Records which came from several collections in the Museum Archives; includes letters; inventories; brochures; reports; photograph album.
This subgroup had been mixed with records designated "Peterson" [Enoch Ernest Peterson], but labeled "Museum Files," and may have resulted from an earlier attempt to establish a separate group of Museum records. The files cover numerous subjects, none in great depth. The researcher should view all of the collections in the archives as an integrated set of Kelsey Museum records since each component contains a portion of the history of the Museum. Correspondents include Francis Kelsey, Orma Butler, John Winter, and Enoch Peterson.
The bulk of the subgroup consists of material related to renovations and additions to the Newberry Hall during the 1990s and 2000s. Records include meetings and correspondence discussing the finances of the renovations, as well as the conservation and preservation needs of the museum.
[Boxes 1-4 of the subgroup are still held by the Kelsey Museum.]
Note by Maurice Browne: "This scrapbook concerns the activities of my parents, 1893-5, including the circumstances attending the death of my father in 1894. It concludes the unhappy story told in the latter part of the 1889-94 scrapbook."
Chronologically arranged business correspondence.
