The series Biographical Materials (one linear foot) contains biographies, curriculum vitae, lists of works, biographical clippings, some vital records, and miscellaneous notes. Included in the file "Miscellaneous" are lists of words and phrases from which Albright apparently chose titles for new pieces. Also in this series are seven notebooks containing drafts of correspondence and notes.
The series Correspondence (1.8 linear feet) contains three sub-series: Chronological Files, Topical Files and Correspondence II. The file Correspondence II was accessioned separately from the rest of the correspondence. It apparently contains the bulk of Albright's professional correspondence relating to the exchange among composers of new works. However, all three files contain a mix of both professional and personal correspondence; in addition, small files of correspondence can be found interspersed throughout the collection. For instance, letters from composers (especially from former students) were occasionally kept along with the scores they had sent to Albright; these can be found in the series Scores. The folder of correspondence from William Bolcom was also accessioned separately--it was donated to the Bentley Historical Library by Bolcom in 1999.
