Holmes, Robert B., 1968-1992
Robert B. Holmes served as assistant to the vice president 1981-1982, and as assistant vice president 1982-1995. In the early 1990's he assumed the additional responsibilities of executive advisor for M-Quality and director of the Human Resources Development Program in the Human Resources/Affirmative Action division. As assistant vice president Holmes was primarily responsible for overseeing the academic service units (Office of Admissions, Office of Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar, etc.) and minority student services, including recruitment, enrollment and retention.
After leaving the provost's office, he continued on as director of Human Resources Development. In 2002, he became the ombudsman for the University of Michigan.
