Series C: Speeches and Writings consists of articles, speeches, lectures, book reviews, and poetry written by Tate. Most articles and speeches relate to microphotographic and photographic topics, although a few relate to Tate's personal interest in Mexican history, naval history, and other nautical topics.

Major writings and speeches are arranged by year and thereunder alphabetically, with separate sequences at the end for book reviews, poetry, and miscellaneous writings.

Series D: Personal Interests is comprised of publications, correspondence, meeting notices, and programs relating to Tate's interest in such topics as antiques, art, books and printing, history, hobbies, home improvements, libraries, antique machinery, and ships and shipping. The largest single category concerns his interest in nautical matters and includes material on American Neptune magazine, naval history, ship models, and the Steamship Historical Society.

In Series E: Microfilm/Samples of Copying Processes, microfilms, microfiche, and examples of other copying processes. Some items are product samples and are filed by the name of the company which produced them. Other items are copies of books and articles reflecting Tate's professional and personal interests and are filed under the author's name.
