The UCC Women records are mainly composed of records from the organization's meetings and information for the annual retreats. Records are from as early as 1915, and are available for most years from 1945-1962 and all years from 1962-2008. The records are divided into three series. Record books, Annual Records, and Other Records.

The records of the Michigan Synodical Society document its historical development, the administration of its business, its annual meetings, and its interests in missions, both foreign and home missions, from 1873 to 1973. These records document the beginnings of both the foreign (1873) and home (1879) missionary societies which eventually became the Michigan Synodical Society (1919). The bulk of the collection, however, covers the later period, 1942-1968.

Gladys Kapenga was heavily involved with the United Church of Christ and Church Women United in Michigan. This collection documents both organizations and is particularly strong in its coverage of women’s organizations in the United Church of Christ. The collection includes administrative files for Burlingame Congregational Church, UCC Women of Michigan, the UCC Michigan Conference, the Grand West Association, and Church Women United.

The Gladys Kapenga collection contains papers related to Church Women United, Burlingame Congregational Church, and the United Church of Christ in Michigan. The collection has been organized in nine series: United Church of Christ (UCC); Church Women United; Committee Files; Events and Meetings; Outreach and Ministry; Publications and Newsletters; Topical Files; Miscellaneous Files; and Personal Files.

The collection includes correspondence, student papers, sermon outlines, newspaper clippings, and religious and inspirational writings by Mrs. Teed, Ralph W. Sockman, Seth C. and Paul S. Rees, Joseph H. Smith, and others relating to preaching, the role and activities of women in the church, the holiness movement within Methodism, and personal affairs. There is also information concerning the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church, the American Association of Women Ministers, the Detroit Holiness Tabernacle, and the Michigan Association for the Promotion of Holiness. The photographs consist of one ambrotype and four daguerreotypes of Schleicher family children, ca. 1860-1890.

The records of the Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan are a rich resource of material, not only for the programs and activities of the Episcopal Church in western Michigan, but also for their documentation of the role of the church in the life of the various communities served by the diocese.

Records from the Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan first came to the Bentley Historical Library in 1972. Since then, the diocese has made several significant additions to their records. In 1999 the record group was reprocessed with the aim of drawing together like materials. The record group now consists of twenty-two separate series. These are: Bishop's Files, Chancellor, Treasurer, Diocesan Historiographer, Standing Committee Files, Miscellaneous Files, Diocesan Record Books, Publicity Files, Defunct Parish and Mission Churches Files, Diocesan Committee Files, Diocesan Organization Files, Diocesan Financial Records, Visual Materials, Sound Recordings, Scrapbooks, Western Michigan University (WMU) Ministry Files, Women's Organizations, Miscellaneous office and staff files Bulletins of Church Services, Church of Christ the King, Miscellaneous parish materials, and Miscellaneous diocesan materials.

The records of Church Women United in Michigan (CWUMI) reflect only a part of the organization's history. No primary materials exist prior to 1948, and the existing material created between 1948 and 1954 is very sketchy. Documentation is richest starting the 1960s. Material from this era includes minutes of CWUMI executive and annual meetings, material relating to committees and committee reports, bylaws, correspondence of CWUMI presidents, periodical publications, files relating to projects and activities, material related to CWUMI local groups, and lists of member organizations.

Congregational church established in Wyoming Township, a suburb of Grand Rapids, in 1924. The church, subsequently renamed Burlingame Congregational United Church of Christ, disbanded in 2009. Church records document the history and activities of the church, and include registers of baptisms, marriages, and burials; also publications, scrapbooks, and records of women’s clubs.

The records of Burlingame Congregational United Church of Christ have been arranged into the following series: Church registers; Annual Reports; Church Newsletter; Church Bulletins; Scrapbooks; Miscellaneous; Women's Organizations; and Men's Organizations. Members of the church were careful in maintaining the history of Burlingame. The scrapbooks, in particular, contain a complete record of activities from 1924 to 1981. Included in these volumes are photographs, clippings, and programs from church activities, as well as historical notes about the church and biographical material on church pastors and various members. Also of value are the church registers which are both the minutes of the annual church meetings and the record of church functions and membership, notably baptisms, marriages, and burials.

The collection documents the lives of a missionary family to the Ojibwa Indians of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The papers have been arranged into the following series: Correspondence; Abel Bingham ministerial papers; Miscellaneous; and Bound Account Books and Diaries. The collection is of value for the family correspondence, for the sermons of Abel Bingham, and for the diaries of Hannah Bingham reflecting her daily activities and religious convictions (1817-1868). There are also papers concerning Fountain Street Baptist Church in Grand Rapids in the 1850s.
