This series of political materials contains documents transferred by Nancy Harrison, the Director of the Operations Division, arranged by campaign or project, roughly chronologically. Within the "Engler for Governor 1990" subseries, the "Candidacy Research" files contain interesting material. Prior to mounting his campaign, John Engler, John Kost of the Michigan Senate Majority Office and Jill Murphy executed an intensive research project to document Engler's political history, compiling his votes and speeches in the legislature, and his press coverage. They also researched Engler's potential opponents for the Republican nomination.
