Rosenberg/Sobell Case
The Rosenberg/Sobell Case series consists of two major sections, materials centering around the case prior to and immediately following the execution of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, and those concerning Morton Sobell in the mid-1950s. Correspondence, trial transcripts, legal documents, organizational records, and an extensive collection of notes, manuscripts, and printed items form the bulk of this section of the Reuben papers. Of particular note are the organizational records of the Committee to Secure Justice in the Rosenberg Case and the writings of Morton and Helen Sobell. The series also includes a large subseries of material consisting of Reuben's reactions to other writers' works. The largest grouping of material in the subseries documents Reuben's response to The Rosenberg File, a book on the Rosenberg case written by Ronald Radosh and Joyce Milton. In addition to writing, correspondence, and notes, The Rosenberg File material contains legal documents from Reuben's libel lawsuit against Radosh, Milton and their publishing company.
