training material, photographs, publications, topical files, and web archives.

Germanic Languages and Literature became an independent department at the University of Michigan in 1887, prior to that German language was taught under Modern Languages. Course offerings expanded to include German, Swedish, Norwegian, Gothic, Netherlands, and Yiddish. Departmental records pertaining to curriculums staffing, events, faculty, and the operation of the department. Minutes date from 1929 to 1941, and 1985-2000. Faculty files include William H. Bennett, Francis Brown, Martin Dyck, John W. Eaton, Emery George, Otto Graf, Leta Lewis, Henry Nordmeyer, Clarence K. Pott, Walter Reichart, Alice Tramm, Frederick B. Wahr, and Norman Willey.

Records from the University of Michigan Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures were received in three accessions from the department in 2005, 2006, and 2008. The material is described as one collection and is primarily comprised of records related to departmental administrative functions, events and publications, curriculum, and faculty. Files document departmental meetings, graduate and undergraduate curriculum, rotational reviews, staffing plans, personnel information, and faculty.

The records measure 1.6 linear feet, and date from 1929 to 2009, with the majority of materials from the period between 1945 and 1980. The records are primarily comprised of correspondence, minutes, personnel materials, and administrative files and are arranged into five series: Administrative, Curriculum, Events, Publications, and Faculty.

The Department of History of Art was originally established as the Department of Fine Arts in 1911. The collection ranges from 1946 to 2013 and primarily contains personnel files, newsletters and other departmental publications, and meeting minutes of the Executive Committee and Faculty Meetings.

The Department of History of Art collection is comprised up of three series: Personnel, Publications, and Administration.

The Department of History is an academic department within the University of Michigan established in 1845. The department was originally part of the School of Political Science but separated in 1910 and became a separate department within the College of Literature, Science, and Arts. The collection ranges from 1884 to 2011 with the bulk of the material from the 1970s and the 1980s. The records contain information on administrative matters and operations within the department, including correspondence, memos, meeting minutes, committee information, faculty information, and student affairs.

The University of Michigan Department of History records contain a large range of documentation regarding the operation, administration, statistics, faculty, and proceedings of the department. The bulk of the collection originally arrived at the Bentley in 1988 and a large addition was made in 2012. The collection spans from 1884 to 2017, however, the bulk of the content dates between 1970 and 1990. The collection is divided into fifteen series: Awards, College of LSA, Committees, Correspondence, Department, Faculty, Finances, General, Graduate Program, International Relations, Lecture Series, Partner Institutions, Programs, Publications, Student Affairs, and University of Michigan.

The collection is comprised of annual reports, brochures and pamphlets, programs, proposals, and reports from the Department of Internal Medicine. This includes publications from subunits and related clinics such as the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, the Committee on Medical Ethics, the Division of Molecular and Human Genetics, the Division of General Medicine, and the Medical Center.

The Department of Internal Medicine Publications contains two series, Unit Publications and Sub-Unit Publications. The Unit Publications series contains printed material published specifically by the Department of Internal Medicine. These publications are defined as being widely distributed and may be published at regular intervals. They are arranged by genre of the publication. The Sub-Unit Publications series contains publications from subordinate offices, departments, programs and organizations within the Department of Internal Medicine. These publications are arranged alphabetically by the creating sub-unit.

Unit of the University of Michigan Medical School. Records include minutes of meetings of senior staff members; also other materials concerning intern and residency training, and scattered correspondence and lecture notes; includes chairperson's files of John M. Carethers, John Del Valle, H. David Humes, William N. Kelley, Marc Lippman, Lawrence McMahon, and Tadataka Yamada. Also included are divisional files, administrative records, and photographs (including negatives and proofs) of faculty and staff.

The records of the department have arrived in five separate accessions in 1986, 1992, 1998, 2014, and 2018.

The 1992 accession of the records of the Department of Internal Medicine are primarily from the years when William Kelley served as chair (1975-1989). The accession is divided into five series: Division Files, Topical Files, Meeting Minutes, Chairperson's Files, and Pollard Medical Research Institute.

The 1998 accession contains the files of Chris Durovich, the Chief Administrator of the Department of Internal Medicine and covers the period from 1990 to 1996. As one would expect given this origin, these materials are focused more on the administration of the department than on its medical mission. The many topical files relating to managed care and organizational restructuring (such as the Cost Effectiveness Program (CEP), Redesign Coordinating Group, and Structure Work Group) reveal the many pressures on the department during this period. Durovich was also active in many inter and intradepartmental committees and workgroups, including the Clinical Departmental Administrators and meetings. This accession is divided into two series: Topical Files and Financial Files.

The 2014 accession is divided into five series: Division Files, Chairperson's Files, Financial Files, Topical Files, and Photographs. Material includes correspondence of former key figures, including department chairs Drs. William N. Kelley (1975-1989), Tadataka Yamada (1990-1996), H. David Humes (1996-2000), and John M. Carethers (2009-present), Medical School Dean Giles G. Bole Jr. (1990-1996), and George D. Zuidema (professor of surgery and Vice Provost Emeritus for Medical Affairs/1984-1994). Other materials highlight the department's efforts to attract and honor outstanding faculty and staff, monitor on-going operations, identify issues, gather and evaluate information, and recommend courses of action. These materials also shed light on the department's need to allocate additional work spaces, develop specific programs for education, training, research, and practice, and manage finances. These facets are all evident as researchers will discover files pertaining to faculty awards, committees, space planning proposals, events, program descriptions, financial data, and images of faculty and staff. The 2018 accession contains materials related to the department's Medical Ethics Committee dated in the 1990s. Included are questionnaires completed by staff physicians with narratives about situations relevant to professional ethics in their daily work.

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science is a teaching and research unit of the University of Michigan Medical School. The collection consists of publications produced by the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science and the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center, including annual reports, newsletters, brochures and histories.

Publications are divided into two series: Unit Publications and Sub-Unit Publications.

The series Unit Publications contains a brochure and a proposal regarding the consolidation of ophthalmology services at the university into one center as well as a 1999 history "A Heritage of Excellence: The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Michigan 1872-1999." There is also a program from a concert in 1997 Symphonic Visions, celebrating the 125th anniversary.

The series Sub-Unit Publications contains annual reports, brochures, directories, newsletters and reports of the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center. The newsletter Advances in Ophthalmology begins in 2001. Dedication and groundbreaking material for the Kellogg Eye Center and the Brehm Center are also included.
