Item [13] promotes economy cooking. Includes 18 menus from the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company for 1933 and 1934 focusing on budget menus for families of four; recipes for breads, salads, soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts; advertisements and images in each menu for special products, such as Ann Page, Quaker Maid, Rajah, Sultana, White House, and Encore; and images of men and women in period dress. Sample recipes: pumpkin nut custard, parsnip cakes, and sheperd's pie.
