The collection documents the history of the Zonta Club of Mt. Pleasant, through meeting minutes, photographs, scrapbooks, and after 1992, scrapbook materials. The three oversized scrapbooks are acidic and brittle and should be handled with care. Later additions added mostly meeting minutes. The collection is organized alphabetically and chronologically. The collection is ongoing. The Zontian is separately cataloged.

Equality Michigan is a civil rights advocacy group providing political, policy, and anti-violence services on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community of Michigan. This record group documents the administration of Equality Michigan, as well as its policy, outreach, and victims' services activities. Also included are records from the Triangle Foundation and Michigan Equality, Equality Michigan's predecessor civil rights, political, and policy organizations.

The Equality Michigan records contain materials documenting both of the organization's predecessors (Triangle Foundation and Michigan Equality), as well as the organization's recent political and advocacy activities. The record group also documents the anti-violence and victim's services provided by Equity Michigan and its predecessor organizations.

Topical files across the collection contain materials documenting hate crimes and violence perpetrated against the LGBTQ+ community in Michigan and across the United States. They also contain reports of police misconduct and violence.

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Extended Occupancy Rights Group (SBDNL) records collected by Paul and JoAnne Wheaton. SBDNL was a group of residents of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore who were interested in seeking to extend or modify their lease arrangements with the National Park Service. The collection consists of documents pertaining to information about the residents of Sleeping Bear and their property, legal documentation, and media and news sources regarding the issue, as well as a large number of photos.

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Extended Occupancy Rights Group Records contain the paperwork and photos accumulated by Paul and JoAnne Wheaton dating from the mid 1960's to 2015. Included are records of membership in the Extended Rights Group, legal files pertaining to court cases and legislation, and media coverage of the issue. Numerous photographs of properties destroyed by the National Park Service are present in the collection.

Professor of sociology, University of Michigan; correspondence and other papers concerning Angell's work with UNESCO, American Sociological Society, and International Sociological Association; papers concerning published books and articles; unpublished manuscripts of writings.

The Angell papers document the life and professional activities of a renowned sociologist and university teacher. The collection dates from 1923 to 1984 though the bulk of the papers fall within the period of the 1940s through the 1960s. The collection has been arranged into five series: Biographical information/autobiographical essays; Correspondence; Books, articles, and other writings; Organizational Affiliations; and Topical Files.

Student at the University of Michigan, later lecturer in social work, and active member of the League of Revolutionary Black Workers (LRBW). Materials relating to the Black Action Movement (BAM) strike at the University of Michigan in 1970; papers detailing his involvement with the LRBW, the International Black Appeal (IBA), and other black organizations.

Madison Foster's papers document some of the most important currents of black activism of the 1960s and early 1970s, and provide a unique insight into the history of this period. The collection has been arranged into the following series: Black Action Movement; League of Revolutionary Black Workers; International Black Appeal; and Topical Files.

Professor of botany at the University of Michigan. Correspondence and subject files relating to his professional activities, notably his specialization in mycology; and photographs.

The Frederick K. Sparrow Collection has been organized alphabetically by topic. Correspondence is filed under the letter "C" and is in chronological order. In the biographical folder, the researcher will find a summary of the disposition of Dr. Sparrow's botanical effects, listings of his personal mycological library and his holdings of rare mycological books and publications, and a detailed bibliography of his works.

Dr. Sparrow corresponded with friends, mentors, and fellow mycologists and botanists from around the world on a variety of topics. His correspondence comprises over one-half of the collection. The researcher should note that letters dealing with the Second International Mycological Congress are included with the rest of the materials from the Congress.

The organizational records include: an organizational history, bylaws, meeting minutes with attachments, staff and volunteer lists, magazine clippings (copies), photographs, and related materials.

The Organizational Records, 1970-2018, and undated, include: financial reports, grant information, organizational history, one lease agreement, list of staff and volunteers, meeting minutes (agendas and reports), newspaper clippings (copies), photographs, and one oversized scrapbook. The majority of the collections consist of both meeting minutes and financial reports. The collection is organized by alphabetically and chronologically. Although the ICDC was founded in 1969, the organizational records donated to the Clarke begin in the year 1970.

A copy of William Theunissen’s book Isabella Child Development Center, a history of the Center is separately cataloged in the Clarke.

Processing Note: One cubic foot of duplicate materials and acidic materials, were removed from the collection during processing. Copies of the acidic materials were retained within the collection.

The collection includes Dawson's research, writing and related correspondence, mostly about his research and manuscript drafts for materials on Henry Whiting, Hezekiah G. Wells, Della T. Lutes and minstrel / vaudeville performer Billy Clark.

The collection includes Dawson's research, writing and related correspondence, mostly about his research and manuscript drafts for materials on Henry Whiting, Hezekiah G. Wells, Della T. Lutes and minstrel / vaudeville performer Billy Clark. Boxes 1-3 are .5 cubic foot boxes and Box 4 is .25 cubic foot. The collection is organized alphabetically and chronologically.

Box 1 includes: Dawson’s research, writing, and related correspondence, 1970-1999 and undated. Most of the collection consists of Dawson’s research, photographs, drafts of manuscripts, and correspondence about republishing Della T. Lutes’ Country Kitchen cookbook. The same types of materials exist from his efforts to publish an article about Billy Clark, a Michigan minstrel. There is also a typed, 45-page paper with a variety of U. S. Centennial poetry from Michigan newspapers, compiled by Dawson. The Clarke Historical Library also houses the Lutes papers and three scrapbooks about Clark and minstrel shows.

Boxes 2-4 include: Dawson’s research, writing, and related correspondence, 1911-2007 and undated, on Della T. Lutes, Henry Whiting, Hezekiah G. Wells, and English poet Felicia Hemans (1793-1835). Also included are research materials on Michigan history, especially Michigan territorial verse, roads and taverns; the Mount Pleasant public library; Henry Rowe Schoolcraft; Mount Pleasant Woman’s Club; including the Mount Pleasant Saginaw Chippewa Indian Reservation and the Battle of Lake Erie.

The collection documents some of the history of the CMU. RHA in constitutions, bylaws, programs, photographs, scrapbooks, booklets, webpages [added by the Archivist], and a few meeting minutes. The majority of the collection consists of the scrapbooks, all eighteen of which are oversized volumes of varying completion. Some of the covers and scrapbooks are particularly beautiful, creative, and well identified, including 1995-1996 (Cover of cotton flannel with cars design); 1996-1997 (Cover of bright tie-dyed material with PEACE); 1999-2000 (Cover words in pink, green, and silver sparkle paint on black scrapbook cover); 2006 (Cover of red satin cover with black RHA, 2006, and trim); and 2006-2007 (Cover of beautiful tie-dyed material with white rope and purple ribbon trim, RHA).

There are a number of organizations represented in the collection to which CMU. RHA belongs to and interacts with, including:

GLAUCURH [Great Lakes Association of College and University Residence Halls] is a student-run organization which works to promote and improve student life at college and university campus in the region including Michigan, Ontario, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. It focuses on providing quality programming and activities for on-campus residents to improve their college experience. It was founded in 1968. The organization works with the NCCs [National Communications Coordinator]s who each represent their school. There are conferences, regional and national awards and regional directors and national officers of the organization;

MORHA [Michigan Organization of Residence Hall Association] which is the related state organization;

and, NACURH [National Association of College and University Residence Halls] which is the related national organization, which has a program of the month competition in which CMU routinely competes.

Processing Note: Approximately .5 cubic foot of materials, duplicates and reading or reference materials, were returned to the donor as per his request on May 23, 2014.

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Lansing, Michigan. Records include newsletters, bulletins, yearbooks, board minutes, Ladies Aid Society records, correspondence and general files, and related materials; also photographs.

The record group includes church board minutes; files of correspondence, memos and legal and financial papers; Sunday School attendance and offering record books; Bible (Sunday) School Council minutes and related materials; some individual Sunday School class record books; Vacation Bible School records; Ladies Aid Society minutes; Missions Committee minutes, correspondence and other materials; church yearbooks; church newsletters; worship service bulletins; photographs of church buildings and members; and miscellaneous materials having to do with the history of the congregation, its clergy and membership. The "Early Church Records" series is a microfilm copy of originals that remain at the church.
