Legal Proceedings
Legal Proceedings, 1950-1974, consists primarily of legal documents--briefs, motions, petitions, and records of court proceedings--and other material relating to legal actions in which the American Committee was involved. The bulk of the material deals with the Subversive Activities Control Board case against the American Committee and with the New York State Joint Legislative Committee on Charitable and Philanthropic Agencies and Organizations, which ordered the ACPFB to register as a philanthropic organization, presumably as a means of regulating its "subversive" activities. Also included are subpoenas issued to the ACPFB by the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
