The August 2017 Accession was donated to the Bentley Historical Library by Brown's daughter, Barbara Brown Zikmund. The bulk of the material consists of speeches given by Brown at historical societies and museums throughout Michigan and Ohio. The topics of these speeches typically covered the history of Detroit, the Detroit Historical Museum, and the museum field in general. A small portion of the accession includes personal papers documenting Brown's reasons for moving to Detroit, and his death in 1970.
