The Rosemont Papers comprise the writings, papers, and correspondence of Franklin and Penelope Rosemont. Major subjects include the Surrealist Movement in Chicago, the United States, and internationally; the publishing activities of Black Swan Press and Charles H. Kerr Company; the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW); and labor history. The collection includes original artwork, photographs, poetry, and published and unpublished manuscripts by the Rosemonts and their contemporaries.

The Franklin and Penelope Rosemont Papers contain materials related to the activities of the Chicago Surrealists Group and its members, surrealism movements around the world, and the evolution of surrealist thought, writing and art from the 1960s through 2009. The papers contain notes, notebooks, drafts of manuscripts, and published and unpublished work, as well as original artwork by the Rosemonts and by their friends and correspondents. There are photographs distributed throughout the collection; however, the Current documents (2000s) and photographs (1960-2010) series includes a significant number of photographs that feature the Rosemonts and their activities. The final three series are dedicated to correspondence; however, correspondence is also interspersed throughout a few of the other series. A number of the published journals as well as a handful of calendars have been removed from the collection and can be found by searching the library catalog.

Books, correspondence, photos, contracts, manuscripts, magazines, and ephemera relating to the works of playwright and screenwriter Clifford Odets.

This collection is organized into eight series.

The Books Series consists of published stage plays and screenplays written by Odets, books belonging to or inscribed by Odets, biographical publications about Odets, novels that Odets adapted into screenplays, and stage plays written by other Group Theatre writers. The bulk of the Correspondence Series is Odets's letters to his friend Bill Kozlenko. Other letters sent by Odets to a variety of correspondents are also included.

The Contracts Series consists of contracts Odets signed with movie studios.

The Manuscripts Series consists of scripts, notes, and test scenes from Odets's various projects, including a scrapped film called Joseph. Also included are proofs of The Time Is Right: The 1940 Journal of Clifford Odets, published posthumously in 1988.

The Photographs Series includes portraits and photos of Odets, portraits of Odets's first wife Luise Rainer, and photos of film and stage productions of Odets's works.

The Magazines Series comprises magazines with articles or advertisements about Odets or his works or colleagues, organized chronologically.

The bulk of the Ephemera Series are playbills and lobby cards for Odets's plays and movies. Also included are one sheets, small flyers, pressbooks, and tickets. Two of the pamphlets feature Odets's writing, while the pamphlet by Margaret Brenman-Gibson is an analysis of Odets and his work.

The A/V Series consists of two LPs: a recording of the original Broadway cast of the Golden Boy musical adaptation and a recording of Odets in conversation with Herman Harvey.

This collection consists of physics professor and anarchist George Salzman's manuscripts, writings, correspondence, photographs, teaching materials, and ephemera.

This collection consists of physics professor and anarchist George Salzman's manuscripts, writings, correspondence, photographs, teaching materials, and ephemera. Salzman organized his papers around various themes, places, and organizations of importance to him, which is reflected in the labels he used.

The majority of papers fall under three general categories: Salzman's teaching materials for Science for Humane Survival, writings and ephemera related to Mexico, and essays from and correspondence pertaining to Salzman's website.

Salzman's teaching materials consist of slides, diagrams, and lecture notes that he used to teach Science for Humane Survival. Most of these were created during the mid-70s.

The papers about Mexico comprise ephemera from various indigenous activist groups, including the Asamblea Popular de los Pueblos de Oaxaca (APPO), formed during the 2006 uprising, and the Zapatistas. Salzman took part in the Zapatistas' 2001 march across Mexico for indigenous rights, which he touches on in some of his correspondence. He documented the 2006 Oaxacan uprisings in detail, saving pictures, logging the dates and times of important incidents, and writing descriptions and analysis of the events as he understood them. In addition to these documents, Salzman collected various essays, manuscripts, and ephemera about environmental protection in Oaxaca and Mexico more generally. These materials span from the late 1990s to roughly 2008.

The essays from Salzman's website were penned by a variety of writers and cover a range of subjects related to anarchism, revolution, environmentalism, and identity. Featured heavily are essays about the Israel-Palestine conflict written by Israeli peace activist Uri Avnery. These materials span from the mid 90s to roughly 2008.

Other materials of note include Salzman's correspondence with fellow anarchist, James Herod; records of Salzman's donations to various institions and causes; and photos of Salzman's home in Oaxaca.

The Greg Calvert Papers (1920-2000) consist of personal journals, unpublished writings, and correspondence by the former Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) National Secretary. Other materials include photographs, family documents, a manuscript copy of Calvert's book Democracy from the Heart. The unpublished writings consist of poems, manuscripts, and essays.

The Greg Calvert Papers consist of photographs, family documents, personal journals, correspondence, drawings, a manuscript copy of Calvert's book Democracy from the Heart, and unpublished material such as manuscripts, essays, and poetry. The materials are arranged in seven series: Calvert Family Papers, Unpublished Manuscripts, Personal Journals, Correspondence, Unpublished Essays, Unpublished Poems, and Democracy from the Heart Manuscript.

The personal journals include Calvert's writings at various points in time and locales in his life. The manuscripts, essays, and poems consist of typewritten, xeroxed, and handwritten copies. Correspondence includes letters, postcards, and some photographs to and from various friends throughout Calvert's life.

The essays included in the "Various essays and writings" folder are marked as the following on the included inventory: "Neocapitalism and the New Left," "Is Freedom Academic?," "The Ruling Class and the Elections," "The Other Side," "The End of the Run," Gay Freedom Week speech, "The Ordering of Days," "The Violence We Do to Ourselves," "Gimme Shelter," "United States Violence in the World of the 1980s," "Communitarian Democracy," A Model Democratic Community," "The Political Animal and Environmental Ethics," "The Challenge of Democratic Idealism," untitled essays on Carl Davidson, Paul Goodman, and human growth.

The cassette tapes consist of recorded notes and drafts for "The Hotel of the Two Worlds," interviews for the "After the War" oral history and manuscript, an interview with Greg's father, Clyde Calvert, and other various topics.

The Gregory M. Franzwa Lincoln Highway Papers consist of correspondence, publications, clippings, administrative papers, and audiovisual materials that not only discuss the inner workings of the Lincoln Highway Association that Franzwa helped spearhead in 1992 but also showcase the legacy of the historic interstate.

The Gregory M. Franzwa Lincoln Highway Papers, donated by Franzwa's widow, Kathy, on June 26, 2015, is a compilation of correspondence, administrative documents, guides, articles, photographs, and audiovisual materials that deal with the running of the Lincoln Highway Association as well as with the history, sites, and legacy associated with the highway itself.

Correspondence: In this series, there are letters and emails arranged chronologically about a variety of subjects including: the publication of Franzwa's books, the formation and functioning of the Lincoln Highway Association, conventions, and information related to the history of the interstate. Some are the most frequent correspondents that appear in this collection are: Bob and Joyce Ausberger, Rob Bauer, Earl W. Givens, Brian Butko, Lawrence R. Eno, Randall A. Wagner, and Esther M. Oyster. Each of these individuals played a role in the management of the organization. Many of the earlier documents in this section deal with the construction of the Lincoln Highway and are photocopies of the originals.

Lincoln Highway Association Administration: The documents in this series relate to the operation of the Lincoln Highway Association. Located first within this section are the membership rosters that are organized by date. There are two rosters from 1992 that contain slightly different information and are separated from the other booklets due to their rarity, fragile condition, and abundant annotations. Following the rosters are the papers of the organization that are arranged chronologically. The types of materials included in the papers are: participant lists, bylaws, mission statements, reports to the board, position descriptions, invitations to events, financial records, meeting notes, and internal communication. There are also awards presented by the Lincoln Highway Association to chapters of the organization as well as to individual members. The Lifetime Membership Awards are arranged alphabetically by last name while all the other certificates are organized chronologically.

Guides: This section consists of brochures, educational materials, information about landmarks along the Lincoln highway, maps, tours, and travel guides. Both the brochures and the maps are alphabetically organized by state while the travel guides are arranged alphabetically. The travel guides from the beginning of the twentieth century are photocopies of the originals. Though many topics appear in this series, Iowa is particularly well represented.

Journals and Clippings: This series is comprised of seventeen journals, arranged chronologically, that contain articles that either mention the activities of the Lincoln Highway Association directly or discuss themes with which this organization contends. There are also clippings that include newspaper articles, periodical pages, and short narratives organized according to date. The older documents in this section have either been printed out or photocopied.

Photographs: In this section, there are seventeen folders of photographs, negatives, film strips, transparencies, and printouts that are predominantly arranged according to chronology. These pictures document landmarks and scenery alongside the Lincoln Highway, Lincoln Highway Association trips and gathering such as the 1992 foundation meeting in Ogden, Iowa, and reproductions of historic images. On the back of many of the sheets of negatives, there is a list detailing the sites depicted along with a date.

Slides: The slides contain images of Lincoln Highway Association members, landmarks and scenery, and reproductions of photographs that had been taken in the early days of the Lincoln Highway's history. Franzwa used these slides, which arrived in carrousels but have since been removed from their initial housing for storage concerns, in presentations about the Lincoln Highway. They have been kept in their original groupings. While some written components to these slideshows are included with the slides, there is also a folder of other scripts as well as introductory information about Franzwa himself.

Audiovisual: The audiovisual materials consist of cassette tapes and digital media. The cassettes contend with topics like: Iowa's relationship with the Lincoln Highway, Utah, and Franzwa's notes on various historic societies. The digital media sub-series is comprised of CDs that contain images of the Lincoln Highway and individuals affiliated with the Lincoln Highway Association. Two of the CDs are pictures that accompany tours, and the PowerPoint is a conglomeration of Edward A. Holden's 1915 expedition.

The Hal Cooper Papers consists of 48 scripts for television shows that he directed and sometimes produced, including the Dick Van Dyke Show, Death Valley Days, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, Mayberry RFD, and That Girl. He was most known for his work with I Dream of Jeannie (1965-69), and Maude (1972-78). The scripts detail the development of the sitcom in the television industry. Additional material includes an extensive oral history interview and material that relates to the sitcoms, as well as to Hal Cooper's early career and the career of his first wife, Pat Meikle.

The majority of the Hal Cooper Papers consists of scripts for television shows that he directed and sometimes produced. The scripts are divided into two series, Scripts and Production Notes and Bound Scripts and Production Notes. The two series have similar content but have been divided due to the different format. The rest of the collection is material related to these shows, as well as to Hal Cooper's early career and the career of his first wife, Pat Meikle.

This collection includes recordings of interviews conducted by Cecil D. Eby for his book Hungary at War: Civilians and Soldiers in World War IIas well as photographic transparencies 3.5 in floppy disks with book files, and copy of the book.

The collection comprises 44 audiocassette tapes with recordings of interviews conducted by Cecil D. Eby for his book Hungary at War: Civilians and Soldiers in World War II, published by the Pennsylvania State University Press in 1998. Most interviews are in Hungarian, some are in English. The interviews are accompanied by an alphabetical list of names of interviewees and dates, which can be matched with the index at the end of Eby's book. A copy of the book is also included in the collection, along with 5 floppy disks with data relating to the project, and transparencies featuring photos dating from the war appearing in Eby's monograph.

Cassette tapes in Box 1 have been reformatted, and CD access copies are available.

The Ira Deutchman Papers represent the creator's ongoing career in the film industry, including his personal interests, teaching, and work as a production company executive for Cinecom and Fine Line Features as well as work with directors John Sayles, Alan Rudolph, and Robert Altman. The collection includes extensive catalogs and programs from film conferences and festivals around the world.

The Ira Deutchman Papers were donated to the University of Michigan Special Collections Library Screen Arts Mavericks and Makers Collection in 2015. The collection encompasses Ira Deutchman's 40 year career in independent film making as a producer, production company executive, and educator.

This collections contains materials related to US modernist author William Faulkner, including manuscripts, photographs, correspondence, and event documents.

The Irwin T. and Shirley Holtzman William Faulkner Collection (Special Collections Research Center, University of Michigan) series pertains to the establishment and exhibition of the Holtzman Faulkner Collection at the Special Collections Library at the University of Michigan. It includes business and personal correspondence, display case diagrams and notes, brochures and informative notes for various exhibitions of the collection, and lists of donated Faulkner materials. The Irwin T. Holtzman Faulkner Papers series covers Holtzman's business correspondence and documents relating to his collection of Faulkner materials. Correspondence is arranged alphabetically, with additional folders of research notes. The majority of the Faulkner Conferences, Seminars, and Events series is comprised of event-related ephemera, such as maps, schedules, registrant lists, itineraries, tour books, and flyers. The series also includes some conference-related correspondence, speech drafts, clippings, planning notes, invitations, and abstracts of presented papers. The Faulkner Works series covers Faulkner's literary and artistic publications, and is divided into three subseries: Correspondence, Manuscripts, and Scripts and Treatments. The Correspondence subseries collects outgoing letters sent by Faulkner to agents and other writers, and are all single-page photocopies, unless otherwise noted. The Manuscript subseries is comprised of printed or photocopied reproductions of drafts of short stories, novels, and Faulkner's last will and testament. The Scripts and Treatments subseries contains typescript drafts of film and television treatments of Faulkner works, scripts written or revised by Faulkner, and scripts based on or relating to Faulkner works. Many of these scripts and treatments have manuscript annotations, and some are accompanied by promotional still photographs. The Rowan Oak, Lafayette County, and Oxford, Mississippi series is primarily comprised of ephemera and photographs depicting Faulkner's home and the surrounding area. The photographs in this series are predominantly professional, with identification on the reverse, though there are some annotated amateur snapshots and prints, as well. The Photographs and Portraits series includes photographs of conferences and exhibits, professional portraits and snapshots of Faulkner and various family members, snapshots of Irwin T. Holtzman and the Holtzman Faulkner Collection, and movie. All images in this series are in black and white, unless otherwise noted. Many of the photographs have annotations by Irwin Holtzman and/or the photographer, on the reverse, describing the images. Irwin Holtzman is pictured in many of the photographs in the Conferences and Exhibits subseries. The Works about Faulkner series contains original and mechanically-reproduced copies of manuscript works about Faulkner and his writings, and are arranged alphabetically by author. The Ephemera series is comprised of various materials that have either images or mention of Faulkner, including exhibit and library brochures, greeting cards, bookmarks, a sticker, and a book jacket for The Sound and the Fury. Also included are materials related to the issuance of the United States Postal Service's William Faulkner commemorative stamp. The Book Publishers and Dealers series contains catalogs, promotional materials, sample book covers and dust jackets, arranged in alphabetic order by publisher or dealer name. The Articles and Clippings series consists of newspaper and magazine articles about the life and works of Faulkner selected and retained by Irwin Holtzman, and is divided into broad topical headings. The Audiotape series includes two sound recordings of television broadcasts about Faulkner. The Realia series contains various artefacts depicting Faulkner, including textiles, plaques, artwork, and housewares. Some items in the Photographs, Works about Faulkner, and Rowan Oak, Lafayette county, and Oxford, Mississippi series have accompanying correspondence and descriptive notes from dealers or donors.

Isaac E. Ronch was a Yiddish writer, teacher, and journalist active in Jewish immigrant circles in Chicago and New York from the 1920s through the 1980s. Ronch was also a good friend of artist Marc Chagall. This collection includes correspondence, writings, and books documenting Ronch and Chagall's friendship, as well as publications, manuscripts, correspondence, photographs, ephemera, and clippings relating to Ronch's own life and works.

The Marc Chagall Materials Series is made up of records documenting Chagall and Ronch's friendship. The donor, Ronch's son, included a handful of books about the history of Jewish arts and identity in Russia to contextualize Chagall's work with Itzik Feffer, which led to his first meeting with Ronch.

The Landsmanshaften Book Series includes a signed copy of the book Di Yiddishe Landsmanshaften foon New York (The Jewish Landsmanshaften of New York), as well as papers relating to the creation of the Landsmanshaften book.

The Writings Series consists of Ronch's creative and journalistic writings. Books include books of prose and poetry, primarily written in Yiddish. Ronch's two serialized novels are preserved as compilations of newspaper clippings placed in composition books.

The Collected Publications Series is made up of three publications (or photocopies of publications) found in Ronch's papers: a 1902 issue of the periodical Di Yiddishe Familie, which includes an article by Sholem Asch, the 1982 Bulletin of the Reuben Brainin Children's Clinic in Tel Aviv, and photocopied pages of a Holocaust Memorial/Yizkor Book for Konin that includes likely relatives of Ronch under the surname Ronchkovski.

The Correspondence Series consists of a single postcard from Sol Liptzin, a scholar of Yiddish and German literature.

The Photographs Series includes photos of Ronch with his students at the Chicago shul where he taught, photos of Ronch giving lectures at Camp Kinderland and Camp Lakeland, and photos of Ronch with as-yet unidentified colleagues sometime in the 1930s.

The Clippings and Ephemera Series comprises newspaper clippings and ephemera relating to Ronch's activities or colleagues, as well as a obituaries for Ronch.
