He and his men do not want to serve under their colonel and requests Harris to use his influence with the Secretary of War to remove them from under the colonel's command. He would like to raise his own company or battalion.

He has been directed by the Governor and Council to order Moore to use force "to protect private as well as public property...if your force is inefficient more must be supplied to you."
