Warrant for payment of mounted infantry to protect the frontiers. Governor Blount orders David Henley, "Agent for the Department of War," to pay William Rickard, Pay Master, to cover the payroll from 15 October 1794 through 6 November 1794. Concerning Colonel Robert Hays's regiment of Mero District Mounted Infantry, under command of Sergeant William Neely. Written and signed by Charles McClung. Signed by Blount and William Rickard, who attests to having received $350.75.

Blount orders Henley to pay William Rickard $94 to cover October 1794 payroll for the troops from Sumner County Militia, commanded by Lieutenant Zachariah Green. Written and signed by Charles McClung. Signed by Blount and Rickard, attesting to having received $91.

Introducing the bearer of the letter, Mr. Childress, who comes to Pasteur at St. Vincennes in search of stolen horses. Describes the two horse thieves, their "sham sale," and the horses. One horse belongs to Captain Lytle's nephew and the other to General Nash's son. Warns Pasteur that one of the thieves' accomplices has likely settled near St. Vincennes.

Has received information about a "vacancy in this government," possibly to be filled by Mr. Sedgwick, and that Mr. Ross had previously declined the position. Quotes from a letter from Ross suggesting the governor's health is declining and that Sargent will be in a position to make the "final decision" about his successor. Hopes to gain a better sense of the situation, noting "how embarassing has been my situation for very many years in this Country." Marked "very private."

Certification that David Beard has served in the 3rd U.S. Regiment, Captain Richard Spark's company, for three years. Discharged after serving his full term. Includes a description of Beard to "prevent any ill use that May be made of this discharge, by its falling into the hands of any other person." Signed by Butler and P. Grayson, Adjutant 4 U.S. Regiment. Includes a note signed by D. Henley, dated July 1798 stating that the discharge was retained until Beard accounted for a horse.
